Canada Names National Development Team Roster For Summer Series
For the second straight summer, Hockey Canada will lean on youth at the August 13-16 Summer Series against USA with their national development team roster. Canada named a 23-player roster for the three-game series against USA's Collegiate Select roster including 12 members of their national development team roster from last season that won silver at the 2024 Women's Euro Hockey Tour's Six Nations tournament. 'We are excited to return to the international stage with a strong group of athletes who bring both experience and fresh energy to our development team,' said national development team head coach Alison Domenico. 'It is an honour to be back behind the bench, and our staff is eager to continue guiding our talented athletes as they take the next steps in their growth within our program.' Among the returnees to their roster are captain Jocelyn Amos, Tova Henderson, Jordan Baxter, Avi Adam, Claire Murdoch, Hailey MacLeod, Ava Murphy, Ashley Messier, Emma Pais, Madeline Palumbo, Sarah Paul, Sara Swiderski, and Emma Venusio. Adding to their national team experience are a large group of U-18 national team players including Mackenze Alexander, Eloise Caron, Hannah Clark, Piper Grober, Makayla Watson, and Alyssa Regalado, who all played in the NCAA last season. Canada also named five players who will make their NCAA debuts this season including goaltender Rhyah Stewart, and forwards Maxine Cimeroni, Sienna D'Alessandro, Sara Manness, and Stryker Zablocki. Notably absent from their 2025 roster is standout Caitlin Kraemer. The omission likely means Kraemer is either recovering from injury, or will be part of Canada's senior national team centralizations. Eve Gascon was also not named to their roster again as she'll be with the senior national team. Alex Law was the only other player not returning, but she struggled last season with Boston University. From last year's national development team that played in the Women's Euro Hockey Tour, seven players were selected in the 2025 PWHL Draft, including first-round picks Nicole Gosling, Kendall Cooper, and Jenna Buglioni, and second-round picks Anne Cherkowski and Hannah Murphy. Other PWHL picks from Canada's national development team were Sarah Wozniewicz and Maya Labad. USA Hockey Unveils National Festival Roster Providing Sneak Peek At Olympic Hopefuls USA Hockey is bringing together 76 professional and college players for their 2025 National Festival slated for August 3-9 in Lake Placid.

Premier League could come under pressure to SCRAP Summer Series amid club anger - as major reason for frustration is revealed
A number of Premier League clubs are growing increasingly frustrated by the competition's US-based Summer Series – and may even call for it to be scrapped. Mail Sport understands officials at some top-flight sides are angered at the fact that the tournament is having to be propped up by central funds and believe those who do not take part should not be handing money over to those who do. It can also also be disclosed that the inaugural version two years ago recorded a net loss of £5.4m. This year, Manchester United, Everton, West Ham United and Bournemouth have crossed the Atlantic to take part in the competition, which is aimed at growing the international market and giving the US audience the opportunity to watch English sides in the flesh. United are expected to make the most of those involved, at around £7.5m, thanks to the club's bigger market share. The Premier League uses its existing 'central' commercial partners to sponsor the competition, although some believe it is struggling to attract title sponsors. It does take hosting fees from the cities involved but the shortfall is made up from the central pot. Some now believe that such a situation is untenable, with plans to raise the matter for discussion at the next shareholders' meeting in September. 'They're expecting those not involved to prop it up to the tune of £250,000,' said one, well-placed source. 'That shouldn't be happening.' However, any attempt to end the competition is likely to be met with stiff opposition. While the Premier League declined to comment, insiders were of the view that most clubs are supportive and 'keen to take part'. While there is an acknowledgment that cash from central funds is currently needed, they believe the tournament is part of a wider package that enables growth of the Premier League on an international basis – which in turn helps them reach the £4bn a year mark in revenue. Sources also point out that 10 clubs have taken part in the first two editions and that the budget is signed off by clubs. The tournament is also viewed as an opportunity for central sponsors and an asset for US broadcast partners NBC, which screens matches, although some clubs have voiced their view that the inability to screen pre-season games on their own channels is not desirable. This year's version is the second instalment of the series, which began in 2023. Last season's competition was cancelled thanks to the Copa America, which took place in the US and was filmed by NBC and the impact of the Olympics, in Paris. This summer's event is taking place despite the fact that FIFA's expanded Club World Cup, hosted across the US, concluded earlier this month. Next year, the US will host the World Cup alongside Mexico and Canada. Organisers had hoped for another big gun to take part alongside United, but with Manchester City and Chelsea in Club World Cup action, Liverpool and Arsenal both decided to launch their own tours elsewhere. In 2023, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Brighton, Brentford and Fulham took part. This year's series kicked off with a double-header at the 82,500-capacity MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday. Some estimated as few as 10,000 were present to see Bournemouth defeat Everton 3-0, while that number had swelled to around 50,000 by the time United overcame West Ham 2-1.

Below, we'll outline the best live TV streaming services to use to watch the game as it happens, wherever you are in the world, and how to use a VPN if it's not available where you are. The Hammers slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Man United at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, with goalkeeper Alphonse Areola at fault for both goals. Despite the disappointing result, there were a number of positives to come out of the game for manager Graham Potter, with skipper Jarrod Bowen on target with a fine goal and young stars Dan Potts and Preston Fearon both impressing as second-half substitutes. Everton were meanwhile soundly beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth in their opener in New Jersey. The match starkly underlined the Toffees' need for new talent in the transfer window ahead of the new campaign. West Ham United will take on Everton on Wednesday, July 30, at Soldier Field in Chicago. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET local time, 3:30 p.m. PT in the US. That makes it an 11:30 p.m. BST start in the UK and an 8:30 a.m. AEST kickoff in Australia on Thursday morning. However, some streaming services may have policies restricting VPN use to access region-specific content. If you're considering a VPN for streaming, check the platform's terms of service to ensure compliance. If you choose to use a VPN, follow the provider's installation instructions, ensuring you're connected securely and in compliance with applicable laws and service agreements. The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week: July 28
The editors at Eater LA dine out several times a week, if not per day, which means we're always encountering standout dishes that deserve time in the limelight. Here's the very best of everything the team has eaten this week. Xiao long bao tortelloni from Kato's Summer Series with Funke in Downtown LA Xiao long bao tortelloni from Kato's summer series with Funke Rebecca Roland The latest installment of Kato's Summer Series, a dinner collaboration series bringing chefs from across LA to Row DTLA to collaborate with the restaurant, welcomed Evan Funke. On Sunday night, Funke could be spotted in the corner of the spacious tasting menu restaurant, clad in a denim shirt and apron, rolling out sheets of pasta by hand. Each dish channeled a bit of Funke and Yao, like chile crisp-topped burrata and tomatoes, and cacio e pepe tossed with zingy Taiwanese pepper. But the xiao long bao tortelloni stood out among the other dishes, with its carefully folded edges holding back rich broth. The outer was thinner than most pasta and slightly chewier than the usual xiao long bao, filled with pork and prawn. There was only one in the dish, but I would've been happy if the entire meal were just a steamer full of these. It's nice to see a fine dining restaurant let loose a little at collaborations, with hip-hop blaring over the speakers, and menus that read like a chef's fever dream. 777 S. Alameda Street, Building 1, Suite 114, Los Angeles, CA 90021. — Rebecca Roland, deputy editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest Dry pepper fried tofu from Mala Class in Highland Park Dry pepper fried tofu from Mala Class in Highland Park. Rebecca Roland There is something about hot days that makes me crave spicy food, specifically Sichuan spice. On a recent afternoon when the sun was beating down on the city, I found myself in Highland Park looking for some heat. I tucked into jewel-boxed-sized Mala Class, a neighborhood Sichuan restaurant that punches well above its weight, and price point. The tight menu comprises mapo tofu, dumplings in chile oil, dan dan noodles, and a handful of other dishes. My favorite from the lineup was the dry pepper fried tofu, with crispy pieces of tofu dotted in numbing Sichuan peppers. The spice mix was flavorful, while still packing a punch, and the tofu cubes were fried until crispy on the outside with a still-soft interior. Each bite just made me want another, chased by bits of rice and dumplings every so often. 5816 York Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90042. — Rebecca Roland, deputy editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest Smoked double-fried chicken wings from Happies Hand Made in the Arts District Smoked double-fried chicken wings from Happies Hand Made in the Arts District. Matthew Kang By now, the word on Joshua Skenes' Happies Hand Made has shown up on multiple social media accounts touting the fried chicken, like Hungry in LA's Eddie Sanchez declaring it his new favorite fried chicken in LA. While declaring anything comprised of chicken tenders (the least-interesting part of the bird) as the best fried chicken is initially suspect, Skenes does make a really delicious bird coated in a salsa macha and dried chile seasoning. Skenes quietly rolled out his double-fried cherrywood smoke chicken wings last week, served over a golden-brown waffle that he once topped with caviar at his temporarily closed Leopardo on La Brea Avenue. The wings are juicy and sweet with smoke flavor, cracker-like on the outside, and incredibly satisfying to eat. Skenes himself is often mixing drinks or prepping orders up front, with the line of customers not realizing the former chef of a three-Michelin-star restaurant (Saison) is making some of the best comfort food in Los Angeles right now. Or maybe they do realize that Skenes has poured so much energy into simple, reasonably priced food, and that's why they're willing to wait. 427 S. Hewitt Street, Los Angeles, CA, 90013. — Matthew Kang, lead editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest Baja tuna tower at the Koast and Crossroads collaborative dinner in Hollywood Koast. Wonho Frank Lee It's always a delight when a dinner collaboration goes right; I always appreciate the effort brought about by chefs and operators preparing a meal together, but the meal is not always a great fit. But when Crossroads chef Tal Ronnen joined Koast chefs Kevin Meehan and Michael Kerner on July 24, everything hit. Ronnen created dishes that reinvented some of Koast's most memorable bites through a vegan lens, like a dreamy watermelon crudo, spectacular lobster mushroom cake, and citrusy rambutan ceviche. My crew nabbed a few Koast dishes a la carte, and all agreed that the Baja tuna tower filled with Baja bluefin tuna, avocado, and tons of tobiko fish eggs is worth returning for. It's as creamy as one would hope and bursting with roe. In short, it's a gorgeous bite of the ocean from the two Koast chefs served in a stunning and intimate room with an entry that's dramatic and fitting for the concept. I've been admiring Ronnen's menu at Crossroads for years, and now it's clearly time for me to make regular stops at Koast to try the rest of the menu. 6623 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA, 90038 — Mona Holmes, editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest Eater LA All your essential food and restaurant intel delivered to you Email (required) Sign Up By submitting your email, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Notice .
