EXCLUSIVE: Drey Wright leaves St Johnstone and Dundee frontrunners to sign him

Drey Wright has decided to leave St Johnstone – and Dundee are the frontrunners to sign him. Courier Sport understands the 30-year-old informed Saints today that he won't be accepting their offer of a new contract. The Englishman has had two spells at McDiarmid Park, both of them successes. He was one of the players who could hold their head up high after a disastrous season, which culminated in relegation to the Championship. Ironically, the ankle injury which ruled Wright out for the last few games of the campaign, was one of the final nails in Saints' coffin. As is the case across the board for players and management, significant pay cuts have kicked in for life in the second tier. And Wright, a free agent, has had several top-flight sides interested in securing his services for the 2025/26 season. It is understood Dundee were showing a strong interest when Tony Docherty was in charge at Dens Park and that remains the case even though the Dark Blues are currently without a manager. They are the favourites to secure his signature. Saints have signed three players already – defenders Jack Baird and Morgan Boyes from Morton and Raith Rovers forward, Jamie Gullan. Sven Sprangler, out of contract like Wright, accepted fresh terms on a two-year contract earlier this week.

Saints add Raith forward Gullan on two-year deal

Relegated St Johnstone have continued their squad revamp by adding Raith Rovers forward Jamie Gullan on a two-year 25, spent a year with League of Ireland side Dundalk before returning to Rovers in January where he scored four goals in 18 appearances."I am over the moon to be here. As soon as the club were in touch and I had chats with the gaffer, I just wanted to get things done as quickly as possible," said Gullan."I am looking forward to working under him. Hopefully he can improve me as a player and hopefully I can help improve the squad too."Gullan is Saints' third new recruit this week after the arrival of Morton defenders Jack Baird and Morgan Boyes.

Victor Griffith opens up on St Johnstone challenge as Panama recall has pre-season impact

St Johnstone midfielder, Victor Griffith, aims to make up for lost time with the Panama national team. The 24-year-old signed for Saints in January, and playing for his country after a couple of years out of the picture was one of his aims. Head coach, Thomas Christiansen, wanted to call him up in March but Griffith decided that his recovery from an ankle injury would be better served by staying in Scotland. Although his form for the Perth side wasn't as good after that lay-off than it was before, he was recalled for Panama's June World Cup qualifiers and the Concacaf Gold Cup that follows on. And, speaking to the media back home, Griffith has been positive about his first few months at McDiarmid Park, despite the fact Saints were relegated from the Premiership. He is currently in a training camp and is expected to be confirmed in Panama's official 26-man squad at the start of next week. It has been suggested that Griffith has a strong chance of getting game-time. And he is excited about the prospect of adding to his 10 caps now that the wait for a recall has ended. 'I have high expectations,' he said. 'I've been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. 'Right now, I'm focused on doing well, on my return to the national team, and I want to accomplish everything the coach asks of me. 'Expectations are high, and we're always going to want to win.' On the challenges Griffith has faced in Scotland, he reflected: 'Well, it was actually quite a big step, going from the Panama league to European football. 'That's rarely seen before. 'The truth is that it's helped me a lot. Since I arrived there, they've given me enormous confidence. 'I played in positions that weren't my usual ones. 'They opened up a window of positions where I could perhaps show off a bit better or do things differently.' Panama's busy schedule is likely to have an impact on Griffith being able to hit the ground running with Saints next season, however. The last time there was a Gold Cup, they went all the way through to the final. If they repeat that this time around, the tournament won't conclude for Griffith until July 7. Saints return for pre-season training on June 23.

Jamie Gullan vows to run himself into the ground for St Johnstone

New St Johnstone forward, Jamie Gullan, has vowed to run himself 'into the ground' for the Perth club. The 25-year-old built up a reputation as one of the hardest-working and most versatile attackers in the Championship with Raith Rovers. And, after joining Jack Baird and Morgan Boyes in agreeing a two-year deal with Saints, he's hoping McDiarmid Park boss, Simo Valakari, will take his performances to an even higher level. 'I am over the moon to be here,' said Gullan. 'As soon as the club were in touch and I had chats with the gaffer, I just wanted to get things done as quickly as possible. 'I am so excited to get back for pre-season and to meet all the players now. 'It is an exciting time to be at the club and a fresh challenge for me. 'I have spoken to the gaffer two or three times now. Every time I speak to him, I get a good feeling. 'We have discussed how I will fit in. 'I am looking forward to working under him. Hopefully he can improve me as a player and hopefully I can help improve the squad too.' Gullan added: 'I am an attacking player who will leave everything out on the pitch. 'I'll run myself into the ground every game. I want to give everything for this club. 'I know a lot about St Johnstone already as my brother-in-law is a massive supporter. 'For the past few years I have been given a weekly report on how the club is doing and he always tells me how amazing the fans are. 'I can't wait to meet and play in front of everyone at McDiarmid Park when the season gets underway.' Gullan had no fewer than five spells with Raith, three of them loans. The most recent of them was his best and Stark's Park boss, Barry Robson, had hoped to persuade him to stay. Gullan, who was in the Hearts and Hibs academies as a youth, is renowned for his free-kick goals. A hard-worker off the ball, the two-footed attacker is equally at home playing through the middle or coming in off the left. Saints have hit the ground running in the transfer market since releasing 16 players, with plenty of recruitment work still to be done.
