Thalaivan Thalaivii teaser: Vijay Sethupathi, Nithya Menen's marriage turns rocky in Pandiraaj's ‘rugged love story'
Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen are reuniting three years after their Malayalam film, Indhu VS' 19(1)(a). This time, it's for Pandiraaj's Tamil film Thalaivan Thalaivii. The makers dropped the title teaser on Saturday, revealing the name of the film, which was being referred to as 'VJS 52' so far. The teaser starts with a close-up shot of food being cooked. In the background, the mother-in-law is heard saying in Tamil, 'You don't have to cook at all, my dear daughter-in-law. We will treat you like royalty!' The sister-in-law's voice follows: 'You don't have to worry at all, Arasi. You can forsake any number of people for my brother's sake.' Then Vijay Sethupathi's voice says, 'You have left your parents behind and came with me in full trust. You parents will feel bad they didn't love you to this extent. Wait and watch. I will treat you as the queen of my heart.' The next second, we see that the cooking gets far more aggressive as Sethupathi and Menen's characters use big blades in the same tawa, as if at loggerheads with each other. 'According to you, is this the way a king pampers his queen?,' she asks. 'If you don't like me, go back to your father's place,' hits back Sethupathi. 'Of course, to me, my home is a palace,' says Menen. They sarcastically refer to each other as 'sir' and 'madam', respectively, much to each other's chagrin. 'I wonder why I got on to your bike, sir,' says Nithya Menen, to which Vijay Sethupathi sharply retorts, 'Get down, madam, and go your way! Who stopped you?' Menen loses it, points a finger at her husband, and says, 'If you say one more word, I'll rub your face in this parotta pan!' A riled Sethupathi then covers his mouth with a scarf and continues to mumble. 'Even after gagging, you can't zip your lips,' says Menen. Yogi Babu then pops up, looks into the camera, and says, 'Guys, they are not normal people like us. Take my word for it. Please.' The next instant, we see a twist in the tale as Sethupathi fires a gun on the ground in front of a bunch of people, including Menen, who looks scared and concerned.
