Syria signs $7 bn power deal with Qatar's UCC Holding-led consortium
Tribune News Network Damascus Syria has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a consortium of international companies led by Qatar's UCC Holding to develop major power generation projects with a foreign investment valued at $7 billion. The agreement involves building four combined-cycle gas turbine power plants with a total capacity of 4,000 megawatts, plus a 1,000-MW solar power plant in southern Syria. This initiative aligns with the agenda to rebuild Syria's core infrastructure, enhance energy security, and support economic development. The consortium is led by UCC Holding, through its subsidiary UCC Concessions Investment, a Qatari company specializing in energy concessions and Construction. The consortium includes: • Power International USA LLC– American company specializing in strategic energy investments • Kalyon GES Enerji Yatırımları AS – Turkish renewable energy investor and developer • Cengiz Enerji San. ve Tic. AS – Turkish energy development and operation company This strategic alliance reflects the vision and leadership of His Highness Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in supporting Syria's economic recovery and contributing to the reconstruction of a renewed Syrian state through impactful initiatives aimed at energizing the national economy and advancing the country's path toward power self-sufficiency. The agreement covers the development of four combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plants in Traifawi (Homs), Zayzoun (Hama), Deir-Azzour, and Mehardeh (Hama), with an approximate installed generation capacity of 4,000 MW, using American and European technologies, and a 1,000 MW solar power plant in Wedian Alrabee, located in the southern region of Syria. page 2

Cabinet okays decision to restructure MoL units
QNA Doha The Cabinet has approved a draft decision to amend the structure of certain administrative units in the Ministry of Labour (MoL) and define their jurisdictions. This draft decision, prepared by the Ministry of Labour, aims to update responsibilities related to the formulation and development of nationalisation policies, which are considered one of the main pillars for achieving workforce-related development goals. The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, took the decision at its regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday. At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet hailed the participation of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the Second GCC-ASEAN Summit held on Tuesday, in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. The Cabinet emphasised that HH the Amir's participation reflects the State of Qatar's commitment to strengthening partnerships and deepening the GCC-Asian cooperation across various fields, in a manner that serves the interests of people and supports joint efforts for development and peace. The Cabinet also approved a draft basic contribution agreement between Qatar Fund for Development and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to support the regular resources of it approved a draft agreement between the State of Qatar and the United Nations regarding arrangements for the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

QEF concludes with concrete outcomes, global impact
Tribune News Network Doha The fifth edition of the 'Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg' concluded in Doha last week with strong international turnout, high-level conversations, and concrete outcomes that reinforced Qatar's growing role as a global convening power. Held from May 20 to 22 under the high patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Forum welcomed over 3,000 in-person attendees from more than 90 countries and featured more than 120 speakers, including global leaders, CEOs, policymakers, and government officials. Amir, Singapore PM exchange views on regional and global developments
QNA Kuala Lumpur The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong on the sidelines of the second ASEAN-GCC Summit, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Malaysia. The meeting discussed areas of bilateral cooperation and explored ways to enhance them across various fields. The two sides also exchanged views on the latest regional and international development, as well as the topics listed on the Summit agenda. The meeting was attended by Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and a number of members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir. From the Singapore side, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan and high-ranking officials attended the meeting.

Amir aspires to deepen ties with ASEAN
QNA Kuala Lumpur His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, together with Their Highnesses heads of delegations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and leaders of Asian countries, governments and heads of delegations, participated in the second ASEAN-GCC Summit, held under the theme 'Inclusivity and Sustainability' at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia. The summit was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir, members of official delegations, representatives of regional and international organizations, and guests. HH the Amir expressed hope that the outcomes of the second ASEAN-GCC Summit would contribute to deepening the prospects of trade, economic and political cooperation in a manner that serves the shared interests of the peoples.
