RM Beats His BTS Bandmate J-Hope's Record With A New No. 1
RM, the frontman of the globally-adored boy band BTS, finds his way back to a handful of Billboard rankings this week with his new collaboration, "Stop the Rain." The track sees him teaming up with fellow South Korean powerhouse Tablo, but the tune doesn't sound anything like a BTS top 40 radio smash. Instead, the two rappers look to hip-hop's past for sonic inspiration and delve deep into their feelings to deliver a surprisingly candid — and sometimes dark — composition, one that has already proven to be a strong seller in America. "Stop the Rain" debuts at No. 1 on one of the four tallies on which it arrives this frame. The collaboration between RM and Tablo launches in the top spot on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. It enters in first place on the list of the bestselling rap-only tunes in the U.S., with a little more than 3,500 copies purchased, according to Luminate. This new tune gives RM his third No. 1 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. He first led the charge alongside Anderson .Paak on "Still Life" in December 2022. Last year, he doubled his total sum when he joined Megan Thee Stallion on "Neva Play." With a trio of champions now to his credit, RM breaks a tie with J-Hope for the second-most leaders on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart among South Korean musicians. He trails behind only Suga, his BTS bandmate, who has led the ranking both under that name and as Agust D. "Stop the Rain" earns RM his lucky thirteenth top 10 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. That figure includes a pair of tracks — "Yun" with Erykah Badu and "Nuts" — that missed out on ruling by just one space. Impressively, RM has never appeared lower than No. 7 on this genre-specific list. He settled into that space in June 2024 alongside Domi & JD Beck on the track "?" (Interlude).

BTS's RM Misses Very Important Charts With His New Single
BTS superstar RM is back on the Billboard charts as a soloist with a special collaboration. This week, as the group that brought him to international superstardom remains on hiatus, the singer and rapper joins fellow South Korean talent Tablo on the track "Stop the Rain," a hip-hop tune that American fans of both artists were quick to embrace. While the cut opens high on a pair of tallies, it doesn't manage to perform well outside of one consumption metric. This speaks to both how it was promoted and the dedication of followers of both RM and Tablo. "Stop the Rain" launches inside the top five on two charts in the United States. It opens at No. 1 on the Rap Digital Song Sales list and comes in at No. 4 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales tally. Luminate reports that in the first seven-day tracking period during which "Stop the Rain" was available to American consumers, it sold a little more than 3,500 copies. The track earns an impressive showing on both the Digital Song Sales and Rap Digital Song Sales charts — but that's it. It doesn't appear on any other U.S.-based rankings this week. It completely misses the Radio Songs and Streaming Songs charts, and most importantly, the Hot 100. The fact that "Stop the Rain" opens at No. 1 on the Rap Digital Song Sales list but fails to chart on other rap-focused rankings – such as the Rap Streaming Songs or Hot Rap Songs tallies — suggests that its performance on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music was lackluster, especially when compared to its strong sales. "Stop the Rain" also received little to no radio attention in the U.S., but it likely wasn't promoted for serious airplay, so that result isn't entirely surprising. The RM/Tablo tune also misses the upper half of both of Billboard's worldwide rankings. It launches at No. 116 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and No. 178 on the Billboard Global 200. With what must be a few thousand additional purchases outside of only the United States, it seems that streaming activity didn't significantly add to those figures.

BTS Singer RM Returns To No. 1 On A Billboard Chart
In just a few months, the world may get to hear new music from BTS. Several of the seven singers who make up the South Korean boy band are still enlisted in the South Korean military, so the group cannot record new material as a whole just yet. The individual members who are free to pursue their music careers after completing their mandatory service – required of all men by a certain age in the country – are busy with solo ventures. This week, BTS frontman RM returns to the Billboard charts with a brand new bestselling release, and he's not alone. RM teamed up with fellow South Korean artist Tablo for the exciting collaboration 'Stop the Rain.' The duet leans into old-school hip-hop sounds and deals with some fairly negative emotions, which may have helped endear the tune to many listeners thanks to its striking honesty. 'Stop the Rain' quickly becomes one of the top-selling tracks in America as it arrives, earning both Tablo and RM impressive placements on several tallies. 'Stop the Rain' launches on four Billboard rankings this week, but only two of them are based solely in the United States. The RM/Tablo team-up opens highest on the U.S.-only rosters on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart, which ranks the bestselling rap tracks in the nation. The cut marks a first leader for Tablo, and the third as a soloist for RM. It also manages to enter the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart at No. 4. 'Stop the Rain' starts so high thanks to a little more than 3,500 copies sold, according to Luminate. The tune also performed well enough in its first seven-day tracking period to reach both of Billboard's worldwide lists. It opens at No. 116 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., which blends sales and streaming activity from around much of the world — excluding American listeners. The two South Korean stars don't rise quite as high on the Billboard Global 200, where U.S. activity is factored in. On that list, 'Stop the Rain' starts at No. 178, coming in more than 60 spaces beneath its position on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. That shows that international plays on streaming sites and purchases on download platforms were largely to thank for the title's debut on either roster.

BTS leader RM and Tablo's Stop The Rain is a stark, unfiltered look at mental health
Released on May 2, Stop The Rain isn't a traditional collaboration between two of Korean music's most prominent voices. Instead, it's a raw, introspective piece from Epik High's Tablo and BTS's RM — a song that prioritises honesty over polish, and catharsis over just over three minutes, the track opens in a low register and stays there without any dramatic arc. The production is sparse — subdued beats, ambient textures, and enough space for the lyrics to hit without distraction. There are no hooks built for radio. Just atmosphere, weight, and a sense of emotional sets the tone immediately with lines that cut deep: 'I'm all in with a losing hand / Teachers called me rebel / Parents called me lost / Pastors called me devil.' His verse walks through childhood trauma, religious guilt, and the psychological impact of being misunderstood. These aren't abstract musings — they're specific, lived experiences, delivered with clarity and restraint. He questions whether perspective — often seen as a gift — is worth much when you're in constant danger: 'What good's a bird's eye view when you're in a hunter's crossfire?' Then comes RM, shifting the energy without softening or sugarcoating it. His delivery is quieter as he reflects not only on past struggles, but on the present fatigue that comes from carrying them. 'The rain, the rain will fall / And tomorrow may not come,' he says — not as a metaphor, but as a statement of reality. His verse touches on suicidal ideation, burnout, and the pressure of being seen as strong while feeling fragile chorus strips everything down to its emotional core: 'Can't run away from the pain / I feel like I'm goin' insane / Bad thoughts fillin' up my brain / Demons swimmin' inside my veins.' It's a plainspoken account of mental health spirals — and a refusal to tidy them up for the sake of makes Stop The Rain stand out isn't just its lyrical depth — it's the fact that neither artist seems interested in turning their pain into performance. It's mutual documentation of what it feels like to live with internal storms that don't accompanying animated video reinforces the song's tone. Black-and-white visuals show characters submerged in water, caught in endless rain, suspended in a kind of emotional to Tablo, the track was recorded before RM's military enlistment and held for release as a gesture of mutual respect. He's described the song as 'pages from our journals,' and that description holds true. This is not a promotional single. It's a personal a musical landscape which is often shaped by image and performance, Stop The Rain doesn't ask to be liked. It just asks to be heard. And that's what gives it Watch
