‘Stadiums, arenas in state buzzing due to govt's sports-friendly policies'
Hyderabad: Telangana Sports Authority Chairman Shivsena Reddy on Sunday said that all sports fields in the state were buzzing with sporting events due to the sports promotion policies being implemented by the Telangana state government. The Sports Authority Chairman participated as the chief guest in the 'Fit Formula Swimming Championship – 2025' held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on Sunday and presented awards to the winners. Speaking on this occasion, Shivsena Reddy said that the Telangana state government led by Revanth Reddy was giving high priority to sports and all sports fields in the state are buzzing with sports events. 'Telangana Sports Authority fully cooperates with various sports associations and private organisations in conducting sports events, which will create a good sports atmosphere in Telangana with various sports competitions,' he said. Organisers Kumar Vinod Paswan and others participated in the swimming competition. Freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke events were held in this competition, in which around 200 swimmers participated. Avya was declared the Player of the Match in the under-8 girls category, while Kolla Tarak won in the boys category. In the under-10 girls category, Bansiwal, and in the boys category, Siddharth, won the Player of the Match award. In the under-12 girls category, Krisha, and in the boys category, Kethan Nischithan, won the award. In the under-14 girls category, Kongara Sindhu, and in the boys category, Arjun Kaswan, won the award. In the under-16 girls category, Ritika, and in the boys category, Sohan, won the award. Sohan won the under-18 boys category. Sports Authority Chairman Shivsena Reddy presented awards to all of them.

AP government allocates 421 posts under sports quota in Mega DSC-2025; online applications open from May 2
VIJAYAWADA: The State government has officially released a notification allocating 421 posts under the 3 per cent sports quota in the upcoming Mega DSC-2025 recruitment drive. These posts are part of the 16,347 vacancies to be filled in government schools across the State. Eligible sportspersons can apply online from May 2 to May 31 through and Speaking at the Sports Authority headquarters in Vijayawada, Minister for Transport, Youth and Sports Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy said the government is committed to empowering sportspersons by offering fair employment opportunities based on merit, without the need for a written test. 'Sports build both physical and mental strength. Recognising this, our government is using sports as a tool for social development,' he said, thanking Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh for enabling this initiative. He said 333 posts are allocated in government, Zilla Parishad, and Mandal Parishad schools, 30 in municipal and corporation schools, 22 in AP Tribal Welfare Ashram schools, two in AP Residential schools, four in Model schools, seven in Social Welfare Residential schools, and 23 in Gurukula Welfare Residential schools. He assured a transparent selection process while warning of strict action against those submitting fake certificates. SHAP Managing Director Girisha and department officials were present at the event.

Missouri bill could pave way for Royals stadium in Clay County
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri senators introduced a bill that could pave the way for a Royals baseball stadium in Clay County. Lawmakers said the bill is an attempt to make sure the team stays in Missouri. Download WDAF+ for Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV The bill was introduced during a hearing on Monday. Senate Bill 710 would give Clay County the authority to establish a county sports complex authority. It would follow the same model as the Sports Authority in Jackson County, which owns the Truman Sports Complex — where the Chiefs and the Royals are currently located. The sponsors of the bill said the purpose of the proposal is to provide another location for a possible new stadium for the Royals or a new training facility for the Chiefs. Officials from Clay County testified during the hearing that their top priority is to provide the solution to keep both teams in Missouri.
