‘Indulging in terrorism for many years': Asaduddin Owaisi slams Pakistan as 'epicentre of Takfirism' during Gulf tour, calls for FATF action
File photo: AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi (Picture credit: PTI) NEW DELHI: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi , who was part of a multi-party delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda to four Gulf countries, launched a scathing attack on Pakistan on Wednesday, accusing it of sponsoring terrorism through illicit financial networks and promoting extremist ideologies. Speaking to news agency ANI, Owaisi described Pakistan as the 'epicentre of Takfirism' and alleged that its government, deep state, and intelligence agency ISI were complicit in funding terror groups. 'We represented India over there... and told them Pakistan has been indulging in terrorism in India for many years,' he said. He added that the Resistance Front, which was behind the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack , was essentially a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba , and India's concerns had already been conveyed to the United Nations Security Council's 1262 sanctions committee. Owaisi further referred to Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir's speech on April 15, implying its alignment with extremist ideology. 'Terrorism survives on two things, ideology and money,' he said, urging the international community to act on both fronts. 'A form of polio exists only in two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan… there is 40% poverty in Pakistan, so where is the money going?' He noted that the four nations visited, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria, were part of groups like the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF), and had previously backed India's diplomatic push to place Pakistan on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list in 2018. During their stop in Algeria, Owaisi reiterated that 'there is no ideological difference between the terrorist groups in Pakistan and Daesh and Al-Qaeda'. He stressed that Islam does not permit violence and said the international community must act against countries that provide ideological and financial shelter to terrorists. He also said that placing Pakistan back on the FATF grey list would significantly reduce terror attacks in India. 'Once you bring Pakistan back in the grey list, we will see a decrease in terrorism in India… we have the 2018 experience when Algeria and other countries helped India,' he said. Referring to the case of 26/11 handler Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Owaisi added, 'The trial progressed immediately when Pakistan was put on the Grey list. That tells you how effective FATF can be.' The eight-member delegation, including MPs Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and former foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, met leaders and think tanks in the four countries to highlight India's stand on terrorism, particularly following the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. According to news agency PTI, the delegation also presented its feedback to external affairs minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday. Jaishankar reportedly congratulated the delegation and said the objectives of the visit were fulfilled. 'All four countries have taken clear steps against terrorism and understand India's principled stand,' said Panda.

Posters of Owaisi with slogans
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 4 (ANI): Posters featuring All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi were seen on Hyderabad's metro pillars after an all-party delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda, and including him, concluded its visits to Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Owaisi's flex boards featured several slogans, including 'One man against terror, one truth against Pakistan, exposing the enemy within, for India, with pride.' During their visit, the delegation briefed international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, highlighting the broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaged with leaders in key countries. During his visit to Algeria, AIMIM chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi lambasted Pakistan, calling it an 'epicentre of Takfirism.' Addressing the Algerian media, members of think tanks and the Indian diaspora, Owaisi said that there is no ideological difference between the terrorist groups in Pakistan and Daesh and Al-Qaeda. 'Pakistan is the epicentre of Takfirism, and there is no difference in ideology between the terrorist groups in Pakistan and Daesh and Al-Qaeda. They believe that they have a religious sanction, which is completely wrong. Islam does not allow the killing of any person, and unfortunately, that is their ideology.' Owaisi further reiterated his demand to put Pakistan back on the Grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). 'Terrorism survives on two things - ideology and money. Ideology, you know very well, you have seen the Black Decade, even in South Algeria, you still have some problems. On that point, we are together... Once you bring Pakistan back in the Grey list (of FATF), we will see a decrease in terrorism in India. We'll see killings coming down. We have the 2018 experience when Algeria and other countries helped India,' Owaisi said. Emphasising the effectiveness of the Grey list of FATF to counter terrorism, Owaisi said, 'There was this one terrorist called Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi - no country in the world would allow a terrorist who's facing a terror charge. He became a father to a son while sitting in prison. The trial progressed immediately when Pakistan was put on the Grey list (of FATF).' 'It's not only a question of South Asia. We are the 4th largest economy. What will happen? Do you want all this carnage to spread to different parts of South Asia? No. It is in the interest of world peace to control Pakistan, which is the main sponsor of terrorism. It has to be brought back in the FATF Grey list,' he added. (ANI)

Pakistan terror epicentre, must be put back on FATF Grey List for world peace: Asad
Hyderabad: Dubbing Pakistan as the epicentre of Takfirism and a training ground for terrorists whose ideology is no different from Daesh and Al-Qaeda, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi said that the country should be put back on the Grey List of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for ensuring world peace. "Terrorism emanates from Pakistan. They believe they have a religious sanction (to kill), which is completely wrong. Islam does not allow the killing of any person, but unfortunately that is their ideology. Terrorism survives on two factors – ideology and money. Unless Pakistan is brought on FATF Grey list, they will continue to sponsor terrorism," Owaisi said in Algeria while addressing the media, members of think tanks and the Indian diaspora. The Hyderabad MP is part of an all-party delegation to Algeria sent by the govt of India to expose Pakistan-sponsored terrorism to the world. India has sent several all-party delegations to show its resolve against terrorism and garner international support following Operation Sindoor in response to the attack in Pahalgam where 26 tourists were killed on April 22. Pointing out that Algeria had itself been a victim of Takfirism – a radical ideology that calls for killing those considered non-believers – Owaisi said: "We are together on this point. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Killings will come down once Pakistan is brought back in the Grey list (of FATF). We have the 2018 experience when Algeria and other countries helped India (on FATF)." Citing the case of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi – the mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack – Owaisi said: "No country in the world would allow such special treatment to a terrorist. He became a father to a son while sitting in prison. But the trial progressed immediately when Pakistan was put on the Grey list (of FATF). It's not only a question of South Asia. We are the fourth largest economy. What will happen? Do you want all this carnage to spread to different parts of South Asia? No. It is in the interest of world peace to control Pakistan, which is the main sponsor of terrorism. It has to be brought back in the FATF Grey list." Owaisi appealed to the global community to rein in Pakistan for openly promoting UN-proscribed terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) that is ideologically close to Al-Qaeda and also helped the terror group responsible for the 9/11 attacks in the US. "Anyone who picks up arms is a terrorist. Can't allow any space to be given to any terrorist," he said.
