'Best looking Premier League player' stunned Laura Woods when he said she'd be his dream date

'Best looking Premier League player' stunned Laura Woods when he said she'd be his dream date Laura Woods has done many things throughout her career in sports broadcasting, but fans always enjoyed her segments where she discussed the dream dates of several sports stars One of Laura Woods' go-to questions on the radio was to ask sports stars who their dream date would be (Image: Photo by James Gill - Danehouse/Getty Images ) Before Laura Woods got engaged to ex-Love Island star Adam Collard, former Chelsea and Premier League midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek said he would like to go on a date with her. With a strong following on social media, Woods has captured the hearts of many fans and sports personalities throughout her career. While she has established herself as a top television presenter, many of her admirers will always refer to her classic segments on talkSPORT, where she and Ally McCoist enjoyed asking their interview subjects who they would like to take on a first date. ‌ In an interview with Loftus-Cheek, who now plays for AC Milan, the ex-England international took her by surprise when he chose Woods herself. Considering her comments in the months after that interview, Loftus-Cheek may have felt like he should have made a serious offer. ‌ In another interview, she was reminded about that particular moment, which amused many football fans. Woods went on to describe him as one of the most handsome players in the Premier League. In an interview with the Staying Relevant podcast in 2023, she said: "On talkSPORT, we love anything like that if it's a great opportunity to talk about sex. Someone had asked Anthony Joshua who his dream date was and he said Beyonce. "So we all did our dream dates and tried to get a date off the back of it. I said [actor] Leo Suter, he is amazing. Ally [McCoist] said Claudia Schiffer. After that I had to do an interview with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and asked him the same thing and he said me. Article continues below "I was like, 'Good god.' Ruben is probably the best looking player in the Premier League. I didn't mind that at all! That is the quote for my wall. It is excellent to have an association with someone who looks like he has been carved by Jesus." Loftus-Cheek made his thoughts perfectly clear on Woods (Image: Photo by Image) Loftus-Cheek wasn't the last British athlete to pick her on the segment. Former heavyweight boxing champion of the world Anthony Joshua also followed Loftus-Cheek's lead when he was asked to choose somebody to go for a date with. ‌ He told the presenter: "You. I know Loftus-Cheek has beaten me to it," to which Woods responded: "It's fine, there's no competition!" Woods and Collard's relationship has accelerated ever since they confirmed they were dating in October 2023. Just under 12 months after they announced they were an item, Collard got down on one knee at a beach in Cornwall and asked Woods to marry him. Woods opened up about the difficulty she had working at Euro 2024 while pregnant (Image: 2024 Simon Stacpoole/Offside ) ‌ Woods would go on to announce that she had given birth to their son, Leo Ernie Collard, in January 2025. In August 2024, before she went into labour, she spoke to The Times and revealed that she was battling morning sickness while she was working at the 2024 European Championships. She said: "It was constant, the morning sickness was quite difficult to battle and I was exhausted all the time. At least there were rest days when I was able to just chill out in my [hotel] room. Article continues below "I would have liked to keep it quiet for a little bit longer but I really felt like I couldn't any more and now I've done it it's a relief."

Laura Woods said 'good god' when 'best-looking EPL star' admitted he fancied her

Laura Woods is one of the most popular presenters in football and that was evident when one ex-Chelsea player admitted his admiration of her Laura Woods is engaged to ex-Love Island star Adam Collard, but it was not long ago that Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek wanted to take her out on a date. Woods has thousands of fans on social media and plenty of admirers who compete in sports themselves. One of her most popular segments was on talkSPORT, where she regularly asked guests who they would love to take on a date. Anthony Joshua tried his luck with the broadcaster, saying he would happily take Woods out. ‌ The former heavyweight champion of the world was not the first athlete to list her during the classic segment. Woods, who recently welcomed a baby boy into the world, was first serenaded by AC Milan midfielder and ex- Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who caught her off guard by choosing her. ‌ At the time, she had not started dating Collard, so it's possible the feeling was mutual, even though the midfielder did not follow up on his request. Perhaps he should have, as Woods admitted that she thought the star, who has 10 international caps for England, was the best looking player in the Premier League. During an interview with the Staying Relevant podcast back in 2023, she said: "On talkSPORT, we love anything like that if it's a great opportunity to talk about sex. Someone had asked Anthony Joshua who his dream date was and he said Beyonce. "So we all did our dream dates and tried to get a date off the back of it. I said [actor] Leo Suter, he is amazing. It is excellent to have an association with someone who looks like he has been carved by Jesus.' Loftus-Cheek was not the last British athlete to choose her on the segment. Joshua made his intentions clear, when he said: "You. I know Loftus-Cheek has beaten me to it," to which Woods replied: "It's fine, there's no competition!" ‌ It has been a whirlwind couple of years for Woods and Collard, ever since they announced they were an item in October 2023. Last September, Woods and Collard announced that they had got engaged after he proposed to her on a beach in Cornwall. In January 2025, Woods gave birth to their son Leo Ernie Collard. In an interview with the Times in August 2024, the presenter revealed she had been battling morning sickness while she was pregnant despite working during the European Championship. ‌ She said: "It was constant, the morning sickness was quite difficult to battle and I was exhausted all the time. "At least there were rest days when I was able to just chill out in my [hotel] room. Sam Thompson's Soccer Aid appearance hangs in balance after smashing charity challenge

One particularly powerful moment came on day three, when an exhausted Thompson, overwhelmed with self-doubt, broke down in tears. 'I'm not the guy, man,' he said during a heart-to-heart with best friend and Staying Relevant co-host Pete Wicks. Wicks didn't hesitate: 'You are the guy. You were the guy before you started. You're the guy now, and you're gonna be the guy when you finish. You've got this.'

Sam Thompson crosses the marathon finish line in agony after raising £1,500,000

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Sam Thompson was full of emotion as he crossed the finish line of his mammoth 260-mile endurance challenge, which has seen him raise £1.5million for charity. The Made In Chelsea star, 32, has undergone an impressiv journey transporting the Soccer Aid matchball 60 miles from London's Stamford Bridge to Manchester's Old Trafford ground. Sam took part in the challenge to raise money for Unicef, which provides aid to children, including health, nutrition, education, and emergency relief. He has battled through agonising pain to make it to the finish line, after a nasty injury on the first day when he tore his calf muscle. The podcast host made it to the end on foot, however, and was embraced by his sister Louise, her fiancé Ryan Libbey, and their three-year-old son Leo. Sam has raised a whopping £1,516,433 for Unicef, sharing his thanks to those who have supported him along the way. 'My legs have completely gone, but I feel good. I'm so grateful for everyone being here, I didn't think anyone would turn up,' he said (per MailOnline). 'To everyone who has donated, I've said it before, but I'll say it a million times, you are so heroic. The money will help so many children, I'm so grateful.' Speaking to MailOnline, he revealed how he was left 'crying into his physio' when he thought his leg injury meant he could not complete the marathon. 'And just 2km away from the finish line of the first marathon on day one, my calf popped, and when that happened, I remember crying,' he said. 'I was crying into the physio, whose a lovely guy, into his arms pretty much being like: 'I'm not going to be able to do this,' and he went 'I don't know what to tell you, this isn't go away, you're not going to be able to put any weight on it, it's a three-and-a-half, four week recovery period, so I don't know what to tell you, and I just burst into tears. That was a really bad day.' He has been supported along the way by several famous faces, including Chris Hughes, Jamie Laing, and Staying Relevant podcast co-host Pete Wicks. Speaking to Metro earlier in the week, Sam shared how he was determined to 'stop crying' when being surprised by his supportive pals along the way. 'I've decided I'm not going to cry anymore. I can't keep crying. I keep crying. I cried like, three times already, and we're on day three! 'It was, I don't know how to describe it. It's, it's one of those things where, because you just don't know it's coming, and you're in a world of pain, and you're just trying to think, 'one foot in front of the other, one foot in front of the other.' 'And then you see somebody who'd been your rock through everything, just at some random junction, like in the middle of the road. 'I can't explain the feeling. It's just like, it's like seeing home when you are miles away.' He also praised the support fellow reality TV star Laing gave him, who ran his own ultramarathon for Comic Relief. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'I spoke to him a lot. He's a very good friend of mine. He's been messaging me throughout this, actually, as well. He's really been there for me, and he's obviously been through it himself,' he continued. More Trending 'So I'm so grateful to have him there as well.' He added that all the people who have come out to support him, along with the money he's raising for an incredible cause, are keeping him going during the tough moments. 'I'm just a vehicle – clearly a bad vehicle because I can't even keep one leg good – but I'm a vehicle for this journey. The journey is all about Unicef. It's all about the kids,' Sam said. 'It's the donors who donate, and the donations that are coming in. Any person who literally donates one pound is the hero of this story. And it's just, it has shocked me just how heroic people are to do this when times are obviously incredibly tough. It just, it's blown me away.' Got a story? Pete Wicks and Louise Thompson savagely mock Zara McDermott as they support Sam

Sam Thompson's best friend Pete Wicks and sister Louise Thompson have mocked his ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott six months on from their shock split as he takes on a gruelling Unicef challenge Pete Wicks has taken a huge swipe at Sam Thompson 's ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott during the Made In Chelsea star's 260-mile endurance challenge on both bike and foot in aid of Unicef. Holding a sign that read 'You caaaaaan' - a cheeky nod to Zara's emotional plea to Sam after her cheating confession - the TOWIE star shouted the words with a cigarette in his mouth. Posting the moment on Instagram, Pete wrote: 'Pete pulled through with the best motivation. Sam was a big fan. Drop in the comments which sign is your favourite?' ‌ Sam, 33, mid-run and visibly limping from a calf injury, broke down in tears when he spotted Pete waiting for him. In the emotional clip shared on their Staying Relevant page, the pair embraced, with Pete reassuring him: 'You all right? Come here. It's alright.' Sam, surprised, replied: 'I didn't know you were coming.' ‌ 'Of course I'm coming. Do you think I'd miss this?' Pete said. 'I'm so proud of you. You're smashing it.' Sam then admitted through tears: 'I don't think I'm smashing it." Pete didn't hesitate in his response as he encouraged: 'You are smashing it. Are you still going? There you go. You're smashing it... You're the guy before you started, you're the guy now and you're going to be the guy when you finish. You got this.' Sam's big sister Louise also took a swipe at Zara after Pete's hilarious quip. On TikTok and Instagram, Louise, 35, used the iconic sound 'You can' from Zara's emotional breakdown on Made In Chelsea. The move didn't go unnoticed by fans who were left in hysterics. "Ohhhhh Zara is not going to be pleased about this one guys," one fan quipped. Another echoed: "SHADE of the highest degree. I couldn't love this anymore." Someone else joked: "I have a feeling Zara is gonna be livid about this. What GREAT use of this iconic sound." ‌ Sam began the gruelling challenge on June 2, aiming to run a marathon a day - with some cycling due to injury - until he reaches Old Trafford for Soccer Aid on June 15, raising funds for children's welfare through UNICEF. The former TOWIE and Made In Chelsea stars have forged a solid bond over the past six years. Speaking to The Mirror recently about his strong friendship with Sam, Pete said his best friend truly came out of his shell and realised his worth when he and Zara, 28, split in December. Zara, who is now smitten with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, is said to have ended her five-year relationship with Sam before Christmas. "Sam had a 'different' start to the year," Pete said of Sam's split with Zara. "Part of being someone's friend is being there no matter what – to say, 'things are always going to get better,' and they have." ‌ Pete then confessed that Sam is more self confident and self-assured than ever after the break-up. "He's great. Sometimes it's about allowing people to work on themselves, realise their worth. I hope I've helped him do that, because he's amazing, and he deserves the best," his best friend gushed. "Sam's my little finger! He's unapologetically himself. People think the dynamic stops once the cameras are off but no, he still rings me 15 times a day to chat. It's nice to share this mad journey with someone I love. He'll have a heart attack when he finds out I've said that."
