Hoffenheim target Serbian right back Ognjen Mimović

Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports that TSG 1899 Hoffenheim are targeting Serbian right back Ognjen Mimović of Fenerbahçe Istanbul. The Turkish journalist already correctly predicted a transfer move involving the Bundesliga club this summer when reporting on a loan out for defender Attila Szalai. Sabuncuoğlu claims that the Sinsheimers have submitted a formal offer for the 20-year-old. Hoffenehim possess an exigent need at the right back position. Valentin Gendrey was meant to fill the slot made vacant by Pavel Kaderabek's departure this summer, but the Frenchman recently succumbed to a serious injury and looks to be out long-term. Mimović only just moved to Fenerbahçe during the January 2025 transfer window on a €6.7m deal from Red Star Belgrade. He was then immediately loaned out to Zenit St. Petersburg. The now twice-capped Serbian international has generated plenty of interests from other clubs. Sabuncuoğlu reports that Antalyaspor are also interested in Mimović. The player himself – having not yet even made an appearance for his new parent club – will obviously wish to take his time making a decision on his future. At present, Mimović maintains an estimated market value of €3.5m. GGFN |

Soccer-Promoted Leeds sign German midfielder Stach

Soccer Football - Bundesliga - TSG 1899 Hoffenheim v Bayer Leverkusen - PreZero Arena, Hoffenheim, Germany - September 14, 2024 TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Anton Stach after the match REUTERS/Heiko Becker/File Photo (Reuters) -Leeds United have signed Germany midfielder Anton Stach from TSG Hoffenheim on a four-year contract, the Premier League club said on Tuesday as they continue to strengthen the squad for their return to the top flight. British media reported that the transfer fee was around 17.4 million pounds ($23.5 million). The 26-year-old, who has two international caps, joined Hoffenheim in 2023, scoring four goals and registering six assists in 71 appearances. "My style of play, I would say I am an aggressive player. I am good in duels. I am good at anticipating passes from the opponents and it would be good for the Premier League," Stach said in a statement. Leeds start their Premier League campaign at home to Everton on August 18. ($1 = 0.7412 pounds) (Reporting by Pearl Josephine Nazare in Goa, editing by Ed Osmond)

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany walks out of meaningless press conference: 'Cheers!'

FC Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany saw no need to conduct a post match press conference yesterday. The Bundesliga title already having long been secured, Kompany had nothing to add after a 0-4 away win at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on the season's final matchday. Kompany and the press officer at the PreZero Arena did show up in the press room, but showed little-no-interest in proceeding with the formality. Kompany was brought into the room early whilst TSG head coach Christian Ilzer, the Hoffenheim front office managerial representatives, and most of the journalists weren't ready to join. The press officer made clear that he wanted to get Kompany in, out, and on his way quickly. Advertisement 'We're joining to separate the press conference today so that we can all go home,' the press officer began. 'Thanks for your understanding and thanks for coming. I'll ask for the first questions for our head coach. Whoever wishes to begin can raise their hand and take the microphone.' Kompany wasn't prepared to let it go that far. 'I'm not expecting any questions,' Kompany remarked with a snarky smirk. 'Since we just won 4-0.' 'Yes there's been a bit of a logjam [of people getting into the room],' the press officer then went on to say as no one seemed interested in raising their hands. 'Maybe we'll give it a few more seconds, or just take photos today?' Kompany gave it all of 0.2 seconds. 'Cheers,' Kompany said raising a glass of water and getting up. 'Thanks to the lads!' Report: Bayern open to tweaking Sané contract offer

Munich's Leroy Sane stands next to the substitutes' bench before the German Bundesliga soccer match between TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich at PreZero Arena. Tom Weller/dpa Bayern Munich are ready to adjust their contract offer for Leroy Sané and raise the Germany winger's base salary, while reducing bonus payments, the Sport Bild newspaper reported on Tuesday. After recently switching agents, the 29-year-old turned down a contract extension that would have kept him in Munich until 2028, according to reports. His current deal is set to expire on June 30. Advertisement Bayern are now pushing for clarity before the team heads to the Club World Cup in the United States on June 10. The club wants to know whether Sané plans to stay or move on. If no agreement is reached, it would be another blow for the Bundesliga giants. Over the weekend, it was reported that Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, long on Bayern's radar, has ruled out a move to Munich. The German playmaker is said to be eyeing a transfer to Liverpool instead.

Ter Stegen, Füllkrug and Gnabry return to Germany squad, Musiala out

Munich's Serge Gnabry (2nd R) celebrates scoring his side's third goal with teammates during the German Bundesliga soccer match between TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich at PreZero Arena. Uwe Anspach/dpa Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and West Ham forward Niclas Füllkrug have been included in the Germany squad for the Nations League Final Four. Coach Julian Nagelsmann's list announced on Thursday also included Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry. Antonio Rüdiger, Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz were left out as they recover from injuries. Advertisement Nagelsmann said that the decision to leave out the trio was "extremely bitter," but consistent from his point of view. All three players would have been available for short spells at most. "And we also have to look further ahead," Nagelsmann said with a view to the upcoming World Cup season. The Nations League Final Four is on June 4-8 in Germany, with Nagelsmann's team facing Portugal in the semi-finals. "If we reach our top level, we can beat Portugal. That is our goal. We will put everything into it to make sure we reach the final in Munich," the coach said. Gnabry last played for the national team in November. He missed the Nations League quarter-final against Italy in March due to his inconsistent performances at Bayern. Advertisement Media reports on Wednesday said Gnabry was set to return to the team due to his improvement in performance. Ter Stegen is returning after recovering from a serious knee injury, but it's unclear whether he will take the position between the posts. The Barcelona keeper was set to become Germany's number one after Manuel Neuer retired from the national team after last summer's Euro 2024. But the knee injury suffered in September opened the door for Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel. Baumann started both matches against Italy in March. Füllkrug last played for Germany in September and has since struggled with Achilles tendon problems, which had an impact on his form. But he was called up again in the absence of the injured Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Tim Kleindienst. Advertisement Florian Wirtz, Waldemar Anton and Felix Nmecha are also coming back. As confirmed by under-21 coach Antonio di Salvo on Wednesday, VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade was called up to the Germany senior team for the first time. Di Salvo had confirmed the move when naming his squad for the under-21 European championship. Woltemade was also included in the U21 squad for the Euros in Slovakia on June 11-28, but has declared he has no objections to playing in both tournaments. Hoffenheim's Tom Bischof is surprisingly the second newcomer in the team.
