TRENDS participates in Glacier Conservation Conference in Tajikistan
31 May 2025 10:53 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)TRENDS Research & Advisory participated in a high-level international conference on glacier conservation, which was held in Dushanbe, conference was inaugurated by Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan.A delegation from TRENDS represented the centre at the conference, led by senior researcher Abdulaziz Al Shehhi, deputy head of the research Shehhi delivered a speech on behalf of TRENDS CEO Dr. Mohammed Al Ali, in which he underscored that melting glaciers represent one of the most alarming consequences of climate change. He emphasised the urgent need to strengthen international cooperation, and reaffirm commitment to implementing global agreements, such as the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement and the landmark UAE declaration issued at Mohammed Al-Ali emphasised that transitioning to renewable energy represents a strategic response to global warming. He highlighted the need to scale up renewable energy production, and to enhance energy efficiency by 2030, in line with the targets of the COP28 Conference. The UAE as a ModelThe UAE is a pioneering model of adopting renewable energy projects. It plans to use 44% of its energy from renewable sources by 2050, with investments of up to $163 billion in solar technologies and sustainable development initiatives. Dr. Al Ali highlighted some key undertakings, such as Masdar City, the world's first carbon-emission-free city; the three largest operational solar power plants globally, with a fourth under construction; and the world's most prominent single-site solar collector. TRENDS highlights UAE as global model in combating extremism and promoting tolerance
26 May 2025 16:05 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)TRENDS Research & Advisory affirmed that the United Arab Emirates stands as a global role model in combating extremism and promoting a culture of tolerance and moderation, thanks to the vision of its wise leadership and its ongoing efforts to strengthen intellectual resilience and instill values of loyalty and national identity. These insights were shared at Um Ghafah Majlis, held on May 24, 2025, under the theme "Intellectual Nakhwah", where the Senior Researcher and Head of Research Sector at TRENDS, Mohammed Al-Salmi, delivered the center's address on behalf of the CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah his address, Al-Salmi explained that the concept of intellectual nakhwah represents a crucial pillar of intellectual is rooted in the UAE's core values of dignity, responsibility, and honour, which are deeply embedded in Emirati society and have been actively reinforced by the country's leadership. He added that this concept provides a strong line of defense for youth and society against deviant ideologies and extremist outlined three major challenges to intellectual security in the region: extremist ideologies promoted by terrorist groups, particularly the Muslim Brotherhood; imported ideas that seek to erode religious and moral values; and malicious media campaigns aimed at tarnishing the UAE's image emphasised TRENDS' belief that intellectual resilience is the first line of defense against these threats, and noted that the UAE leads global efforts through strict legislation, educational curricula that promote moderation and national identity, and institutional initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of tolerance and also highlighted TRENDS' pioneering role in this field through its international research partnerships and in-depth analytical studies that deconstruct extremist ideologies. MoIAT, TRENDS sign agreement to support research and knowledge cooperation
24 May 2025 13:37 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TRENDS Research & Advisory to support research and knowledge analysis agreement, finalised during the fourth edition of the Make it in the Emirates exhibition - which concluded on May 22 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) - also includes efforts to strengthen the UAE's national strategies in the fields of industry, technology, and MoU was signed by Osama Amir Fadl, Assistant Undersecretary for the Industrial Accelerators Sector at MoIAT, and Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of MoU provides for collaboration in joint research within the industrial and technological sectors, the exchange of research materials, support for policy development, and the organsiation of specialised workshops and seminars, thus enhancing the UAE's position as a regional center for innovation and knowledge in the advanced industrial Amir Fadl emphasised the importance of this partnership, noting that it aligns with the Ministry's commitment to supporting industrial decision-making with reliable data and research analysis. TRENDS explores cooperation with Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The session focused on exploring prospects for cooperation and strategic partnership between TRENDS and Belgian think tanks, academic institutions, and universities, to exchange knowledge and expertise and collaborate in organising joint research and scientific discussion highlighted opportunities to establish long-term cooperation between Belgian research institutions and TRENDS through joint studies and academic exchange. It also addressed Belgium's strategic priorities in the Gulf region and explored how TRENDS' regional and international expertise can support policymaking, foster mutual understanding, and advance diplomatic efforts. The ultimate aim is to help activate platforms for constructive dialogue between experts and academics from the European Union and the Gulf in the session, held at the headquarters of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussed ways to strengthen strategic cooperation between TRENDS and Belgian think tanks in the fields of research and academia. The session featured the participation of Ms. Valerie Cuvelier, Advisor for Gulf Countries at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Pol De Witte, Director General of the Egmont Institute; along with a group of experts and researchers from TRENDS. Effective Strategic Partnerships Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, affirmed the Centre's commitment to strengthening its international presence through effective strategic partnerships. He noted that this is in line with TRENDS' broader efforts to open new horizons of cooperation with European research and academic institutions, particularly Belgian think tanks, by launching joint research initiatives, scientific and training programs, and organising international conferences and intellectual panel discussions.
