SQUASH PSA Squash World Championships: Indian challenge ends in second round Indian challenge at the PSA Squash World Championships in Chicago ended in the second round on Sunday. World No. 62 Anahat Singh, the only Indian in the women's draw, went down 1-3 (7-11, 11-8, 4-11, 3-11) to World No. 15 Fayrouz Aboelkheir of Egypt in 28 minutes. In the men's field, top-ranked Indian Ramit Tandon fought hard before his defeat to England's Marwan Elshorbagy. World No. 38 Abhay Singh lost 0-3 (11-6, 11-6, 11-9) in half an hour to World No. 13 Youssef Ibrahim of Egypt. -Team Sportstar ATHLETICS UAE Athletics Women's Gala: Ancy wins silver, Shaili takes bronze in long jump Indian long jumpers Ancy Sojan and Shaili Singh both finished on the podium at the UAE Athletics Women's Gala at the Dubai Police Club Stadium on Sunday. Asian Games silver medallist Ancy finished second with a season's best effort of 6.54m. Shaili Singh came third with a jump of 6.48m. Egypt's champion Esraa Owis won gold with a distance of 6.66m. For the Indians, it was a reversal of Friday's UAE Athletics Grand Prix where Shaili had won silver while Ancy had picked the bronze. Karishma Sanil's won the women's javelin throw gold with 53.33m effort. The event had only two other competitors - UAE's Aliazya Tarek (31.04m) and Harshita Sehrawat (16.77m). Moumita Mondal (24.61s) clinched silver in the 200m race behind Tamzin Thomas (24.15s) of South Africa. Niharika Vashisht, with a new personal best effort of 13.58m, finished third in women's triple jump. - Team Sportstar TENNIS Italian Open: Bhambri-Galloway pair knocked out in first round Yuki Bhambri and his American partner Robert Galloway were knocked out of the Italian Open in the first round on Sunday. The only Indian in the field this week, Ahlawat was coming back after a gap of almost six weeks. He had two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in his two-over 73 and was six-over as the cut fell at one-under. Ahlawat's next event is likely to be the Soudal Open, where he is on the waiting list. Shubhankar Sharma will return to action at the Belgium event. - PTI India's Saptak Talwar on tied 11th in Spain India's Saptak Talwar produced a bogey-free second round of five-under 66 to knock on the doors of top 10 at the Challenge de Espana at Fontanals Golf Club on the Hotel Planner Tour here. Talwar, whose first round was two-under 69, is now seven-under 135 and tied-11th. He is four shots behind the leaders Oliver Gillberg (65-66) and Luis Masaveu (64-67) at 11-under. The 26-year-old Talwar, who had his breakthrough win on the Indian Tour last month, was also the runner-up in another event on his home Tour. On the Hotel Planner, the second level Tour to DP World Tour, Talwar has four cuts in five starts and he had also made the cut in the Hero Indian Open. Talwar had two sets of back-to-back birdies on the third and the fourth and again on the eighth and the ninth. A fifth birdie on the tenth brought him to five-under but he then ran out of birdies but did not drop any shots either. - PTI Diksha, Pranavi Tied-32nd in Aramco Korea Championship Indian golfers Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Urs faced contrasting fortunes, but both ended at Tied-32nd after two rounds at the Aramco Korea Championship in Seoul on Saturday. While Diksha rallied from a disappointing front nine of three-over, Pranavi dropped three shots on her second nine, which was the front side of the course. Diksha carded two-over 74 and Pranavi was three-over 75 and both are now three-over 147 for two rounds at the New Korea Country Club. Meanwhile, Avani Prashanth (79-73) despite a good second round failed to make the cut and also missing out was Tvesa Malik (79-76). In the team event, Team Diksha was seventh and Team Pranavi, which included Avani, was T-11. Tvesa Malik, part of Team Pia Babnik, was T-24. Diksha had three bogeys on the front nine, but she recovered well on the back nine with one eight pars and one birdie for a two-over card. Pranavi was even par for the back nine after starting from the 10th, but she gave away three bogeys on her second nine, which was the front side of the course. - PTI

BOXING Seven Indians reach U-17 finals at Asian U-15 & U-17 Boxing Championships Six women were among the seven Indian boxers who booked their place in the U-17 finals as India continued its strong showing at the Asian U-15 & U-17 Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan. India now has 21 boxers, across the U-15 and U-17 categories, who will fight for the gold medal. The U-17 women boxers delivered a dominant display, and were led by Ahaana Sharma (50 kg), who stormed into the final with a first-round knockout victory over Kyrgyzstan's Akmaral Amantaieva. Khushi Chand (44–46 kg) edged Ukraine's Oleksandra Cherevata 3-2, while Jannat (54 kg), Simranjeet Kaur (60 kg), Harsika (63 kg), and Anshika (80+ kg) also registered commanding wins to confirm their spot in the final bouts. In the men's U-17 section, Devansh (80 kg) put on a composed performance to defeat Vietnam's Nguyen Trong Tien 4-1 and secure his place in the final.
