Man appears dazed after falling off motorbike in Geylang A motorcyclist fell to the ground at a traffic junction in Geylang in the early hours of May 28. A Stomper alerted Stomp to a video posted by Facebook user Wilfred Tung of the incident that happened at Geylang Road at about 5.23am. In the video, the traffic lights turn green but the motorcyclist has trouble moving off. He eventually falls to the road with his bike. Wilfred and a bus captain rush to the rider and help him lift his motorcycle upright. In his post, Wilfred said that he suspects the rider was 'high' on Kpods - vape juice that is usually mixed with etomidate, an anaesthetic used in some non-surgical procedures. Wilfred wrote: "I ask him, 'Eh bro, you okay or not?' He smile smile and say 'Sorry ahh, I tired'." After noticing the rider holding something in his left hand, Wilfred asked him: "You sure is tired... or Kpods?" "Eh please leh, your own life don't want cherish never mind, but don't sabo other people leh. "And this stupid Kpods really destroy people." Kpods have been linked to a number of recent cases involving erratic behaviour and public disturbances and have been described as a 'growing scourge' in Singapore. Stompers debate about table hogging couple during peak hours

If you were dining out, would you give up one of two tables when asked to? One such situation is sparking comments on Stomp. The post, made on 26 May, details the disappointment and frustration of a diner experiencing table hogging. Here's what happened: when Stomper, Linda, was trying to find seats at Chocolate Origin, they tried asking if a couple would give up a table to them and were turned down. Even when the store's staff asked, the couple refused, stating that they required both tables for their items. In the picture uploaded with the Facebook post, you can see the couple's items spread over the two tables. To their credit, the tables are round and rather small, which justified their need for two tables instead of one. However, according to the post, the couple had already completed their meal. Intrigued, I decided to investigate further. This post was made on a Monday at 5.38pm. The Stomper also mentioned that they had headed to the store in the evening. According to Google, this outlet was usually as busy as it gets from 5pm to 7pm on Mondays. Furthermore, a Google reviewer shared that this Chocolate Origin has now been merged with a Cacao Cat outlet. This resulted in a loss of seating space. As someone who regularly has study or work sessions at cafés, having unfinished food or drinks is the main – if not only – reason for staying at the establishment beyond a certain amount of time. Especially when there are other paying customers waiting for a seat. So if the couple had already completed their meal, were they truly entitled to their seats? Even without leaving, clearing off their unused plates might have freed up a table for Linda. I have seen other cafés imposing a dining time limit during peak hours, and table hogging situations we see on Stomp are probably related to their decision. While it's 100% okay to take as much time as you wish when stores are empty, practising proper etiquette during crowded times is important. Ultimately, the store is a public space for all. Perhaps the couple could look into co-working spaces for a more conducive environment, unlike a busy café with less than 10 seats. So, considering this scenario, I ask you again: would you have given up your table? Mazda driver goes against traffic flow in Serangoon, forces taxi to reverse A black Mazda was caught on video going against the flow of traffic along Serangoon North Avenue 1, forcing a taxi driver to reverse to give way. Stomper Lau Lau alerted Stomp to the incident, which happened around 10.30pm on May 23. In a video posted to Facebook, the Mazda CX-8 is seen driving straight into oncoming traffic, leaving a taxi driver with no choice but to reverse to give way. Several onlookers can be seen observing the situation, while loud honking can be heard in the background. After reaching a junction, the Mazda quickly turns and speeds off. Netizens weighed in on the video, with one commenting: "I am surprised the taxi driver was so accommodating." Another chimed in: "If I were the taxi driver, I wouldn't even reverse." A solution to the issue was presented by another netizen: "Scissors paper stone. Loser steps back." Yishun resident finds tiny bat lying motionless in her kitchen balcony: 'Is it dead already?'

Yishun resident finds tiny bat lying motionless in her kitchen balcony: 'Is it dead already?' A woman was shocked to find a tiny motionless bat lying on the kitchen balcony railing of her Housing Board flat at Yishun Avenue 6. Fearful and unsure what to do, Stomper Susan contacted Nee Soon Town Council for help. "Scary," she said. When the town council staff member arrived and saw the grounded bat, he asked: "Is it dead already?" Susan explained that it was alive and had crawled across the railing. PHOTOS: STOMP This was the first time Susan had ever encountered a bat, and although she was afraid, she couldn't help but feel bad for it as she thought it was a baby. She told Stomp on May 21: "I hope the bat's mother can find it and get it back." According to Wildlife Rescue Centre Acres, there were more bat groundings reported in areas like Punggol, Sembawang, and Yishun in 2024. Stomp asked Ms Nicole Dorville, a PhD student from the Asian School of the Environment at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and co-founder of NTU Grounded Bat Surveys study. She confirmed that the bat was a Javan Pipistrelle, a common, small bat species. So although it looked like a baby, like Susan thought it was, it could have been an adult. The town council staff member used a plastic bag and a towel to pick it up gently. PHOTO: STOMP Ms Dorville explained that the towel helps avoid bites, and the plastic prevents exposure to germs. She advised the public against touching bats, even when encountering one that is grounded, and to call Acres' Wildlife Rescue Hotline (9783 7782) or NParks' Animal Response Centre (1800 476 1600) when encountering a grounded bat. She said: "It's not that the bat is angry or aggressive, it's more that people are not usually very careful." If you encounter a bat in your home, Acres' bat advisory notice advises turning off the lights and ceiling fans, and open windows and doors so it can exit safely.
