In an update on Saturday, July 12, Strait's team is asking everyone to be patient because they have received an overwhelming amount of interest.
"Thank you for your interest in attending and supporting this event. We've received a high volume of interest and appreciate your patience as we thoughtfully work through replies in the order in which they were received. - Team GS," the update event features not only Strait, himself a Texas native and current resident, but also fellow country artists William Beckmann, Ray Benson, Wade Bowen, Dean Dillon, Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Kyle Park and Hudson Westbrook.
The aim of the event is to provide immediate help to those affected.
Strait wrote in the press release about the concert, "The destruction and loss in our community from the recent floods is hard to wrap your head around. Our hearts and prayers are with you all. The goal with this event is to raise meaningful, immediate support that can be put directly into the hands of flood victims without delay, while also honoring the first responders that work tirelessly to save lives."
He also thanked the other musicians and his Ace in the Hole band "for joining me on stage to lend their talent and their hearts to this mission."
Strait's business partner Tom Cusick added in a statement, "The road ahead will be a long one. However, the immediate need is so great that we didn't want to wait. Together, we can show our neighbors that when hardship strikes, Texas and our country stand strong, and we stand together."
Donations will be collected and distributed by 501c3 Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund, directly benefiting those affected by the flood.
