India's First Bullet Train Project, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor, spanning across 508 kilometres, will offer fast connectivity between Maharashtra and Gujarat states in western India. In a landmark move to revolutionize India's railway network, the inaugural Shinkansen bullet trains, integral to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, have entered the trial phase in Japan. This progress represents a significant milestone in India's path toward launching its first high-speed rail corridor. As per a report by The Financial Express, under the Indo-Japanese partnership, Japan will gift India two Shinkansen bullet trains — one each from the E5 and E3 series — for early testing and checks. These high-speed trains, which can run at speeds of up to 320 km/h, are expected to reach India by early 2026. After their arrival, the trains will go through detailed testing to see how well they perform in India's local weather and climate conditions. The trial trains come fitted with advanced inspection systems to check key factors like driving conditions, temperature tolerance, and dust resistance — all of which are important for running bullet trains smoothly in India. As reported by The Japan Times, the information gathered from these tests will also support India in developing its own next-generation E10 series Shinkansen trains under the 'Make in India' initiative. The bullet train project, in partnership with Japan is a significant move towards the country's infrastructure development and is expected to boost regional connectivity, economic development, and employment in the western states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. MAHSR is a visionary project of the government which will herald a new era of safety, speed and service for the people and help Indian Railways become an international leader in scale, speed and skill. MAHSR project passes through high growth rate States of Gujarat and Maharashtra connecting business centres of Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad. According to news agency ANI report, the sanctioned cost of MAHSR project is Rs 1,08,000 crore As per the official website of National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), after starting from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) area in Maharashtra, the high-speed train running at a speed of 320 km/h will revolutionise intercity travel in the region and will integrate the economies of Mumbai, Vapi, Surat, Anand, Vadodara & Ahmedabad. It will have stops at 10 cities in between namely Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and will terminate at Sabarmati. The entire journey will be completed in about 2 hours 7 minutes with limited stops (at Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad), which is substantially less than the time taken by conventional trains or road journeys. The design of each of the 12 stations on the MAHSR line will reflect the spirit of the city it is located in.

Ruchi Gujjar turns heads at Cannes 2025 in ‘PM Modi' necklace: Who is she?

The Cannes Film Festival is not only a premier celebration of global cinema but also a major stage for show-stopping fashion. This year was no different, with the red carpet transforming into a runway for actors and influencers to debut their boldest looks. On Tuesday, emerging actor and model Ruchi Gujjar made her Cannes debut in a striking ensemble. But what truly grabbed attention was her choice of jewellery: pendants featuring the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which she wore to the Chopard Caroline Universe Dinner. Gujjar paired the pendants with a dramatic gold lehenga that showcased Indian craftsmanship. 'The necklace is more than just jewellery, it's a symbol of strength, vision, and India's rise on the world stage. By wearing it at Cannes, I wanted to honour our Prime Minister, whose leadership has taken India to new heights,' she said, as reported by The Financial Express. A post shared by Ruchi Gujjar (@ruchigujjarofficial) Her lehenga, designed by Roopa Sharmaa, featured a deep gold palette and was lavishly adorned with gota patti embroidery, mirror work, and intricate hand embroidery. Hailing from Rajasthan, Ruchi paid homage to her roots through the ensemble that exuded royal elegance. She completed the look with a handcrafted Bandhani dupatta from the atelier of Zaribari, created by designer Ram and enhanced with delicate Zardozi detailing. 'Wearing this dupatta felt like I was draping the soul of Rajasthan,' she said. While her appearance at Cannes put her in the global spotlight, Gujjar's journey to stardom began in 2023. A graduate of Maharani College in Jaipur, she relocated to Mumbai to pursue her dream of working in the film industry. The former Miss Haryana 2023 has since made a name for herself in the world of music videos, with popular tracks like Jab Tu Meri Na Rahi and Heli Mein Chor. Coming from a traditional Gujjar family in Rajasthan, Ruchi had to challenge long-standing societal norms to carve a path in the entertainment industry. 'Since I belong to a Gujjar family, there, women are not allowed to work as I am working,' she said in an interview with BollywoodMDB. 'It was difficult to change how people think about women working in Bollywood. I want to be an inspiration in our community, who fought against the will of people's thoughts. And I am the only one from my community who has come so far in the Bollywood industry,' she said. Her journey was made possible in part by the support of her family, especially her father. 'My mother was very scared when I said I wanted to go to Mumbai to work in Bollywood; however, she's quite proud of me that I've come so far. My father has always been very supportive since day one, now my entire family is supporting me,' she said. With her stardom rising and a handful of successful projects under her kitty, Gujjar has her sights set on bigger dreams. 'I would love to work in South (Indian) movies since audiences love them,' she said.

Ford starts preparatory work to resume operations at its Chennai plant

The automobile company also finalised the components to be manufactured from the Chennai facility and it may resume work in the second half of 2025 New Delhi The US automaker Ford has started the preparatory work to restart the first phase of its operations at its Chennai plant, Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa said on Wednesday, according to a report by The Financial Express. 'There was some slowdown (in the process) due to the regime change in the US, but now things are back on track,' Rajaa said. According to the news report, the automobile company also finalised the components to be manufactured from the Chennai facility, and preparatory work is underway for the same. However, it is still not clear if Ford would resume full vehicle production as it was planned. Citing the government official, the report mentioned that Ford may resume the manufacturing work in the second half of 2025. Trump tariffs affect After Trump imposed tariffs on several countries, it affected all of the industries globally, especially major sectors like the automobile industry. From imports and exports to manufacturing, companies are unable to take decisions, as many countries are still in conversation with the US to secure a trade deal. These talks are aimed at avoiding the high import tariffs imposed by Trump. US auto major Ford is also impacted by this uncertainty in the global market. According to the report, the company had a limited plan to export engines, gear systems, and transmissions instead of manufacturing complete cars. However, this limited plan still ran into trouble when the Trump administration put a high 25 per cent tax on imported cars and major parts, making it unclear if using India as an export base would still make sense. But in a big policy change, Trump signed orders on Tuesday that reduce some of the pressure. The 25 per cent tax will stay, but carmakers that complete their vehicles in the US will get a 15 per cent rebate, which lowers costs for those willing to do the final assembly in the US. Why did Ford exit India in 2021? Ford's exit from India in 2021 ended a long struggle to succeed in the country. Even though it launched popular cars like the EcoSport, Figo, and Endeavour, it could not keep up with rivals like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, and Kia, who led the market with their affordable, fuel-efficient vehicles. With $2 billion in losses and less than 2 per cent market share, it became too hard for Ford to keep running its business in India. Things got worse when its partnership with Mahindra & Mahindra fell apart in 2020, leaving Ford without a local partner to help in the price-sensitive market. Although Ford stopped making cars in India, it still supports its customers with parts and service and continues to export vehicles from the country.
