Later, the director visited Sridevi's home in Chennai, narrated the script, and signed her for the film. After its initial release, the film garnered huge heaps of praise for its amazing storytelling and groundbreaking performance, which became a huge reason for its success. The film, which was made under Rs 8 crore, mounted Rs 27 crore and emerged as a blockbuster and the highest-grossing film of that year. Janhvi is the 28-year-old daughter of Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor and late actress Sridevi. Her sister Khushi Kapoor is also an actress, as is her cousin, Sonam Kapoor.
