TIRUPATI: Tirupati Railway Station authorities have intensified measures to manage the summer surge in passenger traffic, particularly devotees heading to Tirumala for Srivari Darshan, by adding coaches to high-demand trains and operating special weekend services. In response, the South Central Railway (SCR) is taking proactive steps to manage the rush by attaching additional coaches to popular trains such as Narayanadri Express, Padmavathi Express, Venkatadri Express, and Rayalaseema Express, which connect Tirupati with major cities, especially Hyderabad. Speaking to TNIE, Tirupati Railway Station Director Kuppala Sathya Narayana said, 'We are monitoring the passenger traffic coming to Tirupati, especially for Srivari Darshan. Depending on the crowd and demand, we are prepared to attach extra sleeper class coaches to regularly operating trains between Tirupati and Hyderabad.' To ease congestion, SCR has introduced three special trains every weekend between Hyderabad and Tirupati, with corresponding return services. The zone has also launched special trains between Tirupati and Visakhapatnam to meet the high demand from coastal Andhra devotees. 'On normal days, Tirupati railway station handles a daily footfall of 60,000 to 80,000 passengers, but this number has seen a sharp increase during the summer vacation. We are taking all measures to ensure a smooth travel experience for passengers,' he added. Ticketing revenue at Tirupati station averages Rs 30 lakh per day and can peak at Rs 40 lakh during weekends and festival periods. Officials expect this upward trend to continue throughout June. Hyderabad: To facilitate the passengers, South Central Railway (SCR) has planned to provide additional stoppage at Manchiryal station for train no- 06157/06158, MGR Chennai Central – Bhagat Ki Kothi – MGR Chennai Central Express. An additional stoppage has been introduced at Manchiryal railway station for two express trains. Train no-06157 (MGR Chennai Central – Bhagat Ki Kothi Express) will begin halting at Manchiryal from May 28, with an arrival time of 6:14 am and departure at 6:15 am. Similarly, Train no-06158 (Bhagat Ki Kothi – MGR Chennai Central Express) will stop at the station starting May 31, arriving at 10:34 am and departing at 10:35 am.

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) has conducted a detailed review meeting on safety and monsoon preparedness forecasting rains across the zone on Monday at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. During the meeting, emphasis was given on conducting the safety drives in view of monsoon to ensure safety in train operations and also instruction was given to the officials to strengthen patrolling at all identified vulnerable sections at tracks, bridges and locations with heavy rainfall to prevent unsafe conditions. He also advised the divisional railway managers to ensure proper working of signaling system, to avoid the unexpected failures in view of rainy season. Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, stated that, strict coordination to be maintained in train operations and all safety precautions to be followed while running the trains. He instructed officials to focus on passenger's safety at all levels by inspecting assets related to safety. He asked the officials to strengthen track patrolling by deploying additional RPF and track patrolling staff to identify the miscreants' activities to ensure track safety. During the meeting it was discussed on the availability of CCTVs over the zone, including private sidings to ensure security and transparency. Earlier, General Manager, SCR launched a new version-2.0 of e-DAS (Electronic Drawing Approval System) which will be helpful to maintain database related to engineering drawings and help full for approvals by the competent authority.

SCR Vijayawada division observes Anti-Terrorism Day

Officials of the South Central Railway (SCR), Vijayawada division, observed National Anti-Terrorism Day on Wednesday. National Anti-Terrorism Day is observed every year on May 21 in India, commemorating the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Narendra A. Patil said that Anti-Terrorism Day was aimed at raising awareness about the devastating impact of terrorism, to honour those who lost their lives to terrorism, promote peace, harmony, and national unity. Mr. Narendra A. Patil administered the Anti-Terrorism Day pledge to the staff and branch officers at the Divisional Office Compound in Vijayawada. Additional DRMs Srinivasa Rao Konda and P.E. Edwin, Senior Divisional Personal Officer Prem Kumar Lakawat and officers of other wings participated.

Armed forces lauded for success in ‘Operation Sindoor'

Officers of South Central Railway (SCR), Vijayawada Division, on Saturday (May 17) organised a march extending support to the armed forces, which successfully carried out 'Operation Sindoor'. The rally, which began from Gandhi Statue, passed through Clock Tower (railway station East side), DRM's office and Jack N Jill School, and culminated in a meeting at Bapu Waiting Hall, on Platform No. 1, in the railway station. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Narendra A. Patil, additional DRMs Srinivasa Rao Konda and P.E. Edwin, officers of various branches, personnel from Railway Protection Force (RPF), Scouts and Guides, passengers and students participated in the solidarity march (Tiranga Run). The participants, carrying the Tricolour, raised slogans lauding the courage of the army, navy and air force personnel. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Narendra commended the armed forces for their success in 'Operation Success', and congratulated the personnel department of SCR-Vijayawada Division for organising the Tiranga Run.
