House of the Dragon Season 3: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on May 26, 2025, 20:12 IST The Targaryen dynasty continues to captivate audiences with HBO's House of the Dragon , the epic prequel to Game of Thrones . After a thrilling yet divisive Season 2, fans are eagerly awaiting Season 3 to see how the Dance of the Dragons unfolds. From release date predictions to cast members and anticipated plot points, here's everything we know so far about House of the Dragon Season 3. House of the Dragon Season 3 Release Date Speculation While HBO has not announced an official release date for House of the Dragon Season 3, production timelines provide clues for speculation. Filming began in March 2025 at Leavesden Studios, Watford, and is expected to continue through October 2025. Given the production schedule for Season 2, which filmed from April to September 2023 and premiered in June 2024 (a nine-month post-production period), a similar timeline suggests a potential premiere in mid-2026, likely between April and August 2026. House of the Dragon Season 3 Expected Cast The cast of House of the Dragon Season 3 will feature familiar faces alongside exciting new additions, reflecting the escalating Targaryen civil war. Based on the Season 2 finale and casting announcements, here's who we expect to see: Emma D'Arcy as Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen Olivia Cooke as Queen Alicent Hightower Rhys Ifans as Ser Otto Hightower Tom Glynn-Carney as King Aegon II Targaryen Ewan Mitchell as Prince Aemond Targaryen Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole Other Returning Actors: Expect Phia Saban (Helaena Targaryen), Harry Collett (Jacaerys Velaryon), Bethany Antonia (Baela Targaryen), and Phoebe Campbell (Rhaena Targaryen) to reprise their roles, as their characters survived Season 2. House of the Dragon Season 3 Potential Plot Details House of the Dragon Season 3 will dive deeper into the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war chronicled in Fire & Blood . The Season 2 finale set the stage for major conflicts, and showrunner Ryan Condal has promised a 'total war' with significant action. Here are the key plot points to anticipate: The Battle of the Gullet The most anticipated event is the Battle of the Gullet, a massive naval assault described as one of the bloodiest in Westerosi history. Condal confirmed it will be a centerpiece of Season 3, requiring substantial production resources to deliver a spectacle that satisfies fans. The battle pits Team Black's fleet, led by Corlys Velaryon, against Team Green's navy, commanded by Ser Tyland Lannister (Jefferson Hall) and Sharako Lohar (Abigail Thorn). Expect dragon-on-dragon action and heavy casualties. Rhaenyra vs. Alicent: A Fragile Truce The Season 2 finale saw Rhaenyra and Alicent reach a tentative agreement, but their longstanding rivalry will continue to drive the narrative. Their complex dynamic—once friends, now enemies—will be tested as the war escalates. Condal has hinted at exploring their relationship further, potentially with shared scenes between Rhaenyra and Aegon II, as suggested by actor Tom Glynn-Carney. Tributes paid to two riders killed in motorcycle race

Tributes have been paid to the two motorcycle riders who were killed in a crash during a British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park on Monday. Father-of-two Shane Richardson from New Zealand and 21-year-old British rider Owen Jenner were both fatally injured in an 11-bike crash on the first lap of the race. Another rider, Tom Tunstall, 47, is in the Royal Stoke University Hospital with significant back and abdominal injuries, while five other riders suffered minor injuries. ADVERTISEMENT Advertisement Jenner, from Crowborough in East Sussex, began his racing career in Junior Motorcross. He then progressed to the tarmac, winning the 2018 Team Green, 2020 Junior Supersport and 2023 Junior Superstock titles. He joined the Kramer Team for the 2024 British GP2 season, winning the title with 18 wins out of 20 race finishes. Jenner signed for Rapid Honda in November 2024 and in announcing his death, the team said it felt "sadness beyond words". A statement added: "Our deepest condolences go out to the families, friends, and teams of Owen during this unimaginably difficult time, and to those of Shane Richardson, who also sadly lost his life. ADVERTISEMENT Advertisement "Our thoughts are also with Tom Tunstall and his family, as he continues to receive medical care. "Losing two talented riders is a huge loss to the entire motorsport community." Team Green Racing, said: "We are devastated to hear of the sad passing of Owen Jenner. Truly one of the great characters of the paddock and an incredibly talented racer." Richardson grew up in the town of Lower Hutt, just north of Wellington on New Zealand's north Island, before moving to the UK. He has been a joiner since the age of 16 and ran a joinery business alongside his racing career. He began racing in 2013 and within four years was competing at international events such as the MotoAmerica championship in the United States. Fellow New Zealand rider Morgan McLaren-Wood, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, paid tribute to Richardson on social media. "Struggling to find the words for what happened," he said. "Rest in peace Shane and Owen. My heart goes out to both of their families during this heartbreaking time." New Zealand Hutt City councillor Brady Dyer posted on Facebook: "Shane was proud to be from Wainuiomata and was admired both locally and abroad for his skill and passion. "This is a heartbreaking loss, and I know many in our community will be feeling it deeply." ADVERTISEMENT Advertisement Fellow New Zealand rider Cormac Buchanan said Shane was "truly one of the best people I ever had the privilege of sharing the track with". Writing on Instagram, Buchanan said: "You never failed to put a smile on all of our faces. You were someone I could look up to and learn from and I am so lucky to have had your guidance in my first year in the UK. "I cherish all of the track walks with you and Damo, the hard battles we had, bumping bars and swapping paint. I'm grateful to have been able to consider you a competitor, rival, and a friend. I always felt your support no matter what the situation, race, or outcome was".

Nvidia rumored to deliver RTX 5080 Super and 5070 Super GPUs in 2025 — but it's all about pricing

(Image credit: Future) Nvidia may not be finished with delivering RTX 50-series GPUs after all, aside from the upcoming RTX 5060, as a new rumor suggests Team Green may have Super models coming down the pipeline. We may see RTX 5080 Super and RTX 5070 Super GPUs coming as soon as this year, with 24GB and 18GB of GDDR7 VRAM, respectively. Plus, these new variants could deliver somewhere between 7% to 15% performance boosts compared to their RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 counterparts. This comes from known leaker Moore's Law is Dead (via Techradar), with a source from a GPU partner claiming the cards have been in testing since last year. Nvidia has put the Super models "on hold," but the source now states that its "likely" we'll see upgraded RTX 5080 and 5070 graphics cards in 2025. You may like Compared to their base models, with the RTX 5080 coming with 16GB VRAM and RTX 5070 with 12GB VRAM, the Super variants would offer major boosts in video memory, leading to handling more demanding PC games far better. If accurate, the RTX 5080 Super would have the same 24GB of VRAM as an RTX 5090 laptop GPU (the desktop GPU comes with 32GB). Of course, as the leaker claims, none of these plans are set in stone, as these are only rumors for now. That said, an RTX 5080 Super with 24GB of video memory has been tipped since last year. It wouldn't be a complete surprise if Nvidia does bring out RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Super variants, as we've seen in the previous RTX 40-series era of GPUs. Offering higher video memory and CUDA cores, these GPUs are great options for those wanting better performance potential but not wanting to pay a higher price for next GPU-level up. Pricing is a key factor (Image credit: Tom's Guide) One key factor that may throw off RTX 5080 and 5070 Supers arriving at all: price. As per the rumor, Nvidia stated the cards will be on hold until they sort out the pricing for the increased VRAM. With 24GB and 16GB of VRAM, these GPUs are sure to come with an increased price — possibly up to 20%, according to the leaker. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. In case you missed it, if you're trying to find an RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti or RTX 5070 right now at Nvidia's official asking price, it's not an easy task. If the Super models also fall prey to sky-high costs, then Nvidia may have a hard time getting these off shelves. An increase in VRAM is always wanted, as the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB of video memory has shown us (not many are going for the 8GB model, understandably). However, the price has to be worth added bonus, and considering how high third-party RTX 50-series GPUs are, Nvidia may shy away from bringing these out. Oh, and tariffs don't make the situation any better. There is some good news, as the source believe Nvidia is looking at keeping the MSRP of the Super models the same as the RTX 5080 ($999) and RTX 5070 ($549) prices. So, more power for the same price. While unlikely, it would be great to see. There's no official word on any RTX 5080 Super and RTX 5070 Super GPUs yet, to take this in with a pinch of salt. Still, seeing upgraded RTX 50-series GPUs down the line means more PC gamers will have a chance of nabbing one of Nvidia's latest graphics cards with even better performance. Speaking of, find out how Nvidia's DLSS is a game-changer for PC gaming. More from Tom's Guide

‘House of the Dragon' Season 3 Starts Filming, Adds New Cast

Production has begun on Season 3 of 'House of the Dragon.' Additionally, the HBO juggernaut has added two new cast members to the upcoming season. Tommy Flanagan will play Ser Roderick Dustin, and Dan Fogler will play Ser Torrhen Manderly. Previously, it was announced that James Norton will play Ormund Hightower, a new addition this season. They will join returning cast members Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin and Abubakar Salim. Season 3, which will consist of eight episodes, picks up in the lead-up to the Battle of the Gullet, which was not included in the sophomore installment to the dismay of some fans. The Season 2 finale sees Alicent (Cooke) make a plea for peace with Rhaenyra (D'Arcy), with the pair agreeing Rhaenyra will arrive to King's Landing in three days to peacefully take the throne — with the understanding that she will have to execute Alicent's son, Aegon, in order to claim her power. Meanwhile, Aegon has fled King's Landing with Larys on Larys' advice to avoid bloodshed and return to restore peace after the war is over. Season 3 will mark the penultimate installment for 'House of the Dragon,' after showrunner Ryan Condal announced in August that 'Game of Thrones' prequel series would run for four seasons at HBO. He added the third season will see the war between Team Black and Team Green come to a 'big head,' and promised both 'giant moments of spectacle' as well as 'real moments of surprise and character nuance.' 'If Season 2 was the arming of the sides and the Cold War with moments of actual conflict and explosion, I think [in] Season 3, you do start to see things boil over from here to the kind of the end of the war,' Condal said. Condal returns as co-creator, showrunner and executive producer for Season 3 alongside executive producers George R.R. Martin, who also serves as a co-creator, as well as Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock and Philippa Goslett. Clare Kilner, Nina Lopez-Corrado, Andrij Parekh and Loni Peristere will direct episodes for the third season. 'I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to win' Deep betrayal, epic battle as the race tightens in Saskatoon

Welcome to Saskatoon, the land of the living skies. But for one team, this will be their last stop. What went down on Episode 4 of Canada's Ultimate Challenge, Season 3 First, an update. "Now, it's our time to shine," said Team Green's Steph, back and ready for action after her collapse in Episode 3. The remaining three teams gathered at the Traffic Bridge in Saskatoon, where Brandon revealed the next challenge, The Ultimate Bridge Mindbender. Two members from each team had to climb the 30-foot bridge and navigate a ring through 300 metres of tangled rope. Once the ring was navigated along both arches, a member on the ground had to untie another 50 twisted knots before ringing the buzzer. The teams got to pick which members climbed to the top and which stayed on the ground. When Team Green captain Gabe told her she was going up, Veronica did not feel it. "I never climb bridges," she said, "Gabriel's a firefighter, okay? So this is perfect for him. Like this is his opportunity to shine." When the horn rang, Keenan and Mark from Team Red secured a huge lead over the others. Moving that ring along the rope was harder than it looked and climbers had to communicate with their team on the ground! Team Yellow's Steve and Kelly struggled at first, with Green and Blue fighting for 3rd and 4th place. After navigating one arch, it was time to hand the ring off. Mark and Keenan (Team Red) passed it onto Santina and Mariam, while Steve and Kelly (Team Yellow) handed their ring over to Eddie and Ene. Meanwhile, things got a little chaotic for Team Green. "Are you (bleep)ing kidding me? My brain is not computing what's happening right now," said Veronica as she struggled at the top of the bridge. "At this moment, I knew I made a mistake," remembered Gabe, "there's no chance that we can win this." Eddie and Ene chipped away at Team Red's lead in a stunning upset and placed first. Of course, this meant they had to decide who would be going up against Team Green in the elimination challenge. It was a stressful evening for Team Blue and Team Red as both tried to convince Yellow to save them (more on this below). When a new day dawned, Eddie, captain of Team Yellow revealed a shocking decision. They were putting up former allies, Team Red, into the elimination round. That's when Keenan made a threat: "We're going to dominate this challenge. I'm going to win out the next region and we're going to send your ass packing." Game ON. At Saskatoon's Goodale Farm, teams got a chance to size up the challenge. Two players from each team had to hang off a huge tractor to pull up 30 heavy bales of hay. The two ground members had to transport those bales through water and mud to create a colossal hay staircase. The first team up the stairs to ring the bell won. Both teams choose female members on the tractor leaving the boys to start hauling hay bales through the mud. "This is do or die. If we don't pull out the W today, we're going home," said Veronica. Team Green got off to a shaky start when Steph fell off the tractor, which meant another trip around the track before they could grab more bales. But with sheer grit and determination, Green battled it out in a neck-and-neck race to the bitter end. Teams Yellow and Blue cheered them from the sidelines. "If Team Red wins, there's no doubt that they're gonna want revenge against Team Yellow," said Kelly, "so I do want Green to win this." Double-crossing Team Red noticed that nobody was cheering for them as they eked out a victory that sent Green packing. Moment that changed the game Team Red's Keenan had been playing fast and loose with his deal-making, brokering alliances with Teams Yellow, Orange and Blue. It was bound to come out sooner or later (thanks, Gracia!). In Saskatchewan, Keenan's treachery finally came back to haunt the team. Eddie asked, "Do you guys have any alliances with anyone else?" And Keenan told a bald-faced lie: "As far as aligning with people and saying, 'hey, we want to go to the end with you,' we never said that with anybody." Surprising no one, Team Yellow put Red into the elimination challenge. "We all want Red to go. It's their punishment for lying to us and if you have a chance to get rid of one of the top teams, you're gonna do it," said Eddie. It was a good strategy, except it didn't work. Best line of the episode A threat (and perhaps an award for surfacing one of the most classic reality show chestnuts): " Going forward, I have my own back. I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to win a (bleep)ing competition." Santina said this when it became obvious that Team Red had no friends left in the game as the other teams cheered for Team Green during the elimination challenge. Do these four powerhouse players have what it takes to bring a victory home on their own? MVP(s) of Episode 3: Eddie (and Ene) from Team Yellow On the bridge, Eddie and Ene were facing Team Red who already had a substantial lead on them. But Eddie was determined to win the region: "Growing up, me and my friends were little hooligans. So, I've done a lot of things on bridges." Calm under pressure, watching Eddie and Ene work together was a master class in communication. "I'm not going to let Team Red beat us in another race," said Ene. Neck and neck with Team Red, it was an all-out battle. Team Yellow won.
