Richard E. Grant still has his Spice World outfits
Richard E. Grant keeps his 'Spice World' outfits in his attic. The 68-year-old actor starred alongside the Spice Girls - Mel B, Melanie C, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, and Victoria Beckham - in the 1997 comedy movie, and Richard has actually kept hold of his outfits from the film. He told People: "On 'Spice World' they said, 'We will give you all your costumes.' So I've got all of them in my attic." Richard also loved introducing his daughter Olivia, who is now 36, to the chart-topping pop stars. What's more, Olivia relished spending time on set with the Spice Girls. The actor shared: "My eight-year-old daughter was off-the-charts excited because she worshiped the Spice Girls and they were at the height of their fame. "So being able to take her to the set and get to know all of them was an incredible thrill." Richard previously opened up about his first-ever meeting with the Spice Girls, remembering that they were "so uninhibited". Speaking to Vulture in 2021, Richard shared: "I had just turned 40, and they were about half my age. And Scary Spice, Mel B, pinched my bum on the first day and said, 'You're not bad for an old guy.' "I thought, If that's a seal of approval from the rowdiest of the Spice Girls, then I was A for away. They just seemed able to talk about anything. They were so uninhibited, and so thrilled with the success that they had, that it was hard not to be taken up by all that energy." Richard also recalled the band being unaffected by their own fame. He said: "The producers were absolutely thrilled because, on the first day, each of us had huge Winnebagos with a living room and just about every modern thing that a Tom Cruise Winnebago could have. And they said, 'We feel lonely in here; we want to be with each other.' "I certainly didn't give mine up - it's the biggest one I'd ever had in my career - but they all insisted on joining up. So, to the producers' delight, they got rid of four Winnebagos that they no longer needed to pay exorbitant rentals on because they all wanted to be together all the time."

Geri Horner drops major clue about epic Spice Girls reunion after meeting new girl group hopefuls Sweet Love - as pop legends 'plan world tour'
Oasis may well be fuelling nineties nostalgia with their forthcoming reunion, but The Spice Girls could well eclipse the Brit Pop legends amid claims of a secretly planned world tour. The girl-group are understood to be considering a reunion of their own, six years after they filled stadiums across the United Kingdom with their Spice World mini-tour. The reported tour will be launched to celebrate their 30th anniversary, and founding member Geri Horner suggested she was keen for a return to the stage during a recent chat with new girl band Sweet Love. Pop veteran Geri, 52 - known to millions as Ginger Spice - stunned the fledgling four-piece with a surprise backstage meeting, just days after publicly supporting them on social media. The group, comprised of singers Honey, Jasmine, Venice, and Maya, posed for a series of photos with Geri, who hinted at a desire to dust off her Union Jack minidress and get back onstage. 'It was honestly insane meeting Geri,' said Honey. 'I cannot believe we met a Spice Girl after being a fan for so many years! A dream come true. 'We were joking around and asked if she would become the fifth member of our girl band - which she joked saying she'd love to. We were in awe of her!' Band-mate Jasmine added: 'It was a dream come true to meet one of our inspirations! 'I absolutely am obsessed with the Spice Girls and hopefully one day we will be supporting them on tour!' In April, Sweet Love were given the official Spice Girls seal of approval after posting a cover of their 1996 number one single Mama in conjunction with Mother's Day. The '90s girl-group commented 'Love this' on the post, before resharing the video with their 1.1 million followers on TikTok. Geri, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm are said to be meeting next week in Miami to discuss the finer details. However Victoria Beckham is '90 per cent out of the running', with the foursome pushing ahead without her for now. Geri and band manager and guru Simon Fuller are reportedly in touch again which has moved things along after years of hints from various members that they would get back together. A source told The Sun: 'There have been rumours swirling for months, but Geri has always been too busy and had other things on, preventing her from saying yes. 'Nothing is yet confirmed but Geri and Simon are back in touch with a myriad of exciting ideas. 'Unfortunately Victoria has pretty much ruled herself out, but there is still a world in which she could do some sort of avatar appearance or a special one-off thing. She would always want to honour the girls' history.' 'If Simon were to get involved, this would absolutely take any tour to the next level.' Geri will be in Miami later this week to support her F1 boss husband Christian Horner at the Grand Prix and Simon will also be there.

Alan Cumming was always trying to 'prove something' to himself after enduring a rocky relationship with his father
Alan Cumming was always trying to "prove something" to himself after enduring a rocky relationship with his father. The 60-year-old actor alleged that his father was a "bully" to him throughout his childhood and is still "working through" the issues that come with that but insisted that his "drive" to succeed came from that "scary" part of his youth. Speaking on the 'Turning Points' podcast, he told 'Shout' hitmaker Lulu: "When you're scared of things in your childhood … and you know, one of your parents is your bully, that casts such a long shadow in your life and I'm still working through that, still. But the other thing is that, you know, my 'workiness' and my drive in that way, I don't want to attribute that to my dad not loving me. I sort feel like, I guess I'm trying to prove something, but I'm actually proving something for myself. The 'Traitors USA' host claimed that his father called him "worthless" and enjoyed "hurting" him but eventually that sort of behavior gave him the kind of courage he needed to rebel and focus on his career. He said: "When someone sort of tells you you're worthless and takes pleasure in hurting you who's supposed love you and supposed to sort of look after you, it definitely makes you very self-aware and makes you have to make up your own… be vigilant about yourself and make decisions about everything, including yourself. But it also makes you think 'f***you - I'm gonna do what I want to do, I'm going to live my life." The 'Spice World' star opened up further about the abuse he faced at the hands of his father in his 'Not My Father's Son' and reflected that while he did it solely for himself, it came as a "great surprise" that the project helped others as well. He said: "When I wrote the book about my dad, which came about because of a series of circumstances that he suddenly came back into my life, telling that final part of my story that I hadn't really ever talked about very publicly was unexpectedly so brilliant... because so many other people who had gone through similar things or had a variety of different things in their lives said to me 'because you've spoken out about what was your demon, now I feel empowered to talk about mine'. And so you realise that you help so many people by being authentic and honest. And you just, you sort of think you're doing it for you, and you have to do it for you, but actually, it was such a great surprise to me. JAC E30X review: Pint-sized EV is funky, fun and affordable
Some cars occupy a very definite niche. Lots of people wouldn't fancy zipping around in a whopping 4x4, but there are plenty of others who couldn't imagine anything better. The JAC E30X will probably similarly divide opinion. It's the kind of car that if the Spice World movie was being remade, might feature heavily. And that's simply because it radiates fun, cuteness and … well, jollity. Its pleasing bubble shape, reminiscent of many other curvy cars – not least the Volkswagen Beetle and Fiat 500 – indicates as much, as do what the manufacturer calls its Angel Eyes headlights, which wink at you in a relatively entertaining fashion. Approaching the E30X, the flush-mounted door handles pop out automatically. Once inside, it's clear that the attention JAC has paid to the external features has been extended to the cabin. It has a quality feel for a car that is most assuredly a less-expensive electric option, with comfortable and surprisingly spacious seats amid a trim that would be expected in pricier vehicles. The driver's instrument cluster behind the steering wheel is admittedly basic, but the 15.6-inch infotainment screen prominently in the centre of the dashboard definitely takes things up a notch. As expected, the E30X zips along. Its early acceleration is just what is needed to manoeuvre around some of the more mammoth vehicles in city traffic, and that bubble shape gives driver and passengers a decent view of what's happening around and about. The car slows down sharply, admittedly, but that is not unusual in smaller cars. It also means the best option for travel is its one-pedal mode. In fact, drivers probably only need to use the brake when they want to park. JAC has put some intriguing features in the E30X. The indicators, for example, make an ever-so-slightly different sound depending on which way the car is turning. Not the most useful thing, but indicative that JAC was seeking elements to make the car distinctive from the drawing board onwards. While getting up to speed on the motorway is no problem, the E30X is, realistically, an urban vehicle. The space for luggage is predictably minimal, so it might be worth opting for something bigger if going on a family trip that requires putting in some miles. However, the E30X fights its corner as a compact commuter vehicle, both in practicality and stylishness. It might be a budget option, but considering it's an electric car, it's a decent choice for the money.

'He Pulled The Trigger': Richard E. Grant Just Recalled The Terrifying Time His Dad Tried To Shoot Him When He Was 15 Years Old
This article mentions alcohol misuse and gun violence. British actor Richard E. Grant has spoken candidly about his father trying to shoot him when he was a teenager — with Richard only escaping unscathed because his dad was drunk and did not have good aim. The 67-year-old star, who is known for his roles in everything from Spice World to Saltburn, opened up about his difficult childhood in a recent appearance on the Begin Again with Davina McCall podcast. Speaking to the host, Richard reflected on growing up in Swaziland, now Eswatini, a small country in Southern Africa. He explained that his father got custody of him after his parents split, which made him feel 'rejected' by his mom. And despite his father becoming a 'monster' after he developed an addiction to alcohol, Richard maintained that, in hindsight, he would still choose to live with his dad. '[A friend asked me] would you have preferred to have lived with your mother, who is sober, or your father, who became an alcoholic [and] tried to shoot me when I was 15 when I emptied all his Scotch supply down the sink,' Richard began. 'I said I'd prefer to have lived with my father.' 'Even though he became an alcoholic after my mother left, the person that I knew and loved by day outweighed the monster that he turned into when he'd down a bottle of Johnnie Walker,' Richard explained, confirming that his dad would drink a bottle of the whisky a day. 'By 9 o'clock at night, there'd be a personality switch and he'd become unrecognizable.' Davina then asked the star if he ever felt 'safe' growing up, to which Richard shared: 'I felt safe; I found a surrogate maternal figure in my piano teacher, she fulfilled everything that my mother didn't, so I felt safe with her. But in my own family life, I never felt safe, never.' 'If you have a parent that's an addict, it's schizoid because who they are when they're sober and who they are when they're not…' Richard then trailed off. 'The part that I remember now, about my father, was when he was sober.' 'But when I'm doubtful, which is every day at some point, the voice of: 'You're not good enough, you're useless, you're ugly, you have no talent…' that's what comes. I have to consciously go: 'Shut up!' because that is what he'd say when he was drunk. That is what you remember,' he went on. The star then detailed the terrifying moment that his father aimed a gun at him and pulled the trigger when he was 15 years old, recalling: 'When my father tried to shoot me, I'd emptied all his Johnnie Walker Scotch into the scullery. I thought: 'If I get rid of all of this, somehow that might stop his drinking problem for at least a week.'' "I was halfway through [pouring] the eleventh bottle, gun at the back of my head. I ducked, went off, ran to the garden,' Richard went on. 'He finally found me, and said: 'I'm going to blow your brains out,' I said: 'Go on, do it, just get this over and done with.'' When Davina asked if he actually said that, Richard confirmed: 'Oh yeah, I did. I was so angry at this point. Then he pulled the trigger, but because he was drunk, it wavered. So it went straight past.' And this isn't the only time that Richard's dad is said to have tried to shoot him, with the star telling Radio Times in 2023 that he faced a similar near-miss when he sneaked out to watch 'triple-X' rated movie A Clockwork Orange at 15 years old. 'You couldn't see it until you were 18 years old,' Richard explained at the time. 'So I snuck in by telling the woman who was at the box office that she looked just like Elizabeth Taylor." The publication reports that when Richard got home from the movie theater, his drunken father was so angry he pulled a gun on him and took a shot that, fortunately, also missed. Despite this, Richard kept a relationship with his father until he died from lung cancer at age 52, when Richard was 24 years old. And during a past appearance on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs, Richard explained why he chooses to remember his father for more than just his abuse. He said: 'My memory of him is so much more than remembering that part of him, because I knew that that was something that was entirely brought about by addiction rather than the man that I absolutely worshipped and loved." On the other hand, Richard acknowledged having an 'incredibly complicated relationship' with his mom after she died at 93 in 2023. He said in a video that was posted to X at the time: 'She was somebody that was, for me anyway, emotionally withdrawn, and withheld her approbation or approval of anything, so nothing was quite good enough." "What that proved to be is a great motor for ambition and determination to try and prove yourself, and be the best that you possibly can," Richard went on. "And yet, ironically, whatever she did, she demanded and got applause and approval from everybody around her, including me." Richard then revealed that after years of estrangement, he spent time with his mom after his wife passed away in 2021, but it did not go well. He said: "I went to stay with her for a couple of weeks, six weeks after my wife had died, with Covid restrictions being lifted, and she sent me a very terse email at the end of the trip, saying 'I regret to say all of this was an absolute disaster. We only have two things in common, books and classical music.'" "Do I feel sadness that she has died? I feel resignation more than anything, but most of all gratitude, for having given me life," he concluded. Richard — who has a dual British and Swazi nationality — moved to the UK from Eswatini in 1982, one year after his father's death, and got his big acting break in the 1987 movie Withnail and I.
