Assam-based girl Binita Chetry creates history as second runner-up on Britain's Got Talent

In a pride moment for India and particularly for Assam, 9-year-old Karbi Anglong girl Binita Chetry has earned the second runner-up spot on the international platform of Britain's Got Talent (BGT). The adorable dancer's path from a small village in Assam to the finale of one of the largest reality shows in the world has won over hearts of people from continents. The grand finale, which took place on Saturday evening in London, was won by British illusionist Harry Moulding, who was followed by The Blackouts LED dance group in the runner-up position. However, it was Binita's emotional performances that left everyone emotionally moved, particularly Indian audiences. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised Binita for her success through a moving post on X (formerly Twitter): Dancing her way to glory. Congratulations to our very own #BinitaChetry for bagging the 3rd position at #BGTFinal. Her dances have bewitched audiences from the Brahmaputra to the Thames and made us proud. Wishing her the best in all her future endeavors. Binita is believed to be the first Indian contestant to reach the final stage of Britain's Got Talent, making her achievement a historic milestone. Her family, overwhelmed with emotion, said her journey from Karbi Anglong to the BGT finale proves that talent knows no boundaries. Famous for her elegant but charged dance performances, Binita incorporated Indian classical themes into contemporary choreography, developing a distinctive signature style that stunned judges as well as international viewers. Her tale has struck a chord, not only as a victory in dance, but as a victory of grit and sheer talent. For aspiring kids around India, particularly those from rural and underrepresented areas, Binita Chetry is an inspiring example of what is possible with guts, hard work, and passion.
