This World Cup winning India cricketer suspended for three years for making controversial remark on Sanju Samson, his name is.....

The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has handed a three-year suspension to former Indian pacer S Sreesanth after he made critical and allegedly false remarks about the KCA. His comments came in defense of Sanju Samson, who was left out of the Indian Champions Trophy squad. The suspension was finalized following a meeting on April 30th and bars Sreesanth from participating in any KCA-related cricketing activities. Notably, Sreesanth is also a co-owner of the Kollam Aeries franchise in the Kerala Cricket League. In addition to Sreesanth, the KCA also issued formal warnings to three Kerala Cricket League franchises—Kollam Aeries, Alappuzha Team Lead, and Alappuzha Ripples. These warnings were prompted by their association with content that criticized the KCA. Following these actions, the teams responded to the notices, and the KCA deemed their replies satisfactory, opting not to pursue further disciplinary steps against them. However, it urged the franchises to be more selective and responsible with team personnel going forward. The KCA has announced plans to file a lawsuit against Sanju Samson's father, Samson Vishwanath, and two others. This decision stems from claims that they made false and defamatory allegations using Sanju's name. The KCA aims to seek compensation for the reputational damage caused by these public statements, which it says were misleading and harmful to the association's image. The controversy erupted after Sreesanth appeared in a Malayalam TV interview where he openly criticized the KCA and voiced his support for Sanju Samson. The association quickly responded by issuing him a show-cause notice—not for backing Samson, but for his defamatory claims against the KCA. His statements were seen as linking the cricket board to alleged bias in team selections, igniting widespread attention in Kerala's cricketing circles. Image credit: Source: Instagram The KCA clarified that Sreesanth's comments also breached his contractual obligations as a part-owner of the Kollam Sailors franchise. By publicly making false allegations, he violated conduct guidelines outlined in his agreement with the league. The association cited this breach as a key reason behind his suspension. Additionally, the KCA contrasted its previous support for Sreesanth—particularly during his difficult times—with his recent actions, which they described as disappointing and unjustified. Image credit: Source: Instagram In its official statement, the KCA referenced Sreesanth's involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal. Although criminal charges were eventually dropped, he was never fully acquitted in the eyes of the cricket board. The association emphasized that it had extended support to Sreesanth during those times, making his current criticisms even more unwarranted in its view.

Former India fast bowler S Sreesanth denies receiving notice on KCA's three-year suspension, vows legal action

Former India fast bowler S Sreesanth has denied receiving any formal communication from the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) regarding his three-year suspension, claiming he learned of the disciplinary action only through media reports. The suspension was announced following Sreesanth's public criticism of the KCA over Sanju Samson's omission from India's ICC Champions Trophy squad earlier this year. In a statement issued on Friday, April 30, after a special general body meeting held in Ernakulam, the KCA accused Sreesanth of making 'false and defamatory' remarks against the association. His comments allegedly suggested that the KCA played a role in keeping Samson out of the national team by forcing him to play for Kerala. Mulling legal options 'I haven't received any official notice or order from the KCA. Everything I know is from media reports,' said Sreesanth in a media interaction. 'I still don't know the exact reason for this action. I was merely standing up for a fellow state player. Once we receive formal communication, we'll evaluate our legal options.' Sreesanth currently co-owns the Kerala Cricket League franchise Kollam Aries. He had made public remarks implying that Samson's non-selection was influenced by the KCA's internal politics. His statements prompted the association to issue show-cause notices not only to him but also to three franchise teams — Kollam Aries, Alleppey Team Lead Contender Sai Krishnan, and Alleppey Ripples. After reviewing the responses from the franchise teams, the KCA found their explanations satisfactory and decided not to pursue further disciplinary action. However, the association advised all franchises to be more cautious when appointing individuals to management positions. Action against Samson's father In a related move, the KCA has also announced plans to take legal action against Samson's father, Samson Vishwanath, former Kerala cricketer Reji Lukose, and a television news anchor for allegedly making defamatory statements against the association. A career marked by highs and lows Sreesanth has been no stranger to controversy throughout his career. Most notably, in 2013, he was arrested for alleged involvement in a spot-fixing scandal during the IPL while playing for Rajasthan Royals. Though he maintained his innocence, he was handed a life ban by the BCCI, later reduced to a seven-year suspension by the Supreme Court. That ban officially ended in 2020. After his return, he represented Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2021. His final first-class appearance came in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy season against Meghalaya. He retired from all forms of cricket in March 2023. By the numbers Sreesanth played 27 Test matches for India, claiming 87 wickets. In ODIs, he took 75 wickets in 53 appearances. He also featured in 10 T20 Internationals, picking up seven wickets. In the IPL, he represented Punjab Kings, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and Rajasthan Royals, with 40 wickets in 44 matches.

Sreesanth suspended by KCA for three years

Kochi: Former India speedster has been suspended by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) for three years. The decision to ban him was taken at its most recent annual general body meeting and was shared by the KCA in a statement issued on Friday. 'The statement of Sreesanth attacking the KCA for Kerala cricketer Sanju Samson not being included in the national side for the Champions Trophy tournament was baseless and needless. Hence, we have decided to suspend him for three years from the KCA,' read the statement. Sreesanth had alleged that Samson was sidelined by the KCA to play for the Kerala side last year and hence missed selection to the national team for the Champions Trophy. Meanwhile, Sreesanth is now waiting for the official communication from the KCA, and according to sources, he will be taking legal recourse against the three-year suspension. This is not the first time that Sreesanth has courted trouble, as the previous instance was in 2023 when the Legends League Cricket (LLC) Commissioner served him a legal notice following his rant over an on-field altercation with the present Indian men's team head coach and former national player Gautam Gambhir.

Kerala Cricket Association suspends Sreesanth for three years over remarks on Sanju's exclusion

KOCHI: The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has suspended former international cricketer S Sreesanth for three years, in a move that has triggered allegations of a coordinated crackdown against those who spoke out in support of Sanju Samson. The KCA has also announced legal action against Sanju's father, Samson Vishwanath, for remarks made against the association. The controversy began late last year when Sanju was left out of the Kerala squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the national 50-over championship. The decision raised questions about whether it contributed to his later omission from the national squad for the Champions Trophy held this year. Former players, including Sreesanth, accused the KCA of unfair treatment and selective targeting of Sanju. The KCA's statement, issued after a special general body meeting in Kochi on April 30, claims that Sreesanth and others made 'false and derogatory' remarks about the association. It also names Samson Vishwanath as among those who made 'baseless comments', and warns of legal proceedings. Sreesanth, co-owner of Kerala Cricket League franchise Kollam Aeries and an IPL commentator, has now been banned from participating in any KCA-related activities for three years. This also disqualifies him from voting or contesting in the upcoming KCA elections, a notable consequence considering his voting rights as a former international cricketer. 'No formal inquiry into selection controversy' Show-cause notices were earlier served on Sreesanth, his franchise team Kollam Aeries, Alleppey Ripples, and player Sai Krishnan. The two franchises were later cleared after their responses were found satisfactory. Critics argue that the KCA has focused on penalising those who questioned Sanju's exclusion rather than investigating the concerns raised. According to them, no formal inquiry into the selection controversy has been announced by the KCA. A former KCA officer-bearer said the timing of the sanctions — months after the controversy but just ahead of the association's elections — has added to suspicions of a retaliatory pattern, reinforcing concerns that Sanju and his supporters are being sidelined for challenging the association's decisions.

"Have not received any notice or order," says Sreesanth after 3-year ban from KCA

By Vipul Kashyap Kochi (Kerala) [India], May 2 (ANI): Former Indian cricketer S Sreesanth claimed that he didn't receive any notice from the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) about his three-year ban and is not aware of the reason behind the action from the state cricket board. The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has suspended S Sreesanth for three years, citing false and defamatory remarks made against the association amid the controversy surrounding Sanju Samson's omission from India's squad for the ICC Champions Trophy held earlier this year, as per a release from KCA. The decision was made during a special general body meeting of the KCA held in Ernakulam on Friday, April 30. 'I have not received any notice or order from the KCA; we have only heard it from the media. I don't know yet on what grounds or reasons the action is being taken. I was only backing a state cricketer.. Once we see the notice, we will explore our options,' Sreesanth said while speaking to ANI. Sreesanth, who currently serves as the co-owner of the Kerala Cricket League franchise Kollam Aries, had made critical public comments linking the KCA to Samson's exclusion. Following these statements, show-cause notices were issued to Sreesanth as well as to three franchise teams, Kollam Aries, Alleppey Team Lead Contender Sai Krishnan, and Alleppey Ripples. The general body reviewed the responses from the franchises and deemed them satisfactory. As a result, no further action will be taken against them. However, the KCA advised all franchise teams to exercise greater caution when appointing individuals to team management roles. The association also announced its intention to pursue legal action against Samson's father, Samson Vishwanath, former cricketer Reji Lukose, and a news anchor from the 24x7 news channel, citing defamatory remarks made in public forums against the association.S. Sreesanth's international cricket career was marked by moments of brilliance, controversy, and resilience across all formats. Sreesanth made his ODI debut for India in 2005 against Sri Lanka. He was later called up to the Test squad in 2006 for the England series and played a T20 match against South Africa the same year. He was part of India's 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup-winning teams. Across all formats, he played 90 matches and took 169 wickets at an average of 35.89 and an economy rate of 4.49. His best bowling figure, 6/55, came against England in 2006. In August 2013, the BCCI banned Sreesanth for life, along with teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, over alleged IPL spot-fixing. His ban was later reduced to seven years and ended in September 2020. He returned to domestic cricket in 2021, representing Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He also entered the IPL auctions in 2021 and 2022 but went unsold. Sreesanth played 27 Test matches, taking 87 wickets and scoring 281 runs. In 53 ODIS, he claimed 75 wickets. In T20IS, he played 10 matches and took seven wickets. In the IPL, he played for Punjab Kings, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and Rajasthan Royals, taking 40 wickets in 44 matches at an average of 29.85 and an economy of 8.14. (ANI)
