My Hero OTT Release Date: When and where to watch Eric Roberts' Kannada debut, also starring Djilali Rez-Kallah

My Hero OTT Release Date: After a successful run in theatres and on the film festival circuit, Avinash Vijaykumar's debut film is finally making its way to your screens at home. The much-talked-about Kannada drama, which features Hollywood actor Djilali Rez-Kallah in the lead and marks the Kannada debut of Eric Roberts (yes, Julia Roberts' brother and the man you might remember from The Dark Knight), is set to stream on Amazon Prime Video starting May 30, 2025. But there's a catch. My Hero is expected to drop under Amazon Prime Video's TVOD (Transactional Video on Demand) model. So, if you were planning to binge it as part of your subscription, you might need to rent it separately instead. What is My Hero all about? Set in Madhya Pradesh's Maheshwar Ghats, My Hero revolves around Gary, an American who travels to India to perform Hindu Tithi Shradh rituals for his deceased son. The role is portrayed with grace and restraint by Djilali Rez-Kallah. Soon after arriving, Gary meets Vishwa, a street-smart young local boy played by Vedik Kaushik, known from Drama Juniors. As Gary prepares for the rituals, Vishwa shows him around the holy town. What begins as a typical guide-tourist interaction slowly transforms into a deeper connection. The duo form a strong bond, and Gary starts questioning why this bright boy is not in school. The answer he receives is anything but easy to hear. This one is based on a true story What gives My Hero its weight is that it draws from two real-life events. One, a shocking story of a young boy from an oppressed caste who was mutilated for touching a religious idol during a procession. The second, actor Sylvester Stallone's visit to Varanasi to perform Hindu rites for his late son. Avinash Vijaykumar, the writer-director, melded these two incidents into a moving narrative. The film is told from Gary's point of view, documenting not just his rituals but also Vishwa's painful journey, how he was shunned by his village and what made him flee from Karnataka all the way to Madhya Pradesh. Apart from its international flavour with Djilali and Eric Roberts, My Hero also features some of Kannada cinema's finest actors, including H. G. Dattatreya, Prakash Belawadi, Ankita Amar, James Gioia, Niranjan Deshpande, Tanuja Krishnappa, Kshitij Pawar and Dattanna.

‘Something Beautiful' Trailer: Miley Cyrus Makes Her Directorial Debut with Pop Opera Feature

Miley Cyrus has been a mega-star for more than a decade but now the multihyphenate is adding another talent to her resume: director. Cyrus helms her pop opera feature 'Something Beautiful,' making her directorial debut with the 'one of a kind' cinematic experience that is 'fueled by fantasy,' as the logline teases. Cyrus co-directs with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter. 'Something Beautiful' will feature 13 original songs from Cyrus' ninth studio album of the same name. The film is mixed by Alan Meyerson ('Dune Part One,' 'The Dark Knight') for a theatrical release. 'Mandy' breakout filmmaker Panos Cosmatos produces along with Cyrus and XYZ Films, in collaboration with Sony Music Vision, Columbia Records, and Live Nation. Benoît Debie is the cinematographer. More from IndieWire Nia DaCosta, Andrew Ahn, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Kyle MacLachlan, and Eliza Hittman to Serve on Tribeca Festival 2025 Jury Cannes 2025 Films Sold So Far: Jafar Panahi's 'It Was Just an Accident' Acquired by Neon ''Something Beautiful' is my dream project come true — fashion, film, and original music coexisting in harmony,' Cyrus said in a press statement. 'My co-creators are all geniuses in their own right: from the masters of sound, Shawn Everett and Alan Meyerson, to one of cinema's most unique directors, Panos Cosmatos serving as a producer. Each collaborator has used their expertise to make this fantasy a reality.' 'Something Beautiful' will have its world premiere June 6 at the Tribeca Festival. The film follows the trend of visual albums with feature accompaniments: The Weeknd recently debuted 'Hurry Up Tomorrow' starring Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan to coincide with his album as well. As for the 'Something Beautiful' team, producer Cosmatos has his own feature in the works starring another first-time female director, Kristen Stewart, whose 'The Chronology of Water' wowed at Cannes. Stewart will star alongside Oscar Isaac in Cosmatos' '80s-set vampire rave drama 'Flesh of the Gods,' written by 'Se7en' screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker. The film centers on married couple Raoul (Isaac) and Alex (Stewart) who descend each evening from their luxury skyscraper condo and head into an electric nighttime realm of '80s Los Angeles, per the official synopsis. When they cross paths with a mysterious and enigmatic woman and her hard-partying cabal, Raoul and Alex are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills, and violence. 'Flesh of the Gods' will be the fourth collaboration between Cosmatos and XYZ, including 'Something Beautiful.' 'Something Beautiful' will be released in theaters for one night only on June 12 from Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision. Check out the trailer below. 3 Netflix movies you need to stream before they leave this month

Netflix boasts an impressive, ever-changing lineup of shows and movies. New movies are coming to the streaming service all the time, but that churn means that Netflix frequently loses worthwhile watches, too. We now know which films are due to leave the platform within the next week and there are a couple of genuine classics on that list. One is an all-time superhero movie from one of the industry's biggest directors, and the other is an acclaimed adaptation of a Jane Austen classic. I've also thrown in a third movie that doesn't necessarily have the best reputation, but it's an action thriller that I think a lot of viewers might get a kick out of (given the sequel made quite a splash when it dropped on the platform earlier this year). Without further ado, here are the three Netflix movies you should make time to stream before it's too late. Looking for a dose of action? 'Den of Thieves' might be the movie for you. Christian Gudegast's 2018 thriller sees grizzled Detective 'Big Nick' O'Brien on the trail of a highly-skilled gang of robbers led by ex-Marine, Ray Merrimen (Pablo Schreiber). Their target? The supposedly impenetrable Federal Reserve and billions of dollars' worth of old bills held therein. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Sequel 'Den of Thieves: Pantera' was a popular watch when it hit Netflix earlier this year, and while that light-hearted sequel eclipses this more serious starting point, if you're a Gerard Butler fan or you want something a little high-octane to liven up your streaming, 'Den of Thieves' deserves a look. Watch 'Den of Thieves' on Netflix until June 1 If you didn't manage to mark the 20th anniversary of this celebrated Jane Austen adaptation last month, now's the perfect time to visit Joe Wright's acclaimed, Oscar-nominated period drama. Taking us back to the 18th Century, Wright's 'Pride and Prejudice' is a spirited adaptation that recounts the story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. It may not be the most faithful take on Austen's novel, but it absolutely deserves its reputation as a classic. There's a reason it's one of our favorite Jane Austen movies. Chiefly, that's down to fantastic lead performances from Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, and some truly beautiful visuals and direction. If your heart needs romance this month, you know what you need to stream. Watch 'Pride and Prejudice' on Netflix until June 1 Hot take incoming: 'The Dark Knight' is good, actually. It's a superhero movie that puts you on the edge of your seat from the jump with that Gotham bank heist, and then really never lets up. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger bring their all to their respective roles as the Caped Crusader and the Clown Prince of Crime, rendering their characters with skill. Brought to life with skill across the board, this is a tense, dramatic, and gritty watch, and a rewarding one at that. Realistically, I'm not saying anything new here: "The Dark Knight" is about as hyped up as a superhero movie can get, but it's all well-deserved praise. If you've not seen it, watch it; if you have, watch it anyway. Watch 'The Dark Knight' on Netflix until June 1 P.S. If you've been planning a Nolan Batman trilogy rewatch on Netflix, now's the time to do it, as both 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight Rises' are also slated to leave the streamer on the same day.

The Dark Knight Trilogy Writer Had Bigger Plans for Joker in Third Outing of Christopher Nolan

Christian Bale is still considered one of the best Batmans ever on screen. All thanks to Christopher Nolan, who brought the character to life, and Heath Ledger's character, who gave a tough time to the Caped Crusader onscreen. Meanwhile, the writer of the trilogy recently reflected on the initial plans of the film and how Joker had a major role in The Dark Knight Rises. As per a recent report, David Goyer, who penned the trilogy, working alongside the director of The Prestige, stated that he wanted much more of Joker in The Dark Knight Rises, which was even implemented in the original draft of the film. According to the writer, the original plan for the trilogy would have had Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, be one of the villains in the third film. Meanwhile, Joker would have an even more crucial role in The Dark Knight, as he alone would have fought Batman, getting on his nerves and making the superhero even more frustrated. As per Fortress, this was the plan even before the principal photography for The Dark Knight. Coming to The Dark Knight Rises, that gave an even deadlier villain, Bane, it would have been another outing for Joker to play his games again. The movie was at first set to focus on Joker slowly corrupting Dent after he would be sent on trial for his crimes in the previous outing. However, the third outing, The Dark Knight Rises, still won many hearts and gave the trilogy a brought forth by Christopher Nolan a perfect ending. Besides Bale and Ledger, the trilogy even brought forth the talents of Cillian Murphy as Scarecrow, Liam Neeson as Ra's al Ghul, and Marion Cotillard as his daughter Talia al Ghul. Two-Face was played by Aaron Eckhart, with Gary Oldman playing James Gordon and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.

One-Month Return: +10.7% Starting from a single Washington, D.C. location, CAVA (NYSE:CAVA) operates a fast-casual restaurant chain offering customizable Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
