Viraj Kapoor On His Role In Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan: ‘Got Very Excited'

Last Updated: Viraj Kapoor opened up about what drew him to the character and how he mentally prepares to portray a negative role. Television actor Viraj Kapoor has been winning hearts in popular historical drama Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. With his gripping portrayal of the powerful antagonist Nagarjuna, he is bringing plenty of drama, action and unexpected twists in the show. Recently, he sat for an interview with a media portal where he shared his excitement about stepping into this intense role. In an interview with ETimes, Viraj opened up about what drew him to the character and how he mentally prepares to portray a negative role. Moreover, he spoke about working with popular actor Ronit Roy, who was playing a significant role in the show as well. Revealing that the depth of Nagarjuna's character was the main reason he decided to accept the role. 'When I learned how powerful this character is and the kind of impact it leaves on the show every time, I knew I had to do it. In the 5th episode, viewers get to know that he has killed his own brother. By the 10th episode, he betrays his father and later plans to kill Ronit Roy's character. There are a lot of things that this character offers. When I got to know about the character, I got very excited and decided to do it," Viraj stated. Known for his versatile acting, Viraj is not new to playing negative roles. He has stepped into the role of an antagonist in several shows. Sharing his experience, he explained, 'I've played many negative roles before, so I have never struggled with keeping distinctions. As an actor, it's important to know when to switch on and switch off from the role, which personally I know with time. While shooting, you have to immerse yourself completely in the character, otherwise, fans won't enjoy what they see." Viraj also expressed his enthusiasm about working with acclaimed actor Ronit Roy. In a chat with Zoom, the young actor said, 'I've admired Ronit sir since the beginning. I had never worked with him. In the beginning, I was nervous, but not scared. The person whom you've seen since childhood—you like their qualities, but when you work with them, you need to keep that excitement aside. Because if you are in a zone of excitement, you can't perform." As the main villain in Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, Viraj's character plays an important role in shaping the storyline. Nagarjuna's betrayal and power struggles bring a significant twist to the plot, especially with his menacing plans to kill King Someshwar (played by Ronit Roy). Before Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, Viraj Kapoor was seen playing significant roles in shows like Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Kulfi Kumar Bajewala and Nadaan Parindey Ghar Aaja. view comments First Published: July 16, 2025, 17:56 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Rochak Kohli: I'm fortunate to get films and briefs that talk about emotion

Composer-songwriter Rochak Kohli on crafting emotion in a remix-driven Bollywood music industry Rochak Kohli , the Bollywood music director who first won hearts with the soulful 'Paani Da Rang' from Shoojit Sircar's Vicky Donor, continues to impress with his deeply emotional compositions. Known also for hits like 'Paaniyon Sa,' 'Tera Yaar Hoon Main,' and 'Lae Dooba,' Rochak's latest track, 'Jab Tu Sajan' from Aap Jaisa Koi, reflects his commitment to authentic musical storytelling in an industry driven increasingly by algorithms and remixes. On the creative process behind 'Jab Tu Sajan,' he explains, 'This is special because it is based on a very true kind of emotion. It's based on raags, and the lyrics are not screaming and shouting for attention. I think that's the best part.' He adds that the production deliberately avoids heavy electronic instrumentation, favoring live music instead. 'Sharan Rawat, who's the producer of the song, had a tough time doing it because we were after him, saying this sounds too electronic. We wanted to make a song that is out of the clutter, and when the audience listens to it, it should stay with them.' Rochak's body of work is marked by its emotional resonance, and when asked what keeps him connected to authentic storytelling in a fast-changing musical landscape, he credits the films and briefs he receives. 'I am very fortunate, first of all, to get films and briefs that talk about emotion. Whether it's 'Paani Da,' 'Atrangi Yaari,' or 'Jab Tu Sajan', all these songs are very emotional. They connect with the audience on an emotional level, and the audience forms an emotional bond with these songs. ' While he acknowledges that not every song he composes is emotionally charged, he emphasizes that 'in my process, I never make a song without emotion, some emotions translate successfully, and some don't.' On the trend of remakes dominating the charts, Rochak offers a pragmatic view. When asked how it feels when recreated versions of older songs get more marketing push than original compositions, he says, 'We are part of the industry, and we know that. Whenever a song is pushed, if it's genuinely good, it'll reach out. If it's not a good song, then it's a waste of money. So, you know, we know what's happening behind the scenes. ' He avoids blaming any particular party for the popularity of remakes, pointing instead to the diversity of audiences and creators. 'Nobody is to be blamed, you know. I think everybody has a right to create music as they wish, and there is an audience for every kind of music. So if there is a remake, and if the remake is well done, then it'll get love. Otherwise, we've seen many remakes getting hate as well. And the audience is very smart right now, you know? They catch on to good music, whether it's a remake or an original. ' For young composers navigating the complex world of streaming-first hits and algorithm-driven music, Rochak has encouraging words. 'First of all, I am very impressed by the people who are out there doing it. There are a lot of young guys whom I follow, and I really want to learn from them about how they're doing it, because I do not have that kind of confidence, you know. So it's always good to see people who are younger and who are just killing it. '

Ssudeep Sahir to exit Parineetii ahead of 20-year time leap

Ssudeep Sahir Ssudeep Sahir , who became a part of Parineetii in March, is all set to bid farewell to the show. His track is nearing its conclusion as the series prepares for a significant 20-year leap. While other cast changes are yet to be officially confirmed, Ssudeep's exit has been finalised. A source associated with the show informed us, 'Yes, Ssudeep's track is ending, and he will wrap up his shoot soon. His portrayal of Prithvi, a sharp and shrewd businessman, was well received by the audience and added a strong layer of intrigue to the narrative. However, with the upcoming leap, we felt it was time to take a step forward and explore a new storyline that offers fresh dynamics.' Ssudeep remained unavailable for comment. In an earlier conversation with us, reflecting on his role, Ssudeep had shared, 'It feels great to be back with Parineetii, a show that has consistently captivated audiences with its gripping storytelling. What made this project particularly special for me was the opportunity to portray a grey-shaded character for the first time. Prithvi is unlike any role I've played before — he's unpredictable, layered, enigmatic, and carries an aura of command and mystery. As a businessman, he is strategic and calculated in his decisions, always playing his cards close to the chest. But beneath that sharp exterior lies a man deeply driven by vengeance. I was genuinely excited for the audience to experience the many twists and turns he brought to the show.' Parineetii features Anchal Sahu , Tanvi Dogra , and Ankur Verma in the lead roles. Ssudeep's entry into the show marked his return to the small screen after a three-year hiatus following his performance in Tera Yaar Hoon Main. He was particularly enthusiastic about joining Parineetii because it gave him the chance to break away from his string of positive roles and explore a more complex, grey-shaded character. Ssudeep began his acting journey in 2003 with Kyun Hota Hai Pyaarrr and has since been a part of several notable shows, including Ayushmaan, Jabb Love Hua, Santaan, Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki, Shastri Sisters, and Woh Apna Sa.
