NFL Legend Charles Woodson Makes Career Decision on Thursday
There's no doubt Charles Woodson left an incredible mark on the NFL. Now, it looks like he's making just as big of an impact off the field. Already known for his passion for wine, Woodson has his own label, TwentyFour by Charles Woodson. Based in Napa, California, the winery continues to grow in popularity. But now, Woodson is stepping into an even busier role — this time back in the NFL but in a new capacity. Advertisement Dianna Russini, an NFL insider for The Athletic and host of the "Scoop City" podcast, shared the news about the Pro Football Hall of Famer's next venture: "Hall of Famer Charles Woodson is set to purchase a 0.1% stake in the Browns from the Haslam family." Russini added: "The sale is contingent upon Woodson agreeing to similar broadcasting restrictions to Raiders owner Tom Brady and removing his name, image and likeness from businesses he is involved in." Woodson has already made a name for himself in the media world. He was part of ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" from 2016 to 2018, then transitioned to Fox Sports as a college football analyst. Advertisement A native of Fremont, Ohio, Woodson starred at Fremont Ross High School as a member of the Little Giants. Though he now lives in the Orlando, Florida, area with his family, he frequently refers to Ohio as home. Former Raiders defensive back Charles Han / USA TODAY NETWORK During his college days, Woodson became a legend at the University of Michigan. In 1997, he won the Heisman Trophy and helped lead the Wolverines to a national championship. That same season, he also picked up the Walter Camp, Chuck Bednarik and Bronko Nagurski awards and earned first-team All-American honors. He was selected fourth overall in the 1998 NFL draft and went on to set the record for most consecutive seasons with an interception returned for a touchdown (six). Woodson finished his career with 65 interceptions, 13 defensive touchdowns and 20 sacks. Advertisement His NFL journey spanned from 1998 to 2015, playing for both the then-Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers. He began his career with the Raiders from 1998 to 2005, then joined the Packers, before returning to the Raiders from 2013 to 2015. Woodson was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1998 and NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2009. He was selected to nine Pro Bowls and capped off his illustrious career with a Super Bowl XLV victory. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021. NFL insider slammed for poorly-worded tweet that made fans think legendary anchor had DIED
Chris Berman has been one of the longest tenured employees at ESPN and is a familiar face to American sports fans across the country. So when news came that the Connecticut native had extended his contract at the Worldwide Leader in Sports, it was sure to be a joyful occasion. That is, it was going to be, if fans hadn't briefly feared the worst thanks to the wording of a tweet from one of Berman's colleagues. ESPN's NFL insider, Adam Schefter, posted a tweet announcing Berman's new deal - but framed it in a way that many users believed that he was announcing the 70-year-old's death. 'Legendary ESPN anchor Chris Berman, who joined the network just after its September 7, 1979, launch, has extended his contract,' Schefter posted. In the parlance of social media, that turn of phrase is typically the way that someone would begin to write a death announcement. A number of fans took issue with Schefter's wording and roasted him online for it. 'Heart skipped a beat after the first line,' wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter. Another scolded Schefter: 'don't ever start a tweet like that again.' 'when it comes to old people yall gotta start tweets like this with "GOOD NEWS!",' another user suggested. The account for the Sleeper fantasy sports app posted, 'Are you trying to give us heart problems Adam.' Berman has been a staple of the network for decades, most notably as a host for 'Sunday NFL Countdown', 'Monday Night Countdown', and 'NFL Primetime'. Outside the NFL, Berman has held roles for coverage of the Home Run Derby, the Stanley Cup Finals, and golf tournaments like the US Open and the Travelers Championship. If Berman stays in this role until 2029, he'll be the first employee at the cable television company to have stayed there for 50 years.

Robert Griffin III joining Fox Sports as college football analyst after ESPN firing
Robert Griffin III has landed a prominent new job more than eight months after he was fired by ESPN. The former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback is expected to join Fox Sports to be it's No. 2 college football game analyst, The Athletic's Andrew Marchand reported Thursday morning. The 35-year-old is replacing Brock Huard, who announced earlier this month he was leaving Fox to become the tight ends coach on his son's high school football team. 3 Robert Griffin III, seen here in a Jayden Daniels jersey at a Commanders game in November, is expected to join Fox Sports as a college football game analyst. Getty Images Griffin, who had two years left on his ESPN deal, hasn't yet signed a contract with Fox, the report said, adding he's expected to be paired with play-by-play voice Jason Benetti. Griffin called college football games and was an NFL studio analyst for ESPN, though he lost his spot on 'Monday Night Countdown' when the network hired Jason Kelce. 3 Robert Griffin III (l.) and wife Grete (r.) in February 2025. Ponder was the host of 'Sunday NFL Countdown,' a role that was filled by Mike Greenberg for the 2024 season. 'If you don't own anything, then you're always going to be a slave to something else. I just want to make sure that we own what we're doing, we have a good time doing it, and as far as legacy media goes, I've got no bad blood with legacy media,' Griffin told Jim Rome weeks after he got fired. 'But there could be teams at Fox, NBC, CBS, Amazon, Netflix or anywhere else that I would enjoy working with as well. I'm not gonna close the door on anything.' 3 Robert Griffin III dressed as Harry Potter during a Wake Forest-Florida State game in October 2023. He was a studio analyst for Netflix's Christmas Day doubleheader in 2024.

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick welcome Randy Moss back to work
Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and legendary quarterback Tom Brady welcomed Randy Moss back to ESPN's 'Sunday NFL Countdown.' Moss, who is recovering from cancer treatment, stepped away from the job in December. He returned ahead of the biggest game of the year with the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Brady, Belichick and others were part of a video package that was put together for Moss. 'Hey, Randy. Want you to know we're behind you as you continue your fight. Welcome back to TV and 'Countdown,'' said Belichick. Brady then added, 'Welcome back, Randy. I'm sure all the guys on set have missed you, but we've all missed you, as well. You've been a fixture on that show for a long time. You were a fixture on the field. 'For as great as you were on the field at showing everybody the strength and resilience of how you performed over the course of your Hall of Fame career, you've impressed and inspired us more than anything with what you've done off the field. …You're a brother to me. I love you more than anything in this world, and it's so great to have you back.' 'It is so great to have you back.' – Tom Brady Bill Belichick, Kevin Garnett and Justin Jefferson, among others, join Brady in welcoming back Randy Moss — ESPN PR (@ESPNPR) February 9, 2025 Moss, Brady and Belichick were a lethal trio to opposing NFL defenses when the Patriots went unbeaten in the 2007 regular season. The success from that season has stood the test of time and created a lifelong bond between teammates. Moss is one of the all-time great receivers, but he has taken that success with him to television as one of the most beloved NFL commentators. His return to the 'NFL Countdown' desk is good news for everybody.
