Telangana Formation Day: President Murmu sends ‘progress, prosperity' greeting; traffic restrictions in place for events

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday greeted people of Telangana on their statehood day, wishing them to 'march ahead on the path of progress and prosperity'. "Warm greetings to the people of Telangana on Statehood Day! This young State has a rich cultural heritage and a vibrant modern ecosystem of economic and technological development. I wish that the people of Telangana march ahead on the path of progress and prosperity," the President said in a post on X. Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh and accorded statehood on this day in 2014. Chief Minster Revanth Reddy paid floral tributes to martyrs at the Martyr Memorial in Gun Park, Hyderabad, and attended the Telangana Statehood Day event. Various traffic restrictions have been put in place between 6 am and 1 pm in view of the State Formation Day celebrations which will be held at Gun Park in Nampally and Parade Ground, a Telangana Today report said. At least 20 locations have been identified by the authorities where are likely to experience traffic congestions: Ravindra Bharathi, AR Petrol Pump, Hyderabad Traffic Police Junction, Chilakalguda X roads, Alugaddabavi X roads, Sangeeth X roads, YMCA X roads, Patny X roads, SBH X roads, Plaza, CTO junction, Brooke Bond junction, Tivoli Junction, Sweekar Upakar junction, Secunderabad Club, Trimulgherry 'X' roads, Tadbund 'X' road, Diamond Point, Bowenpally 'X' road, Rasoolpura, Begumpet and Paradise, the report added. The state government on Sunday announced that 486 policemen and other uniformed service personnel would be awarded Police Seva Medals in recognition of their distinguished service, a TOI report said. In an order, special chief secretary Ravi Gupta said that nine policemen from Greyhounds, an anti-Naxal commando force, had been awarded the Shourya Pathakamu. Telangana Formation Day celebrations were held on Monday at Telangana Legislative Assembly in Hyderabad. Telangana Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar unfurled the national flag at the Assembly, news agency ANI said. BJP MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy, Congress MLA G. Vivek Venkatswamy, Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy, MLC Vijay Shanti and others participated in the celebration. The visuals showed Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and Chairman Gutha Sukender offering flowers and paying respect at the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr BR Ambedkar. (With inputs from agencies)

Police in Mahankali caught two women for lying to elderly men and taking their money by talking about marriage, as reported by Telangana Today. The women are K. Saraswati (65) from Krishna district and K. Swathi (40) from Kothagudem, Khammam district. Police said the women told the men they were relatives looking for a bride or groom. After the elderly men showed interest, the women asked for money for health or family problems. Then, they ran away. One man from Khammam lost Rs 1.8 lakh. He went to the police, and they started the case. Police asked other people who were cheated to come and make a complaint.

New Delhi: South star Nani's HIT: The Third Case debuted in the theatres on May 1. The action thriller, directed by Sailesh Kolanu, has till now minted Rs 65 crore. On Day 9 (May 9), HIT: The Third Case earned Rs 1.75 crore at the ticket window, reported industry tracker Sacnilk. This brings the film's total box office collection to Rs 65.25 crore. The movie witnessed an overall Telugu occupancy rate of 16.29 percent on its second Friday, added the report. Breaking it down, HIT: The Third Case recorded an occupancy rate of 16.33 percent for the morning shows. It was followed by the afternoon shows registering 31.95 percent. While the audience attendance during the evening screenings stood at 20.57 percent, the night shows peaked at 40.4 percent. Nani slips into the shoes of SP Arjun Sarkaar in HIT: The Third Case. KGF fame actress Srinidhi Shetty plays the female lead, ASP Mridula and Nani's love interest. Adil Pala, Suriya Srinivas, Samuthirakani, Rao Ramesh, Nepoleo, Komalee Prasad and Ravindra Vijay are also seen in pivotal roles. Previously, Nani opened up about how he got roped in HIT: The Third Case. The actor, in a conversation with Telangana Today, shared, 'I got a call from Wall Poster Cinema. They said they were from the HIT franchise and asked me to drop by. When I walked in, Sailesh Sir was reading a book. He asked me what I do, and I showed him my previous work." Nani added, 'I had a three-minute video I had recorded for an audition—it was not even meant for this role. But after watching it, he said, 'That is enough. I will talk to Nani and get back to you.' And boom—I was in." HIT: The Third Case is the third part of the cop franchise. The first installment, HIT: The First Case (2020), featured Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma in key roles. The second segment, HIT: The Second Case (2022), was led by Adivi Sesh and Meenakshi Chaudhary.

New Delhi: Nani's HIT: The Third Case is steadily inching towards the Rs 60 crore milestone at the domestic box office. On day 6, the action thriller collected Rs 2.75 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film's total collection now stands at Rs 58.55 crore. HIT: The Third Case recorded an overall 20.13% Telugu occupancy on its first Tuesday. The report added that the morning shows saw 14.34%, afternoon shows peaked at 28.53%, evening shows witnessed 19.93% and night shows registered 23% occupancy. Led by Nani, HIT: The Third Case features Srinidhi Shetty, Surya Srinivas, Adil Pala, Rao Ramesh, Samuthirakani, Komalee Prasad, Nepoleon, and Ravindra Vijay in key roles. Surya, who plays ASP Ravi in the movie, recently shared how he got the role in the film. The actor told Telangana Today, "I got a call from Wall Poster Cinema.
