McDonald's reveals new Chicken McWings, two dipping sauces will be permanently available on Australian menus after trial run
McDonald's has unveiled a permanent change to its menu set to take effect this week in stores across Australia. The fast food giant has confirmed Chicken McWings will now hold a regular place on Macca's menus in stores, drive-throughs and kiosks from Wednesday. Two new dipping sauces: smooth and creamy Ranch, and chilli and peppery Spicy Buffalo are also here to stay to accompany the chicken pieces, Macca's further revealed. Chicken McWings will be available in a three-piece serving with one sauce or a five-piece offering with two sauces, either on their own or in a meal. McDonald's Australia Marketing Director of Menu and Branding Amanda Nakad said the menu addition comes after a successful trial of Chicken McWings on social media. "It's been a while since we have added something new to the permanent menu, but the response to Chicken McWings during the trial made it clear: Aussies want more chicken options with their order," Ms Nakad said in a statement. "Chicken McWings are now claiming their spot next to other legends like the McChicken, McSpicy, McCrispy and Chicken McNuggets. "It's the golden era of chicken at Macca's - and we're just getting started." Popular Melbourne-based food influencer Nectorious Papi has lauded the menu change, saying the Chicken McWings have won him over. "My go-to combo is Chicken McWings with Ranch Sauce and a McFlurry to finish – it's seriously so good," he said in a statement. Chicken McWings can be purchased via drive-throughs, in-store kiosks, at the front counter and through the MyMacca's app. The fast food company has trialled a series of new items on its menu in the last couple of months, including limited-edition Vegemite fries as part of its summer menu. Last year, Macca's also released its McSmart Meal deal which is designed to give customers greater value for money while many Aussies feel the pinch financially amid a cost of living crisis. McDonald's recently recorded its largest drop in same-store sales in the United States since the Covid-19 pandemic at 3.6 per cent. Macca's also suffered a one per cent drop in global comparable sales in the first quarter of 2025.

McDonald's to launch McCrispy Strips with creamy chili dip
McDonald's is set to enhance its menu with the launch of McCrispy Strips and the Creamy Chili Cip across the US in all participating restaurants by 5 May. This chicken dish represents the brand's first new permanent menu item in the country since 2021. The McCrispy Strips are made from 100% white meat in a crispy, golden-brown breading flavoured with black pepper. The new offering will come with a choice of three or four pieces, accompanied by one or two Creamy Chili Dip cups, respectively. This new dip will be sweet and tangy and is designed to complement the taste of the McCrispy Strips. McDonald's chief marketing and customer experience officer Alyssa Buetikofer said: "Since stepping into my new role as a leader of the US business this year, I've been excited for fans to get to experience our additional chicken offerings. "The demand for chicken strips has been remarkable to see across the industry, so we knew we had to deliver something so craveable that it was worth the wait. We took our time, listened to our fans and created a product we knew they would crave." Customers can also opt to enhance their meal with McDonald's signature sauces, such as Spicy Buffalo, Tangy Barbecue or Creamy Ranch, to create their preferred flavour combinations. McDonald's senior vice-president and chief supply chain officer Cesar Piña added: "When we introduce a new menu item like McCrispy Strips, we know we have a big promise to fulfil to meet our customers' expectations. 'From the farms we source from to how food is prepared in our restaurants, bringing new products to our fans requires collaboration across suppliers, franchisees, and company staff. We hold ourselves to the highest standard and aim to bring fans nothing less than greatness."
