Woman Finds 2 'Nervous' Street Dogs—Adopts One but Knows Someone Is Missing

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A Swiftie who attended the Eras Tour knew it would be a memorable night, but she never could have imagined just how it would change her life, and the lives of two street dogs she met along the way. Brooke Morosca, of Orlando, Florida, traveled to New Orleans in October 2024 to attend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. But the surprises started before she even got to the concert, friendship bracelets in tow, as she spotted a dog lying in the street. Morosca, 24, got out of the car to get a better look, telling Newsweek that the yellow Labrador had no collar and was covered in fleas. There weren't any signs of a home nearby, so she wasn't sure where the canine came from. "The dog came walking up to me with her tail wagging," Morosca said. "As she did that, a small black dog came running out of the bushes. He was also covered in fleas and looked extremely malnourished." As she walked toward the Airbnb to figure out a plan, she was stunned to see them follow her. The animals didn't want to leave her side, and she felt an instant connection. Morosca and her friends stayed at the Airbnb for four nights, and their two guests were with them throughout. "We gave them food and water, and I called my sister to pick up more supplies on their way. One of her friends worked at a shelter so she bought stuff and was even able to clip their nails," Morosca continued. As wonderful as their company was during the trip, Morosca knew she was heading home and needed a long-term solution. She couldn't just leave and let them return to the streets. Morosca bonded with both dogs, and she could sense that they "just wanted love." She felt connected with the black dog, fitting since that is a Taylor Swift song title, and before she left New Orleans, she knew he was meant to be her pet. "I was able to get the black dog to warm up to me and trust me to pet him, which was so rewarding," she said. Morosca contacted a local shelter to hold both dogs. It broke her heart to say goodbye, and she would have given anything to take them both. She made a promise to come back for them when she was permitted—a promise she intended to keep. Both dogs had to undergo a three-day owner reclaim period. Shelter staff told Morosca that they recognized the duo, and they had been trying to take the owner to court for custody. If the owner didn't turn up in those three days, then the dogs would be available for adoption. Morosca called every day for updates, but, on the third day, their owner appeared. This elongated the process somewhat, and Morosca felt immense guilt that the dogs were in the shelter for a lot longer than intended. Nonetheless, she refused to lose hope. Four months later, she was told that the black dog, now called Rhysand, was available for adoption. However, the yellow Labrador had been returned to the owner. "What followed was a ton of mixed emotions," Morosca said. "Joy and gratitude that I was able to rescue him and give him a better life, but also sadness that she was in the exact same situation I tried to help her out of. And she was now doing it alone. I never stopped thinking about her and held on to hope that, somehow, I could help her." From left: Brooke Morosca hugs Rhysand the rescue dog. From left: Brooke Morosca hugs Rhysand the rescue dog. @brookemorosca / TikTok As happy as Rhysand seemed in his forever home, it was clear that he was missing something—or someone. Several weeks later, Morosca felt an urge to check the shelter's website on a whim. By some miracle, the yellow Labrador was the top listing, and she knew exactly what to do next. Morosca drove back to Louisiana to rescue her, and she was brought to tears when she finally reunited the dogs. The yellow Labrador, named Crumpet, is staying with a friend as she has heartworm so needs to recover. Morosca isn't certain if she will be able to keep Crumpet forever, as it is a big financial commitment to keep two dogs. However, if she does have to rehome her, it will be to one of her close friends, and the dogs will enjoy regular playdates. "I can't express how happy I am knowing that they are both healthy and they're finally going to have the lives they deserve," Morosca said. She shared the incredible rescue story on TikTok (@brookemorosca) and the post went viral, with over 7.9 million views and more than 1.4 million likes at the time of writing. The online response is beyond anything she anticipated, and Morosca hopes their story will inspire others to help an animal in need, too. With almost 3,500 comments on the viral TikTok post, social-media users hailed Morosca for allowing Rhysand and Crumpet to start their new eras. One comment reads: "A true 'you belong with me' moment." Another TikTok user wrote: "Omg you're the best for this. They are literally Sunshine and Midnight Rain." A third person replied: "Eras Tour literally saving lives." Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? We want to see the best ones! 'She is very talented': Melania Trump defied Donald Trump with Taylor Swift praise while Travis Kelce stood loyal by her side

Melania Trump surprisingly praised Taylor Swift's talent during a children's hospital visit (Getty Images) In a surprising moment from summer 2025, Melania Trump broke ranks with her husband's longtime criticism of Taylor Swift , offering rare praise for the pop icon. Her unexpected compliment came just as Swift enjoyed a quiet Ohio lunch date with Travis Kelce, creating a memorable intersection of politics, pop culture, and heartfelt romance away from headlines. Melania Trump once praised Taylor Swift despite Donald Trump's public jabs In the summer of 2025, just days before America's Independence Day celebrations, a moment of unexpected admiration made headlines — and it didn't come from a Swiftie. During a visit to a Washington, D.C. children's hospital, Melania Trump, often viewed as carefully distant from her husband's politics, offered a rare public compliment to pop superstar Taylor Swift, saying 'She is very talented.' The comment, shared during a cheerful arts-and-crafts session with young patients, came at a particularly ironic time. President Donald Trump had just taken a jab at Swift on Truth Social, claiming she was 'no longer hot.' The contrast between the former First Lady's warm praise and her husband's latest attempt to diminish the singer's influence was impossible to ignore — and sparked a flood of online reaction. For a cultural figure like Swift, who has sparred with Trump over voting rights and women's issues since 2018, Melania's words felt like a small but symbolic gesture. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo At the same time, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce shared a low-key moment in Ohio While political commentary swirled, Taylor Swift stayed unbothered — finding joy far from the noise with her partner, NFL star Travis Kelce. Just as Melania's words were making waves, Swift and Kelce were spotted enjoying a quiet lunch date at Jojo's Bar near Kelce's hometown in Ohio. Bar owner John Ponicky later described their visit as 'wonderful,' noting the couple's down-to-earth charm and kindness. It was the kind of moment that defined the Swift-Kelce romance during that era — intimate, genuine, and removed from the Hollywood flashbulbs. Their relationship, built on shared admiration and mutual respect, often unfolded in places that felt more heartland than headline. Whether supporting each other's careers or sneaking in peaceful afternoons in Ohio, they captured fans' attention with simplicity and sincerity. A surprising ally in an ongoing political-cultural tug-of-war As 2025 rolled on, Melania's comment stood out for its timing and tone. Taylor Swift remained one of the most influential cultural voices of the generation — politically outspoken, fiercely independent, and firmly in control of her image. That someone from the Trump circle, especially Melania, would break ranks to acknowledge Swift's talent was a quiet but notable departure. In retrospect, this throwback moment reminded us that even in the most polarized public spheres, admiration can surface in the most unexpected places — often without fanfare, just a soft-spoken truth shared with a child. Call them the 'Era-Bnbs': Three Taylor Swift-inspired Airbnb rentals

A few years before Taylor Swift lit up Nissan Stadium with her Eras Tour, Michelle Basiorka was already dreaming of creating a Swiftie sanctuary in the heart of Nashville. "I was working full-time as a physical therapy assistant," Basiorka recalls. "But then I tore my shoulder and had to take a step back. That's when I decided to get my real estate license and started sketching out ideas for what I thought could be the ultimate fan space." In the spring of 2021, she found a property a stone's throw from the Gulch neighborhood. Over the next two years, she poured her energy into transforming the two-story townhome, carefully curating every detail to be Taylor-made. There is an @airbnb in Nashville completely decked out in eleven eras of @Taylor Swift. This is the @The Swiftie Shangri-La. #taylorswift #taylornation #erastour #swiftok #taylorsversion "Every item in the Airbnb is purposeful," Basiorka said. "The cups and mugs are featured in the 'Anti-Hero' music video. There's a gallery wall with pieces that are symbolic of some sort of lyric. There is a sparkly guitar table that's one-of-a-kind. My fiancé works in glass fabrication so he made the top and then the base is mirror balls. My sister and I literally made them by hand with mirror tiles, and each took 10 hours to make." The property is only one of a few examples of Airbnbs catering to Swifties, filling every nook with Easter eggs nodding to the singer's songs, concerts and eras. Basiorka painted her space a vibrant bubble gum pink. The main living room wall bursts with mementos, art and photos tied to the singer's vast discography. One piece instantly commands attention: a striking "White Horse" statue. Basiorka found the sculpture at a high-end thrift shop in Chicago, where it hung for decades as part of the store's decor. She paid $500 for the piece, but the sales worker couldn't get the art down and told her to come back the next day. "We call him 'Horse-lian' like porcelain," she said. "The artist who made it passed away a few years before, so this was one of the last remaining ones. When we showed up the next day, the actual owner told me he was going to honor the deal, but it wasn't supposed to be for sale." The garish patio is decorated with neon colors like it was pulled from Swift's "You Need To Calm Down" music video. One of the bathroom shower doors has art of the singer's cat, Meredith Grey, with her paw up next to the lyrics, "I think I'm finally clean." Fans can rent out the Swiftie Shangri-La here. The stars shined brighter in Dallas In a northeast suburb of Dallas, a brand-new "Erabnb" is open to fans. "I feel like the Eras Tour is almost a movement for Swifties," said host Summer Rogers. "I've always wanted to create not just an Airbnb, but an experience where Swifties can relive some of the magic from the tour." For the past six months, she converted three rooms inspired by her favorite Eras: "Lover," "Folklore" and "Midnights." The listing went live on July 13, a nod to Swift's favorite number. "I wanted to make an immersive experience," she said. "Each one has a vinyl record of that era. The 'Lover' room has all these pinks and blues, flowers and butterflies. The 'Midnights' room is midnight blue from floor to ceiling. The 'Folklore' room feels like a disco forest and really encapsulates the rustic feel of the album with elements of mirror balls." Fun neon signs of lyrics adorn the walls like "I act like it's my birthday everyday" and "to live for the hope of it all." Near the entryway is a guest book with an interactive Eras Tour movie poster, complete with magnetic cutouts for fans to pose with each version of Swift. "I hope fans, and Taylor, would see this as a legacy of the Eras Tour," Rogers says. "Swifties should favorite this listing to make sure they can find it later on." To book the Texan property, click here. Welcome to Era-zona Tucked near the Biltmore in Phoenix, the "Lavender Hayze Place" is a dreamy desert escape designed entirely with Swifties in mind. A post shared by Scottsdale Bachelorette Photographer (@scottsdalebridetribe) Guests can choose from bedrooms themed after iconic eras — "1989," "Reputation," "Folklore" and "Evermore" — each styled with era-specific details and décor. The two bathrooms pay tribute to "Fearless" and "Midnights," while the living room is bathed in "Lover" tones. A cheeky "breakup wall" features photos of the pop star's famous exes. There's even a glam station for getting ready, complete with a neon sign that declares, "And by the way, I'm going out tonight." Outside, the backyard glitters with disco balls. 'LIX my b*lls': Did C.J. Gardner-Johnson go too far? Taylor Swift feud reignites over NSFW shirt and Kayla Nicole jab

C.J. Gardner-Johnson is stirring the pot again with Taylor Swift's fanbase (Getty Images) C.J. Gardner-Johnson isn't backing down from his headline-grabbing feud with Taylor Swift and her devoted fanbase. From mocking Travis Kelce's ex to wearing a vulgar anti-Swiftie shirt at the Super Bowl parade, the NFL star reignited the drama on The Pivot Podcast—and fans are once again debating whether he went too far for attention. From Super Bowl shade to Swiftie backlash: C.J. Gardner-Johnson reignites pop culture war Months after the Super Bowl parade confetti settled, NFL safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson is back in headlines—and once again, it involves Taylor Swift and her fiercely loyal fanbase. During a recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast, the former Eagles and current Super Bowl champion revisited the viral controversy that pitted him against the pop icon's followers, the Swifties. — MySportsUpdate (@MySportsUpdate) What started as a locker room joke turned into a full-blown cultural clash between the NFL world and Swift's global fan empire. At the center of the storm? An NSFW shirt, a post aimed at Travis Kelce's ex Kayla Nicole, and a wave of backlash that spilled far beyond social media. From trash talk to Target run-ins: the feud that won't fade The controversy began when Gardner-Johnson took to Instagram after Super Bowl LIX, seemingly mocking Kelce for dating Swift by suggesting he'd have won a ring had he stayed with Kayla Nicole. Just days later, he amped up the feud by wearing a sweatshirt at the Eagles' parade that read, 'Swifties can LIX my b----.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Many Are Watching Tariffs - Few Are Watching What Nvidia Just Launched Seeking Alpha Read More Undo According to the safety, the shirt wasn't his idea. 'It was left in my locker by one of Big Dom DiSandro's friends,' he explained, describing it as a locker room joke that unfortunately made its way to national headlines. The fallout was swift—literally. Taylor Swift's fans didn't just unfollow or unfavor him; they review-bombed his mother's Florida restaurant on Yelp, unleashing waves of one-star ratings and snide remarks. C.J. Gardner-Johnson sets record straight on his behavior after Eagles trade to Houston | The Pivot Surprisingly warm encounters with Swifties off the field Despite the chaos, Gardner-Johnson said some fans of Swift later approached him with a mix of criticism and kindness. 'We don't like what you did, but I'm a fan of you,' he recalled one Swiftie saying during a surprisingly pleasant chat in a Target aisle. Even amid controversy, moments of unexpected civility surfaced—hinting that not all fandom feuds are beyond repair. Still, the incident reignites conversations about boundaries between pop culture and sports trash talk. Taylor Swift herself has never commented publicly on the feud, though she did receive boos from some NFL fans during her Jumbotron appearance at Caesars Superdome on February 9. Also Read: 'NFL Season (Taylor's Version)': Taylor Swift's lucky number 13 has fans convinced Travis Kelce is destined for NFL glory in 2025 As for C.J., he seems ready to own the narrative—without backing down. While tensions may have eased, his podcast remarks prove that the line between jest and disrespect remains razor-thin when Swifties are involved. Taylor Swift's Sweet Gesture for 'TSITP' Star Lola Tung Made Her "Nearly Pass Out"

The Gist The Summer I Turned Pretty star Lola Tung shared Taylor Swift once gave her a sweet gesture that made her "nearly pass out." Tung appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, where she and the host gushed about the pop superstar. Tung attended the Eras Tour in June 2023 with TSITP creator Jenny say you should never meet your idols, but The Summer I Turned Pretty star Lola Tung is sure glad she met hers. Tung, like much of the world, is a certified Swiftie, and back in 2023 she had an interaction with Taylor Swift that made her swoon. The 22-year-old appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, alongside her TSITP costars Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno, where she and Fallon had a full-on kiki about their love for the pop superstar. "Do you have a favorite song from the show? Favorite Taylor song?," the host asked, to which Tung responded, "I mean, there's so many." "She's so talented," Fallon added, to which the actress exclaimed, "She is!" "Mine changes week to week," Fallon offered. "I know!" Tung replied giddily. "What's your current?" the host rephrased the question. "Ok, ah. I mean, I feel like, 'The Way I Loved You' is a great one. 'Delicate' is great, as well," Tung shared. "'Delicate' is my jam," Fallon agreed. "Right now, that's my jam. I'm into that and I'm into 'The Last Great American Dynasty.' I love that one. That one, I just jam out." "'You Belong With Me,' classic. Come on," Tung continued. When asked if she has met Swift, Tung revealed, "I've never met her officially, but I went to the Eras Tour concert with Jenny Han, who's the creator of our show, and we were right by the stage when she played 'False God,' which was also in the show," she said, pausing to laugh as the crowd cheered loudly and adding "Everyone's very excited about Taylor." She continued, saying, "We were right by the stage and she looked at us, and she kind of waved and was like, 'I love you guys' and gave us a little heart. And I nearly passed out, so it was great." Tung and Han attended Swift's record-breaking tour back in June 2023. The author captured several moments from the night, including both of them nearly crying while watching the music mogul perform. Other flicks showed them screaming along to "Enchanted," as well as many close up videos of Swift. Read the original article on InStyle Solve the daily Crossword
