Pahang Sultan urges swift aid for Temerloh storm victims
TEMERLOH: The Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has urged the state government to accelerate the disbursement of financial aid to families affected by a storm that damaged over 200 homes here last weekend. The Sultan said only RM300 from the District Disaster Fund (TMD) had been distributed so far, with a remaining RM700 still pending. 'I hope this can be channelled soon. The RM5,000 repair assistance should also be expedited,' he said after visiting and extending aid to the affected residents today. The assistance was also delivered by Tengku Panglima Raja Brig Jen Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah and Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri'ayatuddin Shah. Al-Sultan Abdullah also expressed sympathy to those affected, noting that the disaster struck just three days after Hari Raya Aidiladha. 'It is painful not to be able to celebrate Aidiladha properly, but this is Allah's will. Every hardship has its wisdom and we must remain patient,' he said. The storm damaged 210 homes across four mukims namely Perak 2, Bangau, Mentakab 1 and Mentakab 2. The Sultan also extended condolences to the families of two teenage girls killed in a road accident in Temerloh on June 11. In a separate remark, the Sultan warned against following teachings that have been declared deviant by the Pahang Mufti Department, particularly the Ahmadiah sect. 'Why are there still people trying to spread this? We must hold firm to the teachings of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah. This is what we've inherited from our elders and what the majority of Malaysians believe in,' he said.

Jaw Pain – Why Is My Jaw Hurting and How to Get Rid of the Pain
Jaw pain is more than just an inconvenience—it can disrupt your ability to eat, speak, and sleep, affecting your overall quality of life. At Sachar Dental NYC, we specialize in diagnosing and treating jaw pain with cutting-edge, personalized care in New York City. Illustration of TMJ inflammation for jaw pain treatment Jaw pain can stem from multiple factors as stated below. The most common cause of jaw pain is TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder). TMJ Disorders (TMD) – Dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint, which connects the jaw to the skull, can lead to pain, clicking, and restricted movement. Teeth Grinding (Bruxism) – Chronic clenching and grinding of teeth can put excessive strain on jaw muscles, joints and teeth , often occurring subconsciously during sleep. Bite Misalignment – An uneven bite can create tension in the jaw from uneven load when chewing, leading to discomfort and pain over time. Arthritis – Conditions like osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis can affect the TMJ, causing inflammation and pain. Muscle Tension and Stress – Habitual jaw clenching, often due to stress, can contribute to persistent pain from sore muscles. Dental Issues – Tooth infections, gum disease, erupting wisdom teeth or abscesses can cause radiating pain in the jaw area. Injury or Trauma – A direct impact or accident can damage the jaw joint or surrounding muscles, leading to chronic discomfort. The symptoms of TMD can vary in severity and nature. If you experience any of the following, seeking professional evaluation is crucial: Pain or soreness of the jaw muscles Clicking or popping, of the jaw joint when opening or closing the mouth Pain or soreness of the jaw when chewing or biting down Frequent headaches or ear pain Jaw stiffness or locking of the jaw Ringing in the ears Pain in all the teeth that comes and goes A bite that seems off first thing in the morning When treating jaw pain, the first step is accurate diagnosis, followed by an appropriate treatment plan to address the specific issues causing the jaw pain. A thorough clinical exam and x-rays will help to diagnose the cause of the jaw pain. Treatment will depend on the diagnosis. For example, if the jaw pain is due to a wisdom tooth trying to erupt, extraction of wisdom tooth may be recommended. If the jaw pain is due to an abscess or gum infection, antibiotics and gum treatment may be recommended. Treatment for TMD or Temporomandibular Joint Disorder: For those suffering from teeth grinding or TMJ disorders, custom-made oral appliances may be recommended. These appliances can help prevent excessive pressure on the jaw joint and reduce muscle strain and protect teeth from damage caused by bruxism. These appliances are custom fabricated by a trained Dentist NYC or TMJ specialist like Dr Sandip Sachar at Sachar Dental in New York City. If a misaligned bite is contributing to your TMD, an occlusal bite adjustment may be needed. This procedure reshapes specific teeth to create an even bite, alleviating stress on the jaw muscles and joints from uneven load. Massage therapy can help to relieve muscle tension. Heat and cold therapy can help to reduce inflammation Botox is an effective, minimally invasive treatment that relaxes overactive jaw muscles. This reduces tension and discomfort associated with TMJ disorders and bruxism. Botox injections are usually effective for 3-6 months. If the TMD is caused by misalignment, orthodontic treatments such as Invisalign can help reposition teeth, leading to a balanced bite and reduced strain on the jaw joint and muscles. For stress-related TMD that is caused by teeth grinding, incorporating relaxation methods like mindfulness, meditation, and breathing exercises can prevent habitual clenching and the resulting muscle fatigue. The main cause for bruxism or teeth grinding is stress and anxiety. In some cases, anti-inflammatory medications or muscle relaxants may be prescribed to alleviate acute TMD pain while undergoing other treatments. If missing or damaged teeth contribute to TMD, restorations such as crowns, bridges, or implants can help restore a proper bite function and eliminate discomfort. Presenter Zoe Ball's health battle causes 'awful headaches' and 'jaw clenching'
Zoe Ball is hosting the last of the VE Day celebrations tonight - it comes after the presenter opened up about a painful health battle that pushed her to quit her morning breakfast show TV and radio presenter Zoe Ball is leading the VE Day celebration concert tonight, just days after she returned to BBC Radio 2 to launch her new Saturday afternoon show. Zoe, 54, hosted the Radio 2 weekday breakfast show for six years before leaving in December, after an extended absence last summer. It came following the death of her late mother, Julia Peckham, in April last year. In the final few weeks of her breakfast show, Ball took to Instagram to share with fans how her early wake-up calls have been made worse by her health condition. The radio star has Temporomandibular disorder (TMD), also known as TMJ, which affects the joint between your jawbone and your temporal bone. Disorders can cause jaw, neck, and shoulder pain as well as vision problems, dizziness and headaches. Zoe recently shared photos of herself before and after having a lymphatic drainage massage in a bid to relax the muscles and ease pain from the condition. "I have TMJ and wake most days with awful headaches from tension and jaw clenching," she wrote on Instagram. "So grateful to Helen @thesculptresslondon for her magic. This is my face after I've seen her, check out my face before – yikes – picture 2. Can't recommend her enough. She also has the greatest playlists." Zoe's dad, TV presenter Johnny Ball, said his daughter told him she is in "such a good place" after quitting her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show. She will return to the radio this month to host a new weekly show, from 1pm to 3pm on Saturdays. Johnny told Saga Magazine: "Zoe's taken to broadcasting as well as I did – in fact, she's done better than me. "She's earned considerably more money from it. Her mum died last year and she's had various other problems, but she's chuffed to have packed in the Radio 2 breakfast show, as she's realised every day has 24 hours now. Her days used to start at 4am and by the time it got to midday she was knackered. She visited me recently and said: 'I'm in such a good place'."

Old sleet footage misrepresented as Thailand's 'first snow'
"Snow is falling in Huai Kaew, Chiang Mai," says a Thai-language Facebook post published January 14, 2025. Text over the clip reads: "Phenomenon of first snow in Thailand." The footage, filmed by a person in the car, appears to show white particles on the road. A woman's voice says: "Dad, where is mom? Come, come, come watch the snow. Here in Huai Kaew. There's snow in Huai Kaew." The video has accumulated 13 million views and more than 20,000 shares. It has spread alongside similar claims elsewhere on Facebook and TikTok. The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) reported January 20, 2025 that weather conditions in the northern and northeastern regions would range from cold to very cold, with frost expected in some areas (archived links here and here). Due to the La Niña phenomenon, the cold weather is expected to last until mid-February. However, the online video is from 2022 and shows the scene after a hailstorm in Phayao -- not Chiang Mai in 2025. While temperatures in Thailand are cooler from December to February each year, there have never been credible snowfall reports. A reverse image search on Google using keyframes from the footage found a longer version of the same video published in a TikTok post on January 21, 2022 (archived link). The original post's caption reads: "Thai snow, a heavy hailstorm in winter at Baan Nong Lao, Huai Kaew subdistrict, Phu Kam Yao district, Phayao province on 20/01/2022." Separate keyword searches found a Facebook video shared January 20, 2022 that says it was filmed at the same location (archived link). Using visual clues from the TikTok and Facebook videos, AFP geolocated the road where it was filmed (archived link). The TikTok user also confirmed to AFP that the video was taken after a hailstorm in Phayao province, almost 700 kilometres north of Bangkok. MCOT, a Thai state-owned public broadcaster, reported Phayao was rocked by off-season storms in January 2022, leaving a pile of hail stones on streets "like snow" (archived link). In a Facebook post published January 15, 2025, the TMD dismissed rumours of snow, saying there has only been sleet in northern Thailand recently (archived link). TMD previously refuted claims that Thailand experienced its first snowfall in 2024, explaining that the country is located near the equator and has tropical weather conditions that are not conducive for snow (archived link).
