Cameron Young is finally a PGA Tour winner. Here are 5 things you should know about him

Cameron Young will be competing in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first leg of the PGA Tour's FedEx Playoffs, starting Thursday. Here are five things to know about the winner of the Wyndham Championship: Cameron Young's first PGA Tour win was wire-to-wire Young, 28, entered the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., with more second-place finishes (seven) than any player on the PGA Tour without a victory since 2003. That ended August 3 with a wire-to-wire win . Young closed with a 22-under 258, six shots ahead of Mac Meissner. Young became the 1,000th player to win on the PGA TOUR, dating back to Willie Park Jr. in the 1860 Open Championship. Steady but not spectacular during five years on Tour Young, the 2022 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, has been consistently in the top 50 of the world rankings since landing at No. 44 in March 2022, with the exception of three months this season when he missed six cuts in the first 11 events. He has at least five top 10s in the last four years. Young jumped from No. 44 to No. 21 in the world with his win at Wyndham. His highest ranking was 13th in March 2024. More: Winner's Bag: Cameron Young, 2025 Wyndham Championship Young learned to play where father was club pro Born in Scarborough, N.Y., Young learned to play golf at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, where his father, David, was the club's professional for 20 years. Young won the AJGA Polo Golf Junior Classic in 2014 and a year later represented the United States in both the Junior Ryder Cup and Junior Golf World Cup. He attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., about 30 miles from the site of his first PGA win, graduating in 2019 with a degree in economics. Young could make a case for 2025 Ryder Cup team At No. 15 in the Ryder Cup standings, Young is in position where captain Keegan Bradley has to at least think about making him one of his six captain's picks to go along with the top six in the standings. For Young, the Ryder Cup would be a home game, being played at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y., about 60 miles south of where he was born. Young held the course record at Bethpage Black — a 64 in the final round of the 2017 Metropolitan PGA's New York State Open when he became the event's youngest winner — until Brooks Koepka shot a 63 in the first round of the 2019 PGA Championship. Moved to Florida after graduating from Wake Forest Young moved to Jupiter following his graduation from Wake Forest and joined the Dye Preserve Golf Club. "The culture down there evolves around golf a lot and my life, at least professionally, evolves around golf," Young said. "That's the environment I put myself in." Living in the area made him a great fit to join TGL, the tech-infused, indoor league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. And his roots made him an obvious choice to join the New York Golf Club, joining Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick and Xander Schauffele. New York reached the first TGL final, losing to the Atlanta Drive, in March. Tom D'Angelo is a senior sports columnist and reporter for The Palm Beach Post. He can be reached at tdangelo@

Tiger Woods News Emerges Before US Open

Tiger Woods News Emerges Before US Open originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The golf world is focused on Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania this week as the third major championship of the 2025 season gets underway Thursday. The U.S. Open has arrived, and some of the sport's biggest names are preparing to tackle the daunting challenge of the historic golf course. Advertisement One name not in the field but still making headlines is Tiger Woods. The 49-year-old legend, a three-time U.S. Open champion, continues to battle injuries. Though he hasn't teed it up in an official event on Tour since The Open Championship last July, Woods remains a towering figure in golf. That was made even more evident this week. Just one day before the U.S. Open begins, Forbes shared its list of the highest-paid golfers of 2025, and Woods ranked fourth, despite his only competition being two events in the TMRW Golf League (TGL) that he formed with fellow golfer Rory McIlroy. According to Forbes, despite parting ways with Nike after 27 years in 2024, Woods has still earned $55 million, with $10 million on the course and $45 million in revenue off the course. Advertisement Even without frequent appearances on the course, Tiger's impact on the sport remains undeniable. Tiger Woods is fourth on the 2025 Forbes list of highest-earning golfers with $55 Gruber / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Along with Tiger, several other stars also made the list: Jon Rahm ranks No. 1 on the list. The 30-year-old Spaniard earned $92 million on the course and $10 million off it. He's been a force in LIV Golf, currently sitting third in the individual standings with three top-five finishes in eight starts. Scottie Scheffler, the second highest-paid golfer, brought in $97 million total, $67 million on the course (including a $25 million FedEx Cup bonus) and $30 million off it. Despite those massive earnings, Scheffler still trails Rahm. McIlroy rounds out the top three. The 36-year-old finally captured his first green jacket at the Masters in April, completing the career grand slam. He made $84 million overall, evenly split between his on-course performance and endorsements. Collin Morikawa is fifth on the list at $50 million. The 28-year-old American, despite not winning on the PGA Tour since 2023, remains one of the sport's top draws. His best U.S. Open finish was fourth in 2021. As the 2025 U.S. Open begins, many eyes remain on the current stars battling at Oakmont. But the name Tiger Woods continues to carry serious weight in the world of golf. The stunning Genesis Scottish Open golf plans to take fans inside the tournament

Kids and adults are set to have special experience at The Renaissance Genesis Scottish Open chiefs believe the Sixth Hole Stadium experience will take fans inside the tournament and inspire a new generation of golf fans and stars. The par-three has rapidly become renowned as one of the must-go-to spots for fans at Renaissance and further improvements to last year's set-up promise magical moments. ‌ As well as being fully enclosed with grandstands, screens and platforms, there will be a new children's area designed to take kids closer to their heroes alongside an expanded Ticket+ offering and a Genesis public lounge, featuring a TGL simulator. ‌ During the Wednesday pro-am, young fans will once again have the chance to walk the hole with some of the stars of the event and even get the chance to hole a putt. From Thursday's first round onwards, the highlight hole-in-one competition offers the chance for players and fans to win. The first golf star who aces the sixth will win a Genesis GV60, while the first fan to correctly predict the individual will win a VIP experience and tickets to the Genesis Championship in Korea, including business class return flights and accommodation. Genesis Brand Advisor Graeme Russell explained the key elements to the ideas as he said: 'Golf fans in Scotland and the UK are always very knowledgeable, very learned on the game, very respectful of the interaction with the players. So, we're really trying to create that family atmosphere and really welcome the next generation of golf fans. . 'Someone who might be new to the game, or coming to a tournament for the first time, or follow their favourite player on social media, how can they engage and interact and feel part of the experience and atmosphere at the sixth hole. That's what we're really trying to do with the stadium seating which has improved this year, together with the new hospitality experiences. 'We'll have the Genesis public lounge and then the Kids' Viewing Zone and we're hopeful that, certainly on the pro-am days, the players will interact with the younger fans and create a real energy, a real buzz, a real sense of excitement on the tee and, hopefully, that the players will also respond well to that. ‌ 'I think you've got the location. It's in the middle of the front nine, it's close to the 18th, it's near the clubhouse, it's a natural gathering point, it's very easy to access for fans and there's a lot of other facilities and experiences around. The amphitheatre type effect starts at the tee and goes down both sides to the end of the hole, and we want fans of all ages with an interest in golf to be able to interact. 'I think introducing the next generation of golf fans is really important for the sport and having them able to witness their favourite golfers on a par-three where they can, ultimately, see the end result of the shot as well, compared to a par four or five where you may not know how the player finishes the hole. So, a lot of great stuff is going on there. 'We have a hole-in-one competition. Fans can sign up and, if the player that they select goes on to score a hole in one, then the player will win the Genesis GV60 car, and the fan will win a trip to the Genesis Championship in Korea, it's encouraging fans to have a stake in the action. ‌ 'I think you've seen comments from other tournaments, certainly at the Masters where the feedback is the fans and the patrons are part of the tournament experience for the players as well. They create the atmosphere, they create the setting, the backdrop that the players appreciate, . 'I think we've always felt that, if we look after the players, the caddies, and if they're playing well and enjoying the experience, that enjoyment translates to the fans and it comes back from the fans. ‌ 'It really is about everyone being vested in creating and elevating the Genesis Scottish Open and I think that's one of the key success factors over the years. 'The elements that can be experienced over the course over those four days mean you see some wonderful shot making, you see some wonderful creativity from the golfers. Hopefully we'll see that reflected in really strong spectator attendance, and lots of golf fans really enjoying the full experience. 'We've got the concert as well on the Saturday night with KT Tunstall, so it really is an event and experience for everyone to come and enjoy, as well as a world-class golf tournament.'

AM Best Affirms Credit Ratings of Trisura Group Ltd. Members

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- AM Best has affirmed the Financial Strength Rating (FSR) of A- (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Ratings (Long-Term ICRs) of 'a-' (Excellent) of Trisura Specialty Insurance Company (TSIC), Trisura Insurance Company (TIC), Bricktown Specialty Insurance Company (BSIC) and Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company (TGIC). Concurrently, AM Best has affirmed the FSR of A- (Excellent) and the Long-Term ICR of 'a-' (Excellent) of First Founders Assurance Company (FFAC) (Chester, NJ). The aforementioned companies are subsidiaries of Trisura Group Ltd. (TGL) [TSX: TSU] (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), a non-operating holding company. TSIC, TIC, and BSIC are domiciled in Oklahoma City, OK, while TGIC is domiciled in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The outlook of these Credit Ratings (ratings) is stable. The ratings reflect TGL's overall balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as very strong, as well as its adequate operating performance, neutral business profile and appropriate enterprise risk management (ERM). The ratings acknowledge improvement in TGL's overall balance sheet strength assessment, supported by the strongest level of risk-adjusted capitalization, as measured by Best's Capital Adequacy Ratio (BCAR). Additionally, the group's capital base has grown significantly over the recent five-year period, driven by several public capital raises and very strong earnings growth, which more than tripled in the recent three-year period. This growth in equity has supported the group's overall growth and its expansion into the admitted U.S. market. While underwriting leverage was previously elevated due to an accelerated growth period, recent moderation in premium growth, combined with capital expansion, has resulted in leverage metrics that closely align with industry norms. Financial flexibility is strong with moderate levels of debt and very strong interest coverage. TGL's operating performance benefits from the diversification in its earnings from fronting fee income, underwriting income and investment income and its business profile recognizes the diversification afforded by its diversified North American footprint, providing specialty insurance in the surety, warranty, corporate insurance, program and fronting business lines. The ratings of FFAC reflect its balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as very strong, as well as its adequate operating performance, limited business profile and appropriate ERM. The ratings acknowledge the significant capital and operational support FFAC receives from TGL and its strategic importance to TGL's U.S. surety operations. In the second quarter of 2024, TGL contributed approximately USD $55 million of capital to FFAC. Furthermore, TGL seeks to continue to expand FFAC's licensing to all 50 states. This press release relates to Credit Ratings that have been published on AM Best's website.
