Kinetic DX launched in India at ₹ 1.12 lakh, promises 116 km of range The Kinetic DX has been launched in India, starting at ₹1.12 lakh (ex-showroom). The pricing goes up to ₹1.18 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks the comeback for the DX nameplate in the Kinetic lineup. The scooter is available in two variants - DX and DX+. Kinetic is offering three years or 30,000 km of standard warranty for the DX, while customers can opt for an extended warranty of nine years or one lakh km. It is available in five different colour choices - White, Blue, Black, Silver and Red. Bookings for the electric scooter are open from July 28. The OEM has said that interested consumers can book the EV at a token amount of ₹1,000. Also, deliveries will be restricted to 40,000 units, and deliveries will commence in October 2025. Chinese car manufacturer BYD, which has already made its space in the Indian electric passenger vehicle market, is forging ahead with its attempts to expand in the country despite roadblocks from the government that are preventing the EV major from conducting key business dealings here. India's booming technology sector and the young, tech-savvy population are making the country a pivotal market for global semiconductor giant MediaTek, according to company's India MD Anku Jain. India's strong economic growth and favourable demographics are driving rapid adoption of advanced technologies like 5G, smart devices, and AI-powered solutions, he said. "India is a very important market for MediaTek because it is a very huge consumption story,we can see the demographics -- which is a very young population, we can see our economy growing very fast. All these components are making the market very attractive for us," Jain told PTI. Beyond smartphones, MediaTek's chipsets power many devices, including smart TVs, tablets, chromebooks, routers, and the smart home segment. Jain noted that the company is now expanding into new verticals such as automotive, recently partnering with JioThings to develop 4G smart clusters for the two-wheeler EV segment, and supplying infotainment systems for cars like Skoda Slavia and Tata Punch EV. The company is also exploring opportunities in satellite communications, with its chipsets poised to support evolving requirements as India's satellite and IoT ecosystem grows. As per Counterpoint Research, as of April 2025, MediaTek led India's smartphone chipset market with a 45 per cent share, followed by Qualcomm at 32 per cent. The company established its first R&D centre in India in 2004 and now employs over 1,000 engineers across its Bengaluru and Noida offices. The Taiwanese firm on Friday launched the MediaTek Dimensity 8450, a 5G smartphone chip with eight Arm Cortex-A725 cores and an Arm Mali-G720 MC7 GPU. Jain outlined MediaTek's commitment to further investment in the Indian market and continued expansion of its engineering teams. The company views its Indian R&D centres as extensions of its global operations, enabling it to address multiple technology verticals from within the country. "In the near future, we'll have the number of engineers keep increasing with time because we are coming up with new innovations and the talent pool in India, the engineering strength in India is very, very good for us," he said.

Tata Punch EV facelift in the works; likely to get a larger battery pack and more features

Tata Motors has been enjoying the leadership position in the Indian electric passenger vehicle market. The homegrown automaker sells some of the bestselling models in the segment, which include the Punch EV. The Tata Punch EV became the bestselling electric car in the country last year. Now, to ramp up its appeal, Tata Motors is working on a facelift iteration of the SUV. The Tata Punch EV facelift is expected to come packing a larger battery pack, which will promise a longer range on a full charge. Besides that, the updated Tata Punch EV would also get a revamped exterior and interior. The interior is likely to sport a host of new features in order to boost its appeal to consumers. The Tata Punch EV was launched in India in early 2024. It was introduced at a starting price of ₹ 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in two battery pack options, which are 25 kWh and 35 kWh. The electric SUV comes promising a maximum range of 421 kilometres on a single charge. The EV is now expected to receive the brand's innovative technology, modern features and improved battery and charging technology. The upgraded Tata Punch EV could come sharing the same battery pack as the Tata Nexon EV, which sits above the Punch EV in the brand's product portfolio. Some of the technologies introduced in the newly launched Tata Harrier EV, too, are expected to be available in the Punch EV facelift, which would include (Tata Intelligence Digital Architecture Layer), digital key, DrivePay, and an ADAS suite. In terms of equipment inside the cabin, expect it to come packing a larger touchscreen infotainment screen, premium speaker setup with more sound modes and Dolby Atmos, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitor, powered front seats, and new seat upholstery.

Tata Motors' electric vehicle arm, has introduced offers of up to ₹1.86 lakh on its lineup of EVs, including the Tata Curvv EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, and Tiago EV. The offer has been made under a celebration campaign for crossing 2 lakh sales of EVs. Under the program the automaker is providing exchange benefits of ₹50,000, including a complimentary home charger with installation. Also included is six months of free charging. With the offering, the Tata Curvv EV is being retailed with incentives of up to ₹1.71 lakh. The Curvv EV is the newest addition to the family and came out in September 2024. The Tata Curvv EV starts at ₹17.49 lakh, reaching ₹22.24 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Dark Edition variant. The Curvv EV is derived from the company's platform that also supports the new Punch EV. The SUV gets two battery pack sizes - 45 kWh and 55 kWh. The former ensures a range of 502 km, whereas the latter provides a range of 585 km on one charge. The 45 kWh also comes with a less capacity motor producing 110 kW (147 bhp), but the 55 kWh model produces 123 kW (165 bhp). The two motors produce 215 Nm of peak torque. The Tata Nexon EV, on the other hand, is being sold with advantages worth up to ₹1.41 lakh. The Nexon EV is one of the top-selling electric cars in India. It comes with a pair of battery pack options - 45 kWh and a 30 kWh battery pack. Tata Motors claims that the Nexon EV with the 45 kWh battery pack, has a range of as much as 489 kilometres on a full point Tata Motors makes about the Nexon EV 45 is that it can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 40 minutes using a 60 kW fast charger. It can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 56 minutes. The Nexon EV is priced at ₹12.49 lakh and ₹17.19 lakh, ex-showroom for the Red Dark Edition. The Tata Punch EV is availing benefits up to ₹1.20 lakh. The Tata Punch EV is available between ₹9.99 lakh and ₹14.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata Punch EV comes with a 25 kWh battery pack and 35 kWh battery pack. The 25 kWh battery pack variant of the EV produces 80 bhp maximum power and 114 Nm of maximum torque. The Long Range variant of Punch EV comes with a more enhanced motor which delivers 120 bhp peak power and a maximum torque of 190 Nm. The Punch EV boasts up to 365 kilometre range per charge. The Tata Tiago EV is one of the affordable EVs in the nation right now and the electric hatchback is availing benefits of up to ₹1.30 lakh. Recently updated Tata Tiago EV is available between ₹7.99 lakh and ₹11.14 lakh (ex-showroom). The XE MR and XT MR variants are available at ₹7.99 lakh and ₹8.99 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The electric hatchback features a 19.2 kWh battery pack that delivers up to 315 km range on full charge.
