‘Squid Game' Teases a Final Showdown in Full Season 3 Trailer
The Squid Games are just getting started. In the full trailer for the third and final season of Netflix's hit series, protagonist Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is back in the games after the failed rebellion that ended season two. This time, the stakes are raised and the competition in the very deadly games is even more deadly. More from The Hollywood Reporter 'Squid Game' Star Lee Jung-jae Is Happy With How Series Ends But Is "Very Nervous" For Fan Reaction Netflix's 'Wednesday' Releases First Six Minutes of Season 2, Officially Confirms Lady Gaga Guest Role 'Stranger Things' Premiere Dates Revealed for "Blockbuster" Final Season The season three trailer, released Saturday at Netflix's Tudum fan event, shows Gi-hun questioning the game's powers: 'Why didn't you kill me? Why did you keep me alive? Why did you let me live?' he screams. It also shows players making their way through a disorienting maze and playing a deadly game of jump rope before Gi-hun comes face to face with the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). Watch it below. Squid Game season three marks the final season of Netflix's global sensation created by Hwang Dong-hyuk. Viewers go back into the games with Gi-hun, Player 456, on June 27 when all episodes drop on Netflix. An episode count has not yet been announced, though six has been reported. Season two had ended on the devastating cliffhanger of the games being incomplete and Gi-hun and his subordinates once again being held captive. After winning the Squid Games in season one, Gi-hun was determined to dismantle them from the inside. The seven-episode second season explored Gi-hun's effort to do so, culminating in a finale where he found himself thwarted by Front Man, the enigmatic game leader played by Lee Byung-hun who was revealed to the audience — but not yet to Gi-hun — to be Player 001. Front Man executed Gi-hun's best friend, Player 290 Park Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan), as a warning about the consequences of his rebellion. New imagery around season three had previously revealed two new games — a massive gumball machine dispensing red and blue balls (representing the Xs and Os vote that will determine their fates) and the other, a new twist on the iconic Red Light-Green-Light game. The hope for the final season may lies in the ongoing outside mission to infiltrate the headquarters. Familiar faces return for season three: The Front Man, detective Hwang Jun-ho, and players Myung-gi (Player 333), Dae-ho (Player 388), Hyun-ju (Player 120), Yong-sik (Player 007), Geum-ja (Player 149), Jun-hee (Player 222), Min-su (Player 125), Nam-gyu (Player 124) and the pink guard No-eul. The third season concludes the story from Hwang, though the creator has shared several ideas about where he could spin off the franchise, which has already spawned reality series Squid Game: The Challenge and Squid Game: The Experience, a touring activation where fans can play games like the multiplayer video game Squid Game: Unleashed. Produced by Firstman Studio, executive producers include Hwang and Kim Ji-yeon. Head here for more on what to expect from season three. Netflix Tudum 2025 live event to showcase shows, music
Netflix Tudum 2025 is headed to the world's largest streaming service on Saturday, June 1, with fans eager to hear release dates, see exclusive footage and learn more about the streamer's eagerly anticipated upcoming TV show and movie releases. "Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event" will feature the casts of "Stranger Things," "Wednesday," Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein," and more, while providing behind-the-scenes content and live music. While Netflix's Tudum has been an annual event since 2020, this year it will be held in California and air live on Netflix as a special. Will the special reveal the "Stranger Things" season 5 release date? How about the official trailer for "Squid Games" or more about the launch date for the latest entry in the popular "Knives Out" movie series? Here's all you need to know. Tudum is the spelled-out word meant to represent the two-note sound that plays as the letter "N" is spelled at the start of Netflix's movies and series. (Mind blown, right?) Tudum is also the name of the companion site to Netflix, which offers fans a peak into deleted scenes, audition tapes, interviews, bonus videos and more. The site also provides the latest news on new shows and movies, provides data on top movies on the platform and offers recommended viewing based on your preferences. The onomatopoetic word also refers to the global pop culture event first held in São Paulo, Brazil, in January 2020. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th events were livestreamed on YouTube, and eventually broadcast globally from Brazil in June 2023. Neflix's Tudum has been an annual event since 2020, but this year is the first it'll be held in the U.S. and air live on Netflix. The format for this year's show — dubbed "Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event" — is a combination of "fanfare, variety show, comedic, music, live performances, talent, appearances," according to Variety. The event will give audience members a sneak peek at upcoming movies and shows via teasers, trailers and clips, and will introduce guests from TV and film, as well as include live music. Tudum 2025 is being held at the Kia Forum, a multipurpose arena adjacent to Los Angeles in Inglewood, California. Tickets are sold out on Ticketmaster, but they are available on trustworthy and vetted reseller sites StubHub, Vivid Seats and SeatGeek, with tickets as low as $12. Netflix Tudum 2025 will begin streaming live at 8 p.m. Eastern (5 p.m. Pacific). Netflix will be the sole streaming platform for Tudum 2025. Netflix does not offer a free trial, but you can cancel at any time or change your plan without any fees. Here are the plans you can sign up for: Standard with ads for $7.99/month, Standard without ads for $17.99/month and Premium (4K, HDR without ads) for $24.99/month. Actress Sofia Carson, known for "Carry-On" and "The Life List" will host the live event. Tudum 2025 will showcase and tease multiple shows and movies, with a strong lineup of guest stars, some of whom have been kept under wraps. Cast members will appear from the following TV shows and movies: MOVIES Frankenstein Happy Gilmore 2 My Oxford Year The Life List The RIP Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery TV SHOWS America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (Season 2) Emily in Paris (Season 5) Forever (Season 1) Ginny & Georgia (Season 3) Love is Blind My Life with the Walter Boys (Season 2) Nobody Wants This (Season 2) ONE PIECE (Season 2) Outer Banks (Season 5) Squid Game (Season 3) Stranger Things (Season 5) Wednesday (Season 2) WWE Bridgerton, which will be returning for Season 4 in 2026, was not specifically named, but a snippet of the show was featured in the Tudum 2025 trailer, hinting at a possible teaser. Lady Gaga will be performing at Tudum 2025 as well as Hanumankind (aka Sooraj Cherukat), a rapper from India. Lori Comstock is a New Jersey-based journalist with the Mid-Atlantic Connect Team. Netflix has figured out a way to make ads even worse using AI
Netflix will embrace AI-generated ads, whether we like it or not. The streaming service will roll out AI-generated ads in 2026 that will play in the middle of a show or whenever users hit pause for its ad-supported plans. During Netflix's Upfront event for its advertisers, Amy Reinhard, the company's president of advertising, showed off the upcoming feature for interactive midroll and pause ads that use generative AI for custom content. We've come a long way since Netflix's origin story of mailing out DVDs starting in 1997 and transitioning to an ad-free streaming service. Now more than ever, it feels like Harvey Dent's famous quote from The Dark Knight about living long enough to become the villain rings true for Netflix. The streaming service's longevity in the industry could be attributed to making compromises, like including ads, that take away from its initial glory. In a poetic turn of events, The Dark Knight trilogy was added to Netflix's library on April 1. This won't be the first time Netflix dabbled with AI. Last month, Netflix offered regional users a new search feature that uses OpenAI to find something to watch. Looking beyond AI-generated ads in 2026, it's not likely that the company will slow down on finding new ways to generate revenue. "So if you take away anything from today, I hope it's this: the foundation of our ads business is in place," Reinhard said during the Netflix event. "And going forward, the pace of progress is going to be even faster." The golden age of binge-watching an entire season of a Netflix show without ads could be a long-forgotten memory. Next year, don't be surprised if Netflix tempts you with a Baconator while you watch people succumb to the deadly consequences of Squid Games . If this eventual change has you rethinking your Netflix subscription, you can always cancel it or begrudgingly upgrade it to the Standard or Premium plans to avoid ads. Don't forget, Netflix has been steadily increasing subscription costs for its ad-free plans, which could push more users towards the standard plan with ads as the most accessible option.
