Semi carrying around 40K pounds of food items catches fire in Clark County

A semi carrying around 40,000 pounds of food items caught fire on Interstate 70 in Clark County over the weekend. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On Saturday, Aug. 16, around 2:30 a.m., troopers with the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) were dispatched to I-70 Eastbound on reports of a semi that had caught fire. The Freightliner caught fire and pulled onto the right shoulder. The driver, 51-year-old Ramior Barrios of Cochranville, Pennsylvania, was able to safely exit the semi and was not injured as a result. The tractor and trailer became fully engulfed in flames, according to the OSHP. The semi was hauling approximately 40,000 pounds of food items. News Center 7 previously reported that I-70 was shut down for several hours during the fire and cleanup of the crash. The crash remains under investigation. Saturday afternoon crash on Urbana Road leaves one dead, one injured

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – One man is dead after a Saturday afternoon vehicle and pedestrian crash in Clark County. According to the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 1:53 p.m. on Urbana Road, near Eagle City Road, Moorefield Township, Clark County. The initial investigation found a silver 2008 Chevrolet Aveo was stationary on the right shoulder of Urbana Road. The 36-year-old driver from Urbana was outside the vehicle, on the shoulder of the road. Officials said a red 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 50-year-old from Lebanon was traveling north on Urbana Road. The Silverado failed to maintain its lane of travel, driving on the right shoulder of the road, hitting the 36-year-old and the Aveo. The 36-year-old was declared dead on the scene. Medics took the Silverado driver to Springfield Regional for minor injuries. The crash is under active investigation. 2 NEWS will update this article when more information is available.
