TDT| Manama The Ministry of Industry and Commerce was recognised yesterday for its high-performing Metal Testing Center, which earned a prestigious Golden Shield under the government's flagship service evaluation initiative, 'Taqyeem 5'. The shield was presented by Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Director General of the Institute of Public Administration and Vice Chair of the Government Service Centers Evaluation Committee, in the presence of His Excellency Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce. The Metal Testing Center achieved Gold Category status in the latest round of the 'Taqyeem' programme, which benchmarks public service quality across the Kingdom. The award highlights the centre's progress in raising standards of customer service and operational efficiency. H.E. The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture has received the prestigious Gold Shield following the outstanding performance of the Southern and Northern municipal service centers, which achieved the Gold Category rating in the fifth edition of the Government Service Centers Evaluation Program (Taqyeem 5). During the official handover ceremony, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Director-General of the Institute of Public Administration and Deputy Chairperson of the Evaluation Committee, presented the shield to H.E. Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture. Driven by Visionary Leadership Minister Wael Al Mubarak praised the guidance of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, highlighting that his directives continue to instill a culture of excellence and sustainable development across government institutions. 'These accomplishments reflect the commitment to delivering high-quality services to citizens and residents while constantly enhancing customer service centers,' the minister said. He also commended the dedicated efforts of staff at the Northern Municipality's customer service center in A'ali and the Southern Municipality's public service center, emphasizing that their excellence was instrumental in achieving the Gold Category classification. The undersecretary affirmed that the ministry is dedicated to ensuring all service centers under its umbrella continue to evolve, noting that such recognitions will significantly contribute to enhancing municipal services nationwide. Bahrain Defence Force Sends 50th Hajj Delegation in Honor of National Service In a related development, the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force lauded the deployment of the 50th Hajj Delegation as a tribute to the tireless dedication of BDF personnel. He noted that this annual mission reflects the continued care and appreciation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, for the heroic efforts of the BDF members in service of the nation. Guidance, Unity, and Prayers for the Nation The commander delivered heartfelt directives to the delegation, urging them to uphold the values of Islamic compassion and unity, and to extend warmth and cooperation among fellow pilgrims. TDT | Manama iGA's ID Card Centre at Seef Mall - Arad has been awarded the Gold Category classification for the fourth time in the government's annual Taqyeem evaluation, which measures the performance of service centres across the Kingdom. The award was presented as part of the fifth edition of the Taqyeem Government Service Centre Evaluation Programme, overseen by the Institute of Public Administration and its evaluation committee. The Seef Mall - Arad branch was among a select group to achieve the Gold rating, which is based on metrics such as accessibility, clarity of procedures, and the availability of multiple service channels. According to officials, improvements were made in response to feedback received during the previous evaluation cycle, including better integration with the Tawasul platform and clearer service flow. iGA response Ms. Dua'a Sultan Mohamed, Deputy Chief Executive of Statistics and Population Registry at the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), said the award was a reflection of the team's effort to enhance customer-facing services. She noted that both in-person and digital services had been streamlined to reduce wait times and improve access. The awards recognised outstanding achievements in public service delivery, reflecting Bahrain's commitment to enhancing service quality across government entities. HRH Prince Salman praised the dedication of Bahraini citizens in driving the Kingdom's comprehensive development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also expressed pride in the passion and ambition of the national workforce, calling them the cornerstone of Bahrain's ongoing progress. New platinum category The fifth edition of 'Taqyeem' introduced a new platinum classification to recognise excellence at remote government service centres. HRH noted that the programme's updated evaluation criteria and broader scope align with Bahrain's digital transformation and competitiveness goals. Among the awarded entities were centres affiliated with the Ministries of Interior, Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Industry and Commerce, Transportation and Telecommunications, Justice and Islamic Affairs, and Social Development. Notable recipients included the Royal Humanitarian Foundation Customer Service Centre and several branches of the General Directorate of Traffic. Performance benchmarks The Ministry of Interior Customs Affairs remote customer service centre and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning's remote customer service centre received the inaugural platinum awards. HRH Prince Salman highlighted that these successes are not endpoints but benchmarks to further raise service standards across Bahrain's public sector. According to programme data, 88 percent of government service centres met the excellence criteria, with 56 of 64 entities achieving at least 90 percent of the set benchmarks. Continuous improvement Since the inception of 'Taqyeem', 58 underperforming centres have been closed or merged to improve efficiency, ensuring continued access to high-quality services for citizens, residents, and visitors. HRH Prince Salman commended ministries that maintained high standards or significantly improved over time. He also acknowledged the evaluation committee's role in advancing innovation and efficiency across government operations. Ministers and officials of the recognised centres expressed gratitude for the honour, stating that the awards serve as both a badge of distinction and a motivation to further enhance services for Bahrain's people. His Royal Highness emphasised the dedication and efforts of Bahraini citizens, which continue to drive the Kingdom's comprehensive development, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad expressed his pride in the national workforce, whose passion and ambition are key enablers of the Kingdom's ongoing progress. His Royal Highness commended the development of the fifth edition of the 'Taqyeem' evaluation program, noting the introduction of a new platinum classification for remote government service centres, reflecting their excellence in delivering government services. His Royal Highness emphasised that the programme's updated evaluation criteria and expanded scope are aligned with Bahrain's digital transformation goals and public sector competitiveness. His Royal Highness highlighted that these efforts reflect the determination in providing quality service delivery and commitment to develop national efforts. His Royal Highness emphasised that the government service centres awarded gold and platinum awards for distinguished achievements are a model of excellence for all government centres to meet. His Royal Highness expressed his gratitude to the evaluation committee for its work, noting the Kingdom's broader strategy to foster innovation and efficiency across government workstreams, including through new policies and updated evaluation frameworks. According to several outcome indicators, 88% of government service centres met the excellence criteria in the fifth edition of "Taqyeem", while 56 out of 64 government entities achieved 90% of the excellence criteria. This achievement reflects the effectiveness of the evaluation criteria and its role in promoting ongoing improvement. Since the programme's launch, 58 service centers that did not meet the required standards have been closed or merged as part of a national effort to enhance service delivery efficiency and performance across the public sector. This was done after ensuring that services continue to be provided with the required quality, excellence, and efficiency to citizens, residents, and visitors through other government centers. For their part, the ministers and officials in charge of the awarded government service centres expressed their thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for honouring them with this recognition. They emphasised that the award constitutes a badge of honour and an incentive to continue striving for excellence in serving Bahrain's citizens and residents. His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and a number of senior officials attended the ceremony.
