Kyocera Launches New Air-cooled UV LED Light Source 'G7A Series'

KYOTO, Japan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kyocera Corporation (President: Hideo Tanimoto, "Kyocera")(TOKYO:6971) has developed a new air-cooled, UV LED light source that ranks among the smallest in its class *1 while providing revolutionary curing performance for applications such as ink, resin curing and adhesion. The G7A Series will be available in June 2025. *1: Among air-cooled UV LED with a total irradiation of 300 mJ/cm² or more; Kyocera research, March 2025. *2: Among air-cooled UV LED light sources for UV curing applications; Kyocera research, March 2025. Expand Development Background In recent years, UV curing light sources have faced important challenges, including reducing CO2 emissions by decreasing power consumption, lowering ozone emissions, and complying with mercury regulations. Additionally, there is a growing demand for space saving solutions in today's manufacturing, which has led to a need for more compact light sources with higher curing performance. Kyocera's UV LED light sources not only have a low environmental impact, but also adopt an air-cooled system that does not require cooling water, even with high output. As a result, additional equipment such as a water-cooling system is unnecessary, enabling a more compact installation. Through this, our product contributes to greater efficiency and reduced environmental impact for various devices used in manufacturing sites, such as printing, adhesion, and liquid gasket. Features - 1. Achieves the highest irradiance in its class *2 By utilizing Kyocera's proprietary ceramic substrate with heat-dissipation as well as a module heat dissipation design that includes a heat sink, we have maximized energy efficiency while achieving an irradiance of 20W/cm² (at 0 mm irradiance distance), the highest among air-cooled UV LED light sources in this class. Additionally, by achieving a total dose of 400 mJ/cm² at 50 m/min, which is an important indicator of curing performance, we have achieved high-speed curing performance comparable to water-cooled UV LED light sources, all within a compact design. - 2. Contributes to space saving with market-leading miniaturization Compared to the conventional high-output G5H Series, the G7A Series has a footprint 62% smaller and a height 10% lower, placing it among the world's most compact (120 x 52 x 151mm) UV LED light sources with the same optical performance. The G7A offers a 30mm irradiation window, contributing to space savings while preserving high curing performance. - 3. Customizable irradiation width to suit a wide variety of printed materials The G7A has a scalable structure in 120mm increments, allowing the irradiation width to be adjusted from a minimum of 120mm to a maximum of 2,400mm, by connecting multiple light source units. This enables flexible customization of the irradiation width to suit a wide variety of printed materials. Further, the system can connect to external devices via serial communication, permitting fine adjustments to the LED irradiation width in increments of approximately 30mm. - 4. Stable operation enabled by monitoring functions for irradiation status The G7A Series features monitoring functions via serial communication, allowing for LED temperature, LED current, fan operation time, and accumulated LED lighting hours. It can detect lighting and system errors, and provides notifications for filter replacement and LED lifespan, ensuring stable system operation. Through the G7A Series, Kyocera will contribute to space saving in a wide range of industrial printing and curing applications, while contributing to a sustainable global environment. Operation Sindoor delegations wrap up visits to Russia & Japan

MOSCOW/TOKYO/MANAMA: The all-party delegations from India to Russia and Japan on Saturday concluded their visits with "constructive meetings" with diplomatic leaderships discussing global fight against terror as a third similar team reached Bahrain to highlight New Delhi's response to cross-border radicalism. The delegations that exchanged views on furthering cooperation in counter-terrorism and combating radicalism are part of India's global outreach with its seven multi-party delegations travelling to 33 global capitals following the April 22 Pahalgam attack. Meeting with the political leadership, media, officials and members of diplomatic corps, the delegations spread awareness about Pakistan's terror designs and India's response to terror and shared information about Operation Sindoor . The delegation to Moscow, led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, addressed a presser at the end of the visit and described Russia as a "close and tried and tested" friend. "We naturally seek an understanding that Russia is by our side in this time of difficulty," the delegation members said. Kanimozhi described the Russia visit as a "great opportunity to explain our stand" and said, "Pakistan chooses to protect the terrorists, they go ahead and spread false propaganda. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Click Here - This Might Save You From Losing Money Expertinspector Click Here Undo We had only targeted terror hubs. India is very clear, we would not come to the table for peace talks when Pakistan continues attacking us." Earlier Friday, Russia reiterated its decisive commitment to "an uncompromising joint fight" with New Delhi against terrorism. The delegation to Japan Saturday wrapped up its three-day visit after engaging with Japan's political leadership, policymakers, media and Indian community and said it was deeply encouraged by Tokyo's unequivocal support in New Delhi's war against terror. JD(U) RS MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, who led the delegation, said: "At every forum, we firmly reiterated India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and exposed Pakistan's continued patronage of cross-border terror. " The delegation visited the Tama Cemetery in Tokyo and honoured freedom fighter Rash Behari Bose on the eve of his birth anniversary. TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, part of the delegation to Japan, said if terrorism is a "rabid dog", Pakistan is its "vile handler", and the world must unite to tackle it.

The Air Self-Defense Force's T-4 training aircraft crashed near a lake in central Japan's Aichi region immediately after taking off at its Komaki Air Base last week. "The deaths of its two crew members were confirmed today," Hiroaki Uchikura, head of the ASDF, told a news conference. "It is gut-wrenching that we lost these precious lives of our comrades," Uchikura said. A search after the crash soon led to the discovery of what appeared to be remains but officials could not immediately identify them. However, "a subsequent official analysis confirmed, much to our sorrow, that these belong to two soldiers on board that we had been looking for", Uchikura said. He said he "takes the accident seriously" and "will do our best to identify the cause and improve aviation safety". The T-4 seats two and is a "domestically produced, highly reliable and maintainable training aircraft... used for all basic flight courses", according to the defence ministry website. Aerial footage of the lake soon after the crash broadcast by NHK showed an oil slick on its surface dotted with what appeared to be debris. - AFP

Japan's SoftBank Group books 517 billion yen Q4 profit; beats estimates

[TOKYO] Japanese investment conglomerate SoftBank Group booked a net profit of 517 billion yen (S$4.6 billion) for January-to-March quarter on strong performance from its telecommunications holdings and higher valuations in its later-stage startup holdings. The result compared with 231 billion yen profit for the same period the previous year and the 26.9 billion yen average loss from five analyst estimates compiled by LSEG. The results illustrate the risks and rewards of SoftBank's approach of investing in high-growth technology companies – as well as the complexities that shifting valuations pose to those estimating its earnings. The Vision Fund 1, which invests in later-stage startups, made an investment gain of 940 billion yen, boosted by increases in the fair value of holdings such as TikTok operator Bytedance and e-commerce platform Coupang. In contrast Vision Fund 2, which invests in earlier-stage startups, booked an investment loss of 526 billion yen. SoftBank's holdings in mature telecommunications companies, including T-Mobile US and Deutsche Telekom, have been a consistent source of investment gain in recent quarters. T-Mobile shares hit an all-time high in March and ended the quarter up more than 20 per cent. REUTERS
