STAR TREK Actor Cast in VISION QUEST Series as Character Last Seen in the MCU in AVENGERS
Marvel's Vision Quest series is headed our way next year, and casting is underway ahead of the show's shooting schedule. The series is being showrun by Star Trek: Picard writer/producer Terry Matalas, who won't be the only Trek alum on set. The studio revealed that Orla Brady, who plays the dual role of housekeeper Laris and supervisor Tallinn in Picard , has now been confirmed to be included in Vision Quest's cast. Collider reports that at Star Trek Las Vegas this month, Matalas confirmed that Brady would be portraying the artificial intelligence character FRIDAY in Vision Quest . Brady joins a number of other actors playing AIso in the upcoming series, including James Spader, making his return after 11 years as Ultron; T'Nia Miller, who will debut as Jocasta; and Emily Hampshire, who takes on the role of EDITH, first seen in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home . FRIDAY, Tony Stark's replacement for JARVIS, was voiced by Kerry Condon between Avengers: Age of Ultron and Endgame , but we haven't heard from the character since. It's too bad that Condon couldn't return to the role for whatever reason, but Brady is a great choice for the role. Stay tuned for updates on Vision Quest , which is currently in production, and it set to hit Disney+ sometime next year.

Terry Matalas Reveals New ‘Vision Quest' Details
At Saturday's STLV convention, former Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas revealed some Marvel-approved details about his upcoming series, Vision Quest. The sci-fi series reunites him with actors Todd Stashwick and Orla Brady, who respectively played Captain Shaw and Laris/Tallinn in Picard. According to Matalas, Brady will be playing F.R.I.D.A.Y.—Tony Stark's AI assistant previously voiced in the films by Kerry Condon—and Stashwick is Paladin, a mercenary in Marvel Comics. When Stashwick was announced for the show, he was described as an assassin tracking down Paul Bettany's White Vision, who gained sentience at the end of WandaVision. As for a returning Ultron, last seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron and played by James Spader, Matalas teased the character would be used in a 'unique' way. The series' cast also includes Ruaridh Mollica, T'Nia Miller, Faran Tahir, and Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., the Stark-made AI in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Matalas further revealed Vision Quest was full of Star Trek fans, which let them speak in Trek shorthand during production. He compared Vision's journey in the show to Spock's in Star Trek IV, implying the new android will have trouble connecting to his old memories now that he's been reawakened. The panel didn't feature a trailer or photos, but count us intrigued for Vision Quest, which is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2026. [via Alex Perry] Want more io9 news? Netflix Unveils Wildly Ambitious Animation Slate: MAGIC THE GATHERING, GHOSTBUSTERS, MINECRAFT, CLASH OF CLANS, and More — GeekTyrant
Netflix just rolled out one of its most ambitious animation slates yet, offering an early peek at a lineup that spans everything from gritty Ghostbusters and magical plane walkers to animal dating and workplace fantasy war zones. The reveals came during the streamer's packed studio panel at the Annecy Festival, where Netflix spotlighted projects aimed at every demographic—from Dr. Seuss preschoolers to adult animation die-hards. Here's a breakdown of the key titles that stole the show: Magic: The Gathering One of Netflix's biggest swings is a sprawling adaptation of Magic: The Gathering. Dylan Thomas hyped the project as 'an epic fantasy saga… with Terry Matalas leading the writing, Oscar winner Patrick Osborne directing, and Simon Rogers as our art director.' The show is being developed with CG powerhouse DIGIC in Budapest. Thomas added, 'This is one of the most ambitious shows to date.' Ghostbusters Netflix is teaming with Sony Pictures Animation for a brand-new Ghostbusters animated series, and it sounds nothing like what fans might expect. 'This is 'Ghostbusters' like you've never seen it,' said Dominique Bazay. The show is being animated by Flying Bark (Sydney) and a new team in Madrid. Bazay added, 'Our goal is never photorealism but something tactile and tangible,' as she previewed concept art showcasing a stylized, gritty New York. Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 The bloody and beautiful samurai drama is coming back—bigger and more intense than before. 'While I can't say much,' teased Thomas, 'I will say that somehow the scripts and the storyboards are crazier, they're bigger and even more heart-wrenching than Season 1.' A short sizzle reel reportedly confirmed just that. Minecraft Netflix's adaptation of Minecraft is being built from the ground up with Mojang Studios, and fans can expect something fresh yet faithful. Bazay said, 'Obviously, they want to make something authentic and familiar to Minecraft, but also create a universe that is a new experience for fans.' A few images shown reportedly got audible gasps from the crowd. Clash of Clans The hit mobile game is being reimagined as… a workplace comedy. Yes, really. 'We're going to turn this wild fantasy world of clashing into a workplace comedy,' Bazay confirmed, with Fletcher Moles and Ron Weiner attached. It's a tonal pivot, and if done right, could be a total blast. Stranger Things: Tales from '85 Flying Bark is also animating this nostalgic spinoff from the Stranger Things universe. John Derderian explained, 'We want to create cinematic-level masterworks in series form.' Dominique Bazay added, 'Eric's working with the Duffer brothers to bring Hawkins, Indiana, into animation… it is a very beautiful thing.' Splinter Cell: Deathwatch Sam Fisher's animated debut is in good hands. 'This is really one of the most visceral shows we've produced in adult animation,' said Thomas. The show, based on Ubisoft's stealth-action franchise, has been described as a true international collaboration. Long Story Short Raphael Bob-Waksberg (BoJack Horseman) returns with Long Story Short, an ambitious family comedy. 'It's every bit as ambitious, hilarious, and original,' said adult comedy head Billy Wee. A clip from the premiere reportedly had the room laughing hard. Haunted Hotel From Dan Harmon, Matt Roller, Chris McKenna, and Steve Levy comes Haunted Hotel, a horror-comedy that blends irreverent tone with a dynamic cast of ghosts. 'It's a terrifying and hilarious horror comedy,' said Wee. Mating Season From the team behind Big Mouth, Mating Season takes animal courtship and turns it into an adult romantic comedy. Nick Kroll described it as 'an adult animated comedy about dating and finding love that's set in the animal world with absolutely adorable and fully horny forest creatures.' The early pencil test was reportedly a hit. Dr. Seuss Preschool Slate Netflix is going all-in on Seuss with Red Fish Blue Fish, Horton!, and a long-form special of The Sneetches. Heather Tilert said these shows 'came from a very specific, passionate creator point of view,' calling The Sneetches 'a stunning 44-minute special… a great introduction to family movie night.' Samuel The panel opened with the announcement of Samuel, an animated adaptation of the French comic. 'Great stories are universal, and we are the studio without borders at Netflix,' said Derderian. Netflix is doubling down on animation across all genres. From fantasy to comedy, preschool to horror, there's a something for everyone to enjoy.

Marvel's 'Vision Quest' Spin-Off Beams Up 'Star Trek' Writing Team
Marvel's mysterious TV project Vision Quest , a spin-off series based on 2021's WandaVision , has gained a team of veteran Star Trek writers and production staff. The series, which has been in development for over a year, will be helmed by Terry Matalas, who was the showrunner and writer of seasons two and three of 2022's Star Trek: Picard , and also wrote season 3 of 2003's Star Trek: Enterprise . Matalas isn't the lone Star Trek talent either, as he is set to reunite with fellow franchise writers for the upcoming series. WandaVision (2021) As detailed by Vision Quest's listing on the Writers Guild of America website, Matalas will be joined by co-executive producers Chris Monfette, Cindy Appel, and supervising producer Matt Okumura, who all worked on the latter half of Star Trek: Picard . Rounding off the team is co-executive producer Michael A. Taylor, who wrote episodes of the 1993 sci-fi series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine , 1995's Star Trek: Voyager , and 2004's Battlestar Galactica . With such a strong team of sci-fi talent, things are looking up for the elusive Marvel series. Filming for Vision Quest began earlier in the year at Pinewood Studios in London, and although plot details have not been revealed, the series would most likely follow after the events of WandaVision and be centred around Paul Bettany's White Vision. Additionally, the series is also set to include the return of some familiar faces, such as James Spader's Ultron from 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron , alongside Raza from the original 2008 Iron Man film, the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist group who kidnaps Tony Stark in the beginning of the movie which led to the creation of the Mark 1 suit. No confirmed release window has been announced for Vision Quest , although the series is expected to be released on Disney+ sometime in 2026. Kevin is a reformed PC Master Race gamer with a penchant for franchise 'duds' like Darksiders III and Dead Space 3 . He has made it his life-long mission to play every single major game release – lest his wallet dies trying. Marvel Star Trek Vision Quest WandaVision

Marvel Has Reportedly Found Their Jocasta aka Bride of Ultron for Upcoming Series VISION QUEST — GeekTyrant
A new rumor from the world of the MCU claims that the studio has found their Jocasta, also known as the Bride of Ultron, for the upcoming series, Vision Quest . Terry Matalas ( Star Trek: Picard ) is showrunning the series, taking the place of Jac Schaeffer, who left that series to focus on Agatha All Along . Paul Bettany will return in Vision Quest as the title character, with James Spader reprising his Avengers: Age of Ultron role as Ultron. Todd Stashwick and Faran Tahir, who is back as Iron Man 's Raza, are also set to appear, as is Ruaridh Mollica (widely believed to be Tommy Maximoff). Now it's being reported by Nexus Point News (via CBM) that Vision Quest is set to include a version of Jocasta. The character has reportedly been cast, but the identity of who will play her is currently being kept under wraps. The site has seen some casting details, though, and it sounds like Marvel Studios wanted a Black actress in her 40s - 60s to play a character better known in the comics as "The Bride of Ultron." The fact that an older actor was wanted suggests Jocasta will take on that role in the MCU as well. According to the casting call, "Jocasta is described as being cunning, powerful, determined, and motivated by revenge." We can only speculate about what that means, though it's previously been reported that Vision Quest will feature these characters in "human" form. Created by Jim Shooter and George Perez in 1977, Jocasta debuted in the pages of 1977's Avengers #162 . Built by Ultron, Jocasta's consciousness is based on the brain patterns of Janet Van Dyne, as in the comics, Ultron was created and based on Hank Pym, not Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. Jocasta would go on to serve as a member of The Avengers and, in recent years, attempted to make herself more human. When she did so, the character was portrayed as a Black woman, so Vision Quest isn't taking any liberties with the source material here. Are you interested in seeing this character join the MCU?
