Netflix notches a record quarter and signals more growth ahead

Netflix posted record-setting revenue and earnings for the second quarter on Thursday. The streamer also raised its forecast for the year. Analysts are eyeing the platform's plans to scale through live sports and TV, and grow its ads business. The streaming giant's revenue rose 15.9% year over year to $11.08 billion, and earnings hit $7.19 per share. Analysts surveyed by Bloomberg expected quarterly revenue of $11.06 billion and earnings of $7.09 per share. Netflix shares rose slightly in after-hours trading following the earnings release on Thursday. The company also raised its revenue forecast for 2025 to $44.8 billion to $45.2 billion, in part because of its momentum in growing subscribers and its advertising business. Wall Street has long crowned Netflix as the streaming king. The streamer's latest win comes on the heels of the success of "Squid Game." The show's third and final season debuted at No. 1 in every country where it debuted during its premiere week in late June. Netflix stopped reporting specific subscriber figures last quarter, which makes it difficult to gauge the platform's user growth. But estimates from third-party data firm Antenna suggest Netflix's gross monthly subscriber additions in the US have fallen from their peak. Analysts are focused on how the platform continues to scale through live sports and TV, as well as creator-driven partnerships. So far, Netflix has announced a return of a Christmas Day NFL game, a September fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terrence Crawford, and a forthcoming reboot of the late-80s hit "Star Search," among other live programming.

Who is Rosie O'Donnell? Comedian targeted by Donald Trump over citizenship threat; here's why she's back in the spotlight

Rosie O'Donnell (File Photo) US President Donald Trump on Saturday threatened to revoke the US citizenship from comedian Rosie O'Donnell. In his Truth Social post, the president wrote that O'Donnell "is not in the best interests of our Great Country. " He posted, "Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!" . The latest exchange came after O'Donnell publicly blamed Trump for severe flooding in Texas, arguing his administration's budget cuts had weakened the National Weather Service. Rosie O'Donnell Net Worth: How much is the American comedian worth, whose citizenship Trump is threatening to revoke?

Rosie O'Donnell, the spirited comedian, actress, and outspoken activist, is facing the wrath of the President of the United States of America – even after moving to Ireland earlier this year, after Trump's win. In a recent post on Truth Social, Donald Trump threatened to revoke Rosie O'Donnell's citizenship, calling her "a Threat to Humanity" who should 'remain in Ireland.' Trump wrote on his Truth Social account, "Because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!" But why such an outrageous threat? Turns out, the US President's remarks appeared to be a direct reaction to a TikTok video O'Donnell released earlier this month. In a video shared on social media, the American comedian and talk show host grieved the 119 lives lost during the July 4 floods in Texas and criticised the Trump administration for previously slashing funds to government agencies responsible for environmental monitoring and disaster forecasting. O'Donnell said in the video, 'What a horror story in Texas. And you know, when the president guts all the early warning systems and the weather forecast abilities of the government, these are the results that we're gonna start to see on a daily basis.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You To Read in 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Rosie O'Donnell Net Worth : Rosie O'Donnell, the New York native (born Roseann O'Donnell in 1962 in Commack, New York), is not only a multiple-Emmy-winning artist but also commands public fascination for her sharp wit and political candor. She used humor to cope after her mother died when she was 10, and went on to win stand-up contests on TV's Star Search in 1984. There was no turning back afterwards. With a successful career spanning over four decades, O'Donnell has built an impressive financial portfolio, which continues to thrive despite her moving out of America earlier this year. Let's take a look at her net worth, which is estimated at $80 million, a testament to decades of diversification – from hosting an Emmy-winning daytime talk show to lucrative real estate deals, authorship, stage performances, and entrepreneurial ventures. Rosie O'Donnell's Net Worth: The full breakdown Television triumphs O'Donnell rose to national prominence as the host of The Rosie O'Donnell Show (1996–2002). Earning around $5 million per year during its peak, the show's success earned her multiple Daytime Emmy Awards and the affectionate title 'Queen of Nice.' Her brief but headline-making tenure on The View (2006–2007, later 2014–2015) added significantly to her earnings. Film, Broadway, and stand‑up In the early 1990s, O'Donnell had memorable film roles in hits like A League of Their Own, Sleepless in Seattle, The Flintstones, and Beautiful Girls. She later returned to Broadway in productions like Grease and Fiddler on the Roof, while continuing to tour stand-up shows globally, both high-value income sources. Books and publishing ventures O'Donnell is a bestselling author with memoirs such as Find Me and Celebrity Detox, and even a series of children's joke books. Her book deals have brought in steady revenue. In 2000, she co-launched Rosie, a magazine that, though short-lived, diversified her creative portfolio. Real estate deals One of the key elements in O'Donnell's financial portfolio has been her real estate choices: She bought a Star Island mansion in Miami for $6.75M, and sold it for $16.5M. Owned a Saddle River, NJ estate, sold in 2021 at a $1M loss. Purchased an $8M NYC triplex in 2017, listed at $7.5M in 2024. Bought and later listed properties in LA and West Palm Beach. These strategic purchases and sales secured her millions of dollars in profit. Even properties that sold at a loss didn't detract much from her overall wealth. Ongoing ventures, activism, and philanthropy Although O'Donnell moved to Ireland earlier this year, effectively shifting herself out of the Hollywood center, she remains commercially active through guest appearances on TV series, streaming specials, voice roles, stand-up, and more. She has also co-founded R Family Vacations, the first travel company for LGBTQ families. Along with that, her SiriusXM radio show and digital collaborations (e.g., with OWN) keep her income flowing. Though not monetarily lucrative, O'Donnell's philanthropic work, through For All Kids Foundation, Broadway Kids, and advocacy, has only enhanced her brand over the years, allowing her to sustain relevance and influence.
