'More Concerned About Miss World Than...': BJP Slams Revanth Reddy Over Op Sindoor Remarks
Last Updated: Telangana BJP slammed Reddy for prioritising photo-ops and media attention over national solidarity after the latter's remarks on Operation Sindoor and PM Modi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his recent comments on Operation Sindoor and his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Telangana BJP spokesperson and media in-charge NV Subash accused Revanth Reddy of prioritising photo-ops and media attention over effective governance. He also slammed Reddy's conduct as 'bizarre and irresponsible," calling it unfit for a state leader. 'Is he living in a fantasy? Even a national daily that once published such claims had to retract them after the Defence Ministry clarified the facts. Yet, the CM chooses to repeat these lies, presumably to curry favour with his party high command – Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi – thanks to whom he parachuted into the CM's chair," Subash said on Reddy's recent remarks. Subash also pointed out that Reddy's remarks criticising India's Operation Sindoor appeared to be echoing the propaganda perpetuated by Pakistan. 'Even a staunch BJP critic like AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi has no hesitation in calling out Pakistan's duplicity," he said. 'More Concerned About Miss World' Subash further said that the CM appeared more concerned about 'appearing alongside Miss World on tomorrow's front pages" rather than expressing solidarity with the country amid heightened tensions with Pakistan. This was in reference to Telangana hosting the Miss World competition, one of the biggest international beauty pageants, whose finale will be broadcast tonight. The competition began amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan soon after India's retaliatory 'Operation Sindoor' against Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, amid calls from the opposition to postpone it. The BJP spokesperson urged Reddy to 'exercise restraint and responsibility" in public discourse and also mocked him for suggesting Rahul Gandhi as the country's next Prime Minister. 'Even his party members would laugh at that suggestion." What Did Revanth Reddy Say? Telangana CM Revanth Reddy made headlines for questioning the ceasefire between India and Pakistan and objected to calling off the 'war' by the Modi government at the behest of US President Donald Trump's orders. Reddy questioned why a ceasefire was called without consulting all parties. While addressing the Congress' 'Jai Hind Yatra' in Hyderabad, Reddy said, 'Modi is expired rupee, Modi is like a 1000 rupees' invalid note. Today, this country needs Rahul Gandhi's leadership." He also demanded an explanation for how many Rafale jets were downed by Pakistan. 'If a leader like Rahul Gandhi would have been Prime Minister of this country, then he would have taken (former PM) Indira Gandhi as inspiration and would have walked in Kaali's (Maata) way and would have made Pakistan into two parts and would have taken PoK back," he added. Reddy reiterated that the Congress and the Gandhi family have a history of sacrificing their lives for the country. He urged the party leaders and workers to strive hard and not relax until Rahul Gandhi became Prime Minister. Also addressing a press briefing at the party headquarters on Friday, BJP MP Sambit Patra said, ' Yeh jo Pakistan ke Babbar hain, woh Hindustan ke Gabbar hain '. Patra also questioned Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy and Jairam Ramesh over not asking Pakistan regarding how many of their airbases were destroyed or terrorists were killed. Months after arrest in Pushpa 2 stampede case, Allu Arjun given Gaddar award by Revanth govt
The award for Arjun comes months after he was arrested and jailed, though briefly, with Telangana police blaming him, among others, for the stampede on 4 December at the film's premier at Sandhya theatre here. The first 'Best Leading Actor' award, set to be formally presented to Arjun at a later date, is for the actor's performance in the blockbuster sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule , which grossed an estimated Rs 1,800 crore in global box-office collections. Hyderabad: Telugu superstar of Pushpa fame Allu Arjun has been announced as the best actor for 2024 by the Revanth Reddy government as part of its Gaddar Telangana Film Awards. The arrest was made on 13 December, amid uproar over the death of a 39-year-old woman M. Revathi in the stampede and her 9-year-old son suffering serious injuries. Revathi's family of four went to watch the Pushpa-2 premiere show at the famous Sandhya theatre which Arjun also visited to cheer his fans on eve of the release. The police action took a political turn as the opposition BRS and BJP condemned 'the arrest of a national award winner', especially the manner in which it was carried out. Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs and Telangana BJP leader Bandi Sanjay had in a post on X at the time said, '…national award-winning actor Allu Arjun, lifted straight from his bedroom without even being given time to change, is a disgraceful act of mismanagement and disrespect.' 'A star of his stature, who brought global recognition to Indian cinema, deserved better treatment,' Bandi said, while faulting the state government for its 'inability to ensure proper arrangements for a high-profile event'. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao had said the 'arrest of National Award-winning star Allu Arjun is the pinnacle of insecurity of the rulers!' 'I totally sympathize with the victims of the stampede but who failed really? Treating Allu Arjun garu as a common criminal is uncalled for especially for something he isn't directly responsible for. There is always space for respect & dignified conduct.' former state minister KTR said at the time, while also 'condemning the high-handed behaviour' of the Revanth-led government. Social media users, including many of Arjun's 8.6 million followers on X, strongly reacted to his arrest, some expressing anger at Revanth Reddy. A local court sent Arjun to 14-day custody in connection with the stampede case but the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail later that same day. However, despite his family's expectations and legal team's efforts, Arjun had to spend the night of 13 December at the Chanchalguda prison on account of procedural reasons and was released the next morning. His supporters took umbrage at this too. Arjun was booked under BNS sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118 (1) (causing hurt). His alleged unannounced appearance at the Pushpa 2 premier show, police claim, triggered a frenzy among his fans present in large numbers there, causing a stampede in which the deceased woman's family, which came to watch the show, was caught. The theatre owner and manager too had been arrested earlier. The actor, expressing regret over the tragic loss of life, had first announced a Rs 25 lakh compensation for the family, which he later revised to Rs 1 crore. Separately, Pushpa 2 producers Mythri Movies and director B. Sukumar offered Rs 50 lakh each to the grieving family. In January, Arjun also visited the boy Sritej, under treatment at a corporate hospital. On Thursday, soon after the award was announced by the jury committee headed by veteran actor Jayasudha, Arjun took to X to express his gratitude. 'Heartfelt thanks to the Government of Telangana for this prestigious honour. All credit goes to my director Sukumar garu, my producers, and the entire Pushpa team. I dedicate this award to all my fans; your unwavering support continues to inspire me,' he wrote. I am truly honoured to receive the first Best Actor award for #Pushpa2 at the #GaddarTelanganaFilmAwards 2024. Heartfelt thanks to the Government of Telangana for this prestigious honour . All credit goes to my director Sukumar garu, my producers, and the entire Pushpa team. I… — Allu Arjun (@alluarjun) May 29, 2025 In 2023, Arjun scripted history, when he became the first Telugu actor to receive the national award for best actor, for Pushpa 1: The Rise. Soon after coming to power, the Revanth government in Telangana announced the reinstitution of the Telugu films-theatre awards in the name of late Gummadi Vittal Rao, popularly known as Balladeer Gaddar. The awards are similar to the Nandi awards for Telugu films and drama that were discontinued by BRS after the formation of Telangana. Terrorists and their masters in Pak paid a heavy price, says Kishan Reddy
Hyderabad: G Kishan Reddy, Operation Sindoor, Terrorism in India, Mann Ki Baat, BJP Telangana, Modi government The government led by Prime Minister Modi has now put an end to the policy of paying homage with roses and lighting candles when the people of the country lose their lives in terrorist attacks and has shown them (Pakistan terrorists) that if they attack, they will have to pay a heavy price for it, said Union Minister for Coal and Mines and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy. Speaking after watching Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 122nd episode of Mann Ki Baat along with people, BJP leaders and workers in the Sanatnagar constituency on Sunday, he urged everyone to watch the programme and appealed to put into practice important issues like cleanliness, yoga and diabetes that the Prime Minister spoke about. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' is meant to awaken people, unite them and create a healthy society. Union Minister Kishan Reddy urged everyone to follow the suggestions and advice given by the Prime Minister on the key issues relating to health for building a healthy nation. Regarding Operation Sindoor, Kishan Reddy said that it is a strong message by India to Pakistan which has been spreading terrorism against India for the last 46 years with many attacks like the ones at Lumbini Park, Gokul Chat, Sai Baba Temple, Dil Sukh Nagar blasts, Mumbai train attacks, Parliament attacks and many others. He said 'During these attacks, people used to pay homage and make peace. But after the Modi government came to power, he gave a strong message that terrorism and the country that nurtures terrorism will be taught a lesson – through the Pathankot – surgical strike, Pulwama – air strike, Pahalgam – Operation Sindoor.' He said that it is at such times that the entire country needs to stand united, putting aside parties, castes, religions, communities and colours. Operation Sindoor had destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistani territory. He said that the role of Indian soldiers was crucial in this. The Union Minister said that it is sad that a soldier from Visakhapatnam also lost his life in this operation. He said that there is a great need for everyone to participate in the Tiranga Yatras and rallies being organised at such times and show the unity of the country. The State BJP chief pointed out that the Pahalgam attack exposed the brutality of the terror outfits and their masters in Pakistan. He said, 'A father was killed in front of his children and a husband in front of his wife. Besides, Hindus were identified and killed and the kin of the victims were asked to go and tell Modi.' He said that India has given a strong response to their attacks through Operation Sindoor. 'From now on, every terrorist attack that takes place in India will be responded to and Pakistan will be shown its place,' he informed.

Congress govt. pressuring banks for loans: BJP
Former MLA and Telangana BJP vice president N.V.S.S. Prabhakar has accused the Congress government of pressuring the banks to issue loans by mortgaging contentious public lands. Mr. Prabhakar, who met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Tuesday, told mediapersons later that the financial condition in the State has gone from bad to worse with the State government in no position to take further loans since it had exceeded Fiscal Responsibility & Budget Management (FRBM) limits. The Finance Minister was told about Telangana's fiscal situation and how the State government here has been not releasing matching grants though it keeps on complaining about the Centre not releasing funds under various schemes, he said. The BJP leader alleged that the Congress government has been cheating people by not implementing various Central government schemes and wanted action to be taken for the same. The government here was only dependent on sale of land or liquor for revenue generation, said a press release.

V Hanumanth Rao hits back at Kishan Reddy for
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 20 (ANI): Congress leader V Hanumanth Rao on Tuesday hit out at Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy over the latter's social media remarks accusing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of working against national interest. Responding to Reddy's post on X, Rao said it was 'really unfortunate' that such a statement was made about the Gandhi family, which has 'sacrificed for the nation.' 'Kishan Reddy, being both the Telangana BJP President and a Union Minister, has posted on social media that Rahul Gandhi is working against national interest. This is truly unfortunate. He seems to have forgotten the sacrifices made by the Gandhi family for the nation. Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi -- they always prioritised the country, even at the cost of their lives,' Rao said. He further said Reddy was playing 'cheap politics' in the name of Operation Sindoor and questioned the BJP's motives. 'Kishan Reddy, you are well aware of the all-party meeting held after the Pahalgam incident, where innocent people were killed. Despite political differences and opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every party -- including Mamata Banerjee's -- came together and wholeheartedly supported the government once Operation Sindoor was launched,' he said. Defending Rahul Gandhi's statements, Rao added, 'Now Rahul Gandhi is simply asking how many aircraft were damaged. Is that wrong? Instead, you're playing cheap politics. Militant activities are increasing day by day, and instead of focusing on that, you are trying to politicise the issue.' He also accused the BJP of manipulating the delegation process. 'A delegation is being sent, and the names were not even suggested by the Congress party. Yet, you are handpicking members and politicising the process in the name of Operation Sindoor. This is nothing but cheap politics,' Rao said. Earlier, in a strongly worded post, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy had accused Rahul Gandhi of spreading 'Pakistan's falsehoods' and demoralising the armed forces. 'While the entire nation is united in saluting our soldiers for the success of Operation Sindoor, Rahul Gandhi seems to be working against our national interest. Instead of acknowledging PM Modi's strong response that has forced Pakistan on its knees, Rahul Gandhi is busy spreading Pakistan's falsehoods to create doubts amongst the people and demoralise our armed forces,' Reddy said in a post on X. 'It is truly unfortunate that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress continue to echo Pakistan's propaganda -- especially when the entire world has acknowledged India's precision strikes. Can we ever expect Rahul Gandhi and the Congress to rise above petty politics and stand with India? Will he ever change? Or is loyalty to the nation too much to ask from Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party?' he added. On Monday, Rahul Gandhi again questioned External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, accusing him of being silent about how many aircraft the Indian Air Force lost during the operation. He said that the nation 'deserves the truth.' 'EAM Jaishankar's silence isn't just telling -- it's damning. So I'll ask again: How many Indian aircraft did we lose because Pakistan knew? This wasn't a lapse. It was a crime. And the nation deserves the truth,' Rahul Gandhi posted on X. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead. As part of the operation, Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
