Podcasts increasingly relevant to politicians, Adam Carolla says
(NewsNation) — More politicians are appearing on podcasts as an alternative to mainstream media, but comedian Adam Carolla says the strategy won't work across the board. 'If the person has a lot of substance and good ideas, then this is not their enemy,' he told 'CUOMO' on Thursday. 'If you're sort of shallow and dim-witted and speak in sound bites, then it's not going to be a good friend of yours.' Trump, Harris hit podcast circuit in final days before election Carolla, host of 'The Adam Carolla Show,' is considered a trailblazer of the format. Because some podcasts now reach millions of listeners, politicians have increasingly embraced them. In the 2024 presidential election, Republican Donald Trump guested on 'The Joe Rogan Experience,' while Democrat Kamala Harris appeared on Alex Cooper's 'Call Her Daddy.' Harris' camp reportedly could not come to terms with Rogan's team to appear on his popular podcast. Carolla says declining to appear on someone's show can generate blowback for a politician. 'It's kind of lose-lose,' he said. 'You don't get your message across, and you send another message, which is: I am scared to sit down with an intelligent person who's going to ask real questions that I'm going to have to answer in an unedited format.'
