India receives Airbus C-295 military transport aircraft from Spain
India on Saturday received the last of its 16 Airbus C-295 military transport aircraft from Spain, marking an important milestone in strengthening its defence capabilities, the Indian Embassy in Spain said. The C-295, a transport aircraft of 5-10 tonne capacity with contemporary technology, is set to replace the ageing Avro aircraft of the IAF. Indian Ambassador to Spain Dinesh K Patnaik, along with senior Indian Air Force officials, received the last of the 16 Airbus C-295 military transport aircraft at the Airbus Defence and Space assembly line in Seville, the Indian mission posted on social media. 'The delivery, two months ahead of schedule, marks an important milestone in strengthening India's defence capabilities,' it added. The aircraft, with a flight endurance of up to 11 hours, is a versatile and efficient tactical transport aircraft. India signed a contract with Airbus Defence & Space, Spain, for acquisition of 56 C-295MW transport aircraft for IAF in Sep 2021. Under the C-295 programme, a total of 56 aircraft are to be delivered, of which 16 were to be delivered directly by Airbus from Spain, and the remaining 40 will be manufactured in India. Spain fulfilled that commitment on Saturday by handing over the last of the 16 aircraft. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sanchez, had jointly inaugurated the TATA Aircraft Complex for manufacturing C-295 aircraft at TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) Campus in Vadodara, Gujarat, in October last year. TASL is responsible for making these 40 aircraft in India. This facility becomes the first private sector Final Assembly Line (FAL) for military aircraft in India. It will involve the full development of a complete ecosystem from the manufacture to assembly, test and qualification, to delivery and maintenance of the complete lifecycle of the aircraft. Apart from Tatas, leading defence public sector units such as Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Bharat Dynamics Ltd, as well as private Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises will contribute to this programme.

62 percent of GIM manufacturing investment commitments converted to project applications: MB Patil
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 6 (ANI): Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries, MB Patil, stated on Saturday that Rs 3.4 lakh crore worth of formal project applications have been filed out of the 5.56 lakh crore investment commitments made for the manufacturing sector during the Global Investors Meet (GIM) - Invest Karnataka 2025. This amounts to a 62% conversion rate. Speaking at an exclusive session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in the presence of Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, MB Patil attributed this impressive conversion as a result of sustained post-MoU engagement with investors, ensuring that intent translates into tangible action. 'Companies such as Krones, Safran, TASL, and many others have already filed formal applications with the state, with several having already commenced groundwork. Additionally, with both IndiGo and Air India now operating MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) facilities in Karnataka, alongside TASL's upcoming MRO unit and HAL's existing operations, Karnataka has truly earned its place as the 'MRO Capital of Asia',' Patil noted. Patil further stated that out of the total Rs 10.27 lakh crore worth of investment commitments received during the GIM, proposals valued at Rs 4.34 lakh crore or about 42 per cent, have already materialised into project applications. He positioned Karnataka as a reliable partner in the evolving global economic landscape. He said, 'As the world adopts the China+1 strategy and responds to uncertainties caused by global conflicts, Karnataka has emerged as a dependable and natural partner. We are building not just industrial parks, but self-contained ecosystems that are future-ready and innovation-driven.' The new State Industrial Policy, launched during the GIM, has been widely appreciated for its progressive and inclusive framework. The policy places a strong emphasis on sustainability by integrating decarbonisation goals, green regulatory frameworks, and dedicated promotion of green industrial practices. It also offers targeted additional incentives for Zone 1 and Zone 2 districts, supporting balanced regional development. (ANI)

Bengaluru: Industries minister MB Patil said Saturday that 62% of investment commitments made to the manufacturing sector during the Global Investors Meet (GIM) held earlier this year have been converted into formal project proposals. "In total, Karnataka received investment commitments worth Rs 10.2 lakh crore at GIM 2025, of which Rs 4.3 lakh crore — about 42% — have already been converted into proposals. Of the Rs 5.5 lakh crore committed to manufacturing, proposals worth Rs 3.4 lakh crore have been submitted," Patil said at a session with union commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). "This strong conversion rate reflects sustained post-MoU engagement with investors, ensuring that investment intent translates into tangible action," he added. Women Safety Wing teams up with Tata Advanced Systems to boost community policing
The Women Safety Wing of the Telangana police has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL). The agreement, aimed at bolstering community-based policing efforts, was formalised under the banner 'Driving Policing Efficiency for Community Impact'. The agreement was signed in Hyderabad by Charu Sinha, head of the Bharosa Society for Protection of Women and Children, and Masood Hussainy, executive director of TASL. The collaboration seeks to strengthen vital safety units such as She Teams, Bharosa Centres, and Anti-Human Trafficking Units through technology interventions, capacity building and operational innovation. The initiative is designed to deepen community engagement, improve coordination among field personnel and ensure more effective, victim-centered support services by equipping field personnel and institutional mechanisms with modern tools and training. TASL has extended its backing through its corporate social responsibility framework. The partnership also encourages employee engagement through volunteering opportunities with Bharosa-supported initiatives. Officials expect the partnership to reinforce institutional capacity within the women safety wing and help position Telangana at the forefront of integrated community policing models focused on women and child protection.
