Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police team seized 123 kg of ganja and arrested three persons involved in its transportation from Andhra Pradesh. City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy stated that the CCB team intercepted two vehicles near Matadakere at Kantavara Cross in Beluvai village, Moodbidri, based on credible information. The police team found ganja being transported in two cars. The arrested suspects are Masood MK,45, a resident of Mogaru House, Adoor, in Kasaragod district of Kerala, Mohammed Ashiq,24, and Suber,30, both residents of Parappa in Kasaragod. Police seized two vehicles and five mobile phones from the arrested. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 46.2 lakh. Moodbidri police registered a case, and investigations are under way, said the commissioner. He added that the city police will intensify its drives to clamp down on drug peddling in the city. MANGALURU: The CEN Crime police of the Mangaluru City Police arrested a conman who allegedly cheated affluent businessmen out of crores of rupees by posing as a high-profile entrepreneur. The arrested individual is Roshan Saldana, 43, a resident of Bollagudda in Bajal in Mangaluru city. City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said that Saldana was involved in multi-crore cheating cases and was absconding and out of reach of the police for quite some time. "On Thursday, the CEN police, Mangaluru City, successfully located him at his house in a secret chamber and took him into custody. The main charges against the accused include promising loans in hundreds of crores of rupees, charging 1 to 2% stamp duty and commission, and duping the victims later. When the police raided the house, incriminating documents, cheques, a diamond ring worth Rs 2.75 crore, and expensive jewellery and liquor worth more than Rs 6.7 lakh were also found in his house and the same was seized under due process," the Commissioner said. A case under the Karnataka Excise Act was also registered against the accused for having a quantity way beyond approved limits at his house, he said. "During the investigation, it was found that over the past 3-4 months, there were transactions worth more than Rs 40 crore in the accounts of the accused. While two FIRs were registered against the accused in Mangaluru City, one more is in Chitradurga City. It is learnt that the accused cheated victims from Delhi, Mumbai, Chitradurga, Bengaluru, Vijayapura, Tumakuru, Bagalkot, Kolkata, Sangli, Goa, Lucknow, and other places across the country. A detailed investigation will reveal all the accused associated with him, the roles of each, the number of victims across the country, and the amount cheated, the officer said. Cases of fraud were registered against the accused at the Mangaluru CEN Crime Police Station under Sections 316(2), 316(5), 318(2), 318(3) along with 3(5) of the BNS, as well as Sections 316(2), 316(5), 318(2), 318(3), 61(2) along with 3(5) of the BNS. Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Police have arrested a doctor in connection with a drug peddling case, making it the ninth arrest in an ongoing investigation into a local narcotics supply network, officials said on Saturday. City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy identified the accused as Prajwal Peenyas, a native of Mangalapet in Bidar district and currently residing in Kodipalya, Kengeri, Bengaluru. He was previously a medical student at a private college in Mangaluru and had three drug-related cases registered at different police stations in the city, he said. According to police, the latest case was registered on July 2 at the City Central Crime (CEN) police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. nvestigations that began with interrogations of local drug users led police to a network of nine individuals allegedly supplying drugs in Mangaluru.

Speaking at the launch of the fourth edition of Niveus Mangalore Marathon, Mr. Reddy said it was good that continued for the fourth successive year to host a mega event like a Marathon, which keeps Mangaloreans engaged with people from across the country. Marathon not only helps participants involve in a constructive activity but also improves physical and mental fitness. Earlier Mr. Reddy launched the fourth edition of Mangalore Marathon by welcoming a troupe of traditional tiger dance members into the event hall. The members of the troupe performed tiger dance for about five minutes. Mr. Reddy then received from Gurudutta Shenoy, the managing partner of Mukund MGM Realty, the bib number for the half marathon event of fourth edition. Chief Executive Officer Niveus Solutions Suhog Shetty launched the registration for fourth edition of Mangalore Marathon. The race director of the fourth edition, Mehwish Hussain, also spoke.
