Six-point agenda will guide us for next 45 years: Andhra CM Naidu

KADAPA: Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, on Day 2 of Mahanadu 2025, described the Stree Shakti resolution for women empowerment as a game changer, promising zero tolerance to smear campaign or indecent remarks against women on social media. 'Those who misbehave with girls - that will be your last day,' he warned. Stree Shakti is one of the six key resolutions unveiled by TDP national general secretary and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh aimed at shaping a progressive and inclusive future for Andhra Pradesh. Announcing a series of welfare measures, Naidu said free RTC bus travel for women will be implemented from August 15. He promised to empower women both politically and economically, stating that one lakh DWCRA women will be transformed into entrepreneurs. Naidu paid floral tributes to the statue of TDP founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao on his 102nd birth anniversary, calling him 'the soul of Telugu self-respect' and 'a transformational leader who redefined governance as sacred service.' He said the six transformative resolutions launched under 'Naa Telugu Kutumbam' (My Telugu Family) by Lokesh will rewrite the history and define the future of the Telugu people. 'These six resolutions are visionary pillars that will guide us for the next 45 years,' Naidu said, emphasising that these reforms were designed to realign the party's governance in step with the changing aspirations of the people.

TDP stage set for Nara Lokesh elevation to working president, Chandrababu's No. 2

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary Nara Lokesh is likely to be elevated to the post of the party's working president during its upcoming conclave. The son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh, is also the state Minister for Human Resource Development, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication. The TDP is a key ally of the BJP-led NDA at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh. A TDP source told The Indian Express, 'Chandrababu Naidu will continue to be the national president of the party. Palla Srinivasa Rao will remain the party's state unit chief. A new role – the party working president – is being created for Nara Lokesh now.' Lokesh's elevation is expected to take place during the TDP's crucial three-day conclave, called 'Mahanadu', which is getting underway in Kadapa on Tuesday. The TDP source, however, also said that 'the appointment of Lokesh to the new party post could be delayed only if Chandrababu Naidu thinks that Mahanadu is not the right occasion for it'. Lokesh, 42, would be named the TDP working president in view of his 'contributions to the party', the source said. In the TDP circles Lokesh was credited with playing a significant role in the party's resounding win in the 2024 Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in the state. Lokesh has adopted a six-pronged strategy to lead the TDP. He has been calling for 'uniting the Telugu identity worldwide', stressing on the concept of 'my Telugu family'. He has been focusing on the 'Stree Shakti' programme to ensure leadership roles for women. 'Lokesh has also focused on welfare schemes and social justice measures to empower the backward classes (BCs) and other backward communities,' a TDP leader said, adding that he has been promoting Yuvagalam or youth empowerment through creation of opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship. 'Besides farmers' development, Lokesh is also pushing for a 'Cadre is the Leader' programme meant to promote the grassroot leadership in the party,' the TDP leader said, adding that these six focus areas, dubbed 'six pillars of the party's new vision', would be discussed at length during the Mahanadu. TDP leaders have attributed Lokesh's rise to his 'role in government' too. As a Minister, Lokesh brought out a new IT policy besides streamlining the investment process, they said, adding that 'he has also attracted investors who had left Andhra Pradesh during the tenure of the previous YSRCP government'. 'In the field of education, Lokesh has worked to fill teachers' vacancies and bring about a qualitative change in students' learning experience,' a TDP leader claimed. His appointment as the TDP working president would effectively reinforce Lokesh's position as Chandrababu Naidu's No. 2 in the party. In his debut election in 2019, Lokesh had lost to the YSRCP's candidate in the Mangalagiri Assembly constituency in Guntur district by over 5,000 votes. He bounced back in the 2024 polls to win the seat by over 91,000 votes. His padayatra (foot march) spanning 3,132 kms across the state was listed by the TDP as one of the factors for its win in the 2024 polls. Lokesh's elevation is also seen in the TDP to be in line with the 'generational shift' which Naidu seems to be effecting in the party ranks. 'Decisions taken by Lokesh are not questioned by Naidu as he has complete confidence in him. The two are in perfect sync,' a TDP leader said.

Lokesh to unveil six-pillar vision at TDP's Kadapa Mahanadu

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is preparing to chart a new course at its annual conclave Mahanadu 2025, scheduled to be held for the first time in Kadapa, between May 27 to 30. Exclusive information from the highly placed sources in TDP suggests that party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Nara Lokesh will unveil a comprehensive six-pillar vision that signals a shift towards ideological revival and structural reform, aimed at strengthening the party's relevance over the next four decades. Set against the theme 'Society is the Temple... People are the Gods' under the larger campaign 'My Telugu Family', the Mahanadu will serve as a platform to present a forward-looking agenda that aligns with the expectations of the present generation while drawing from the party's core values. The six-pillar framework begins with global eminence for the Telugu identity, focusing on uniting Telugu communities worldwide and amplifying their role in global affairs. Lokesh is expected to launch initiatives under 'My Telugu Family' to foster cultural and professional unity across borders. The second focus is 'Women Empowerment' through 'Stree Shakti', which aims to build on the party's legacy of securing women's rights. The initiative will push for greater participation of women in leadership and economic roles. Social reengineering for the poor forms the third pillar, with structured plans for poverty eradication and the empowerment of backward communities. Emphasis will be placed on caste-based equity and inclusive welfare. Under 'Yuvagalam', the fourth pillar, Lokesh plans to prioritize youth development through employment, entrepreneurship, and skill-building programs, targeting both rural and urban youth. The fifth pillar, 'Annadataku Anda' (Support to the Farmer), will focus on enhancing agricultural productivity, ensuring better irrigation, technology access, and market support for farmers. The sixth pillar emphasizes party cadre empowerment, affirming that grassroots workers are central to the party's strength. Lokesh is expected to propose institutional support for the cadre and greater roles in party affairs. Organisational restructuring will also be a major theme, including membership drives and strengthening of committees at all levels. This Mahanadu 2025 gains added significance following TDP's sweeping victory in the 2024 elections and its inroads in undivided Kadapa district, where it won 7 out of 10 seats for the first time.
