Scaly surprise: Sabah Fire Dept catches crocodile lurking in front of Lahad Datu home
LAHAD DATU, May 17 — Fire and rescue personnel captured a crocodile in front of a house at Taman Seri Perdana here yesterday. Lahad Datu fire and rescue station chief Sumsoa Rashid said a team was dispatched to the location after receiving a call at 10pm. The 1.5-meter-long crocodile was spotted outside the gate of a house and fire and rescue personnel used special tools to catch it. The crocodile was handed over to the Wildlife Department for further action, said Sumsoa. — The Borneo Post

4 friends go missing after entering forest to collect produce
The search and rescue team being briefed before entering the forest to look for the four men. (JBPM pic) LAHAD DATU : Four men are feared missing after they entered a forest in Tamaco, Tungku, near here last Thursday to collect forest produce. According to initial information, Fendery Ani, 37, had gone to the forest with three friends at about 4pm but have not been heard of as of this afternoon. Lahad Datu fire and rescue station chief Sumsoa Rashid said a search and rescue team had been deployed to locate the men, but 'all attempts to reach them have failed'. He said they were still working to establish the identities of the other men.

Car in ditch: Driver hurt

LAHAD DATU: A Proton Persona driver sustained injuries after the vehicle skidded into a 5m deep ditch at Jalan Suno Marso, here, last Sunday. District Fire and Rescue Station chief, Sumsoa Rashid, said his department received a distress call following the incident at 11.35pm. He said a team of Fire and Rescue personnel was deployed to the scene and arrived six minutes later. 'Upon arrival, the team reported that the incident involved a Proton Persona that skidded and crashed into the five-meter depth ditch. 'The victim had been taken out of the vehicle with the assistance of the public and the team carried the victim out of the ditch using a stretcher,' he said. According to Sumsoa, the victim was handed over to the medical officers from the Health Ministry (KKM). He said the operation ended at 12.07am after the team made sure there was no other danger at the scene.
