Sydney Sweeney stuns as she welcomes new family member - but fans have same question
Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney has introduced fans to her new family member months after her split from film producer fiance Jonathan Davino Sydney Sweeney has showed off her new family member on social media - a cute puppy named Sully. In a sweet video clip, the 27-year-old Euphoria and White Lotus star is seen cuddling her new pet on a boat. The actress - who it's rumoured could be the next Bond girl - displayed her long tanned legs in a black, long-sleeved surfer style swim suit. The song 'Good Dog' played over the top of the clip, which she captioned: "Sully update." She first introduced German Shepherd Sully to her 25 million Instagram followers in April when she shared a snap with the caption: "Introducing sully bear. So far in our two weeks together he's become my set best friend, my bowling partner, my nap buddy, mutual water enthusiast, and travel companion." He has even been pictured with her on the cover of The Sunday Times Style magazine, which she captioned: "Sully's first cover." But fans have been asking where her other pitbull dog Tank is, who hasn't featured on her social feed in a grid post since August last year when he appeared on the cover of Dogue - the doggy version of Vogue magazine. "Where's tank?" one concerned fan asked, as another replied: "I was looking for this comment! What happened to her dog? She was always talking about him/her (idk) and now poof- gone?" A third commented: "Is Tank okay? "That's what I wanna know!!" said a fourth. "Hey where's Tank though?" asked a fifth. Sydney revealed she's had Tank since she was 17 years old and would even take her to school with her, where she became a kind of 'class pet'. In the past she has opened up about how Tank plays a big role in her mental health, telling PEOPLE magazine: "My dog, Tank, really is so important in my own self-care process. Whether it's just playing with her, taking her to the dog park or taking her on a walk. It just lets me take a moment and unplug from everything else." Though Tank hasn't featured on Sydney's socials recently, there's nothing to suggest she has passed away. But fans noted she did get new pup Sully shortly after her break up with film producer fiance Jonathan Davino earlier this year. The pair had been together seven years and were set to marry this May, but Sydney reportedly cancelled the ceremony as she "couldn't handle the stress." The pair are also said to have had "major issues" over her rising career which took up a lot of her time. And fans aren't holding out much hope of a reconciliation, with one writing on Reddit: "Oh she's done done. When a woman replaces the longtime BF with a dog, she's making it so clear." Another said: "No dog has ever disappointed me in my entire life, every man though..."

Why Surat's gems are losing their shine
(NOTE: This article was originally published in the India Today issue dated July 21, 2025)Joblessness as an occupational hazard? Yes, and it can be fatal, pretty frequently it seems, for those who work the machines in Surat's diamond industry these days. Last July, Sagar Makwana (21), a polisher, died by suicide after losing his job. Come September, thirtysomething Nikunj Tank went the same way, after a spell of deep depression. He left behind two children and a wife. May this year saw the death of Kapil Nimavat, 45, another jobless diamond worker with two schoolgoing children. The Diamond Workers' Union of Gujarat (DWUG) cites over 100 deaths in the past three years—55 suicides in the past year did we get here? It's a full-blown crisis in the diamond industry. Natural diamond sales saw a severe slump after 2022. Lab Grown Diamonds (LGDs)—70 per cent cheaper—got more popular. Now the global markets are sitting on an unprecedented glut of natural diamonds following a 25-30 per cent wholesale price correction. Over the past three years, manufacturers have had to significantly reduce their output. In times of such economic distress, the pain primarily flows downward: in this case, the 800,000 diamond artisans of Surat, often migrants from Saurashtra and elsewhere, who form a bulk of the nearly 1.2 million-strong workforce across Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. Possibly for the first time in the history of the five-decade-old diamond polishing industry in Surat, 500 workers went on a two-day strike in March, demanding a 30 per cent increase in wages. In May, the Gujarat government announced an aid package for the industry, the first admission that it is indeed in trouble. The children of certified diamond polishers would get Rs 13,500 school fees, besides power and interest subsidies for small units. But Bhavesh Tank, vice president, DWUG, calls it futile. 'Most companies employ artisans on an informal basis, so proving you are a bona fide employee will be next to impossible,' he says. The fees package practically leaves out younger, unmarried polishers—it assumes they have no dependants. 'Unmarried polishers have younger siblings and old parents as dependants,' says Tank. Their aid coming through depends on proving they have schoolgoing dependant siblings. 'Also, the incentives for small units will not trickle down to the worst-affected artisans as the industry understanding is to reduce the supply of diamonds. They will absorb the government benefits but not increase hours or wages.'As artisans fail to make ends meet, at least a fourth of the trained workforce is believed to have returned to their villages in Saurashtra's Amreli and Bhavnagar districts. Earlier water-starved, the availability of Narmada water has revived farming there. But, says Tank, 'for marginal farmers, agriculture remains risky due to climate threats and volatility in market prices of produce'. What's a side hustle for them? Gig work in diamond polishing. Shashikant Shah, chairman, LGD Council of India, says almost every second village in these districts has a dozen-odd 'ghantis' (diamond polishing wheels). By engaging workers there, 'diamantaires are trying to reduce cost of production while retaining a trained workforce,' he SELLERS GO NATURALThough almost every exporter and trader now deals with LGDs, Shah says some admit to it and most don't. Surat itself has 14,000-15,000 LGD machines, according to the LGD Council, followed by 400 in Mumbai, 200 in Jaipur, 25 in Delhi and 200 being planned in Hyderabad. 'With new companies and different brand names, the younger generations educated abroad have taken to LGDs. But the 30-odd big diamantaires have an inventory of natural diamonds worth Rs 200 crore each, so they aggressively defend the traditional system,' he adds. That's led to a paradoxical push: resources have been diverted to marketing natural diamonds over LGDs, a campaign that's yielding some results. In a slack global market, India has risen over China as the second largest destination for the genuine article. But Shah believes the future potential lies with LGD. Survival remains key for all players—whether at the top or the bottom of the to India Today Magazine- Ends

Man kills granddad over money, burns body
Rajkot: A 20-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly bludgeoning his 73-year-old grandfather to death over money. On July 7, Harsh Solanki, who had spiralled into debt, killed Mansukh Tank, a resident of Mafatiyapara area, and tried to destroy evidence by burning his body. The next day, a complaint against an unknown person was registered with University police station, but investigations soon pointed towards Solanki, who later admitted to his crime, police said. Tank's partially burnt body was found from his residence with multiple head injuries, police said. Details that have emerged so far show that Solanki had borrowed money from Tank, and both had disputes over its repayment. Police also revealed Solanki had recently lost Rs 4 lakh in online gambling and had a credit card bill of Rs 1 lakh, adding to the financial pressure. Investigation officer Haresh Patel said, "There were no known enemies or disputes, so the suspicion naturally turned inward. CCTV footage and family statements helped confirm it. According to deputy commissioner of police (Zone 2) Jagdish Bangarwa, the motive stemmed from financial stress and long-standing family tension. "The accused's father had borrowed Rs 4 lakh from the victim on a monthly interest of Rs 4,000. Harsh too had borrowed Rs 35,000 and was paying Rs 1,800 a month as interest. There had been past disputes over repayments." Bangarwa added that Solanki has in the past been booked for burglary by Ahmedabad's Sola police. "He was fed up with his grandfather's taunts over this crime and his own inability to repay the mounting debts. Solanki began watching YouTube videos on how to commit a crime without getting caught to chalk out a detailed plan to kill his grandfather." On the day of the crime, Solanki visited his grandfather's home and struck him multiple times with a metal pipe. He then set his body and account book on fire after pouring petrol. He locked the house from outside and left, police said, adding that neighbours alerted the fire brigade after seeing smoke. Police are also investigating where he obtained the loose petrol from. Authorities discovered the body, and a post-mortem confirmed multiple head injuries as the cause of death. A case of murder was formally registered on July 8.
