Samantha Armytage rejected by former employer Seven after appealing for 2025 Logie Awards role - as her hunky date on the night is revealed
Ex-Sunrise host Samantha Armytage's appeal for a role at the 2025 Logie Awards has reportedly been brutally rejected by her former employer Channel Seven. Armytage, 48, stepped down from Seven last August following 21 years with the network, after she declined a new contract. She was subsequently unveiled as the host of Nine's new dating show The Golden Bachelor in November during the network's annual upfronts. Armytage's former employer has held the broadcasting rights to the annual Logie awards for the past two years. It's during this time viewers have accused the network of favouring their own talent over others. And unfortunately for Armytage, it seems the trend has caught up to her. Sunday Confidential reported Nine put her forward to present an award at the Logies this weekend, however the move was reportedly quickly shut down by organisers of the annual ceremony. It comes as relations between Armytage and Seven appear to have deteriorated after she threw the ultimate dig at her old bosses with an appearance on Sunrise's competitor Today, last October. Armytage took to Instagram stories and shared a selfie alongside Today hosts Karl Stefanovic, Sarah Abo, Alex Cullen, and Jayne Azzopardi. 'This morning, I woke up she captioned the image. Just days earlier, she told 2GB she quit breaky central to helm Farmer Wants a Wife because her career had effectively run its course at Seven. 'I'd had enough, and you know I like a good horse metaphor — I'd ridden it to the top, I'd done all I could do and it was good time to step out," she said. The TV veteran will nevertheless be in attendance at the glitzy Logie Awards evening alongside a handsome date, the Golden Bachelor himself. Armytage and the star of the programme, Barry 'Bear' Myrden, will strut into the event arm in arm in a scene which is sure to cause a media stir. It appears that is the aim of the stunt, according to a The Daily Telegraph insider who said the move will showcase Barry publicly. 'They will use the night to debut Bear for the first time,' the source said. The frosty relations between Amytage and Seven raises the question — who will stand up to accept the award for Best Structured Reality Program if Farmer Wants A Wife were to claim the gong? Armytage fronted the series for three years, including in 2024 when the show also earned a Logies nod. Natalie Gruzlewski reclaimed the hosting reins in 2025, during which time the show was outpaced in the ratings by Nine's popular game show, The Floor. This year, the programme is competing against Ten's Gogglebox Australia, Nine's Married At First Sight, ABC's Muster Dogs: Collies & Kelpies, Ten's Shark Tank Australia Binge/ Foxtel's The Real Housewives of Sydney. Armytage will make her first major return to the spotlight on Sunday after splitting from her husband of four years, Richard Lavender, last December. The news shocked some industry insiders after the TV host quit Sunrise to live at Lavender's 40-hectare estate in NSW's Southern Highlands. It is understood she has since returned to Sydney's eastern suburbs.

Channel Seven's brutal swipe at Sam Armytage ahead of the Logies… as the VERY handsome man she will bring as her date is revealed
Samantha Armytage has been brutally snubbed from the 2025 Logie Awards, which will be broadcast by her former employer Channel Seven on Sunday night. The 48-year-old, who is going to host Nine's new series The Golden Bachelor, was reportedly set to present an award at the ceremony but the idea was shut down. Channel Nine had nominated their new recruit Samantha to present the award but the idea wasn't approved by organisers of the event, according to The Daily Telegraph. Samantha is still expected to attend the Logies with the star of The Golden Bachelor, Barry 'Bear' Myrden. Her date is rumoured to be the 50-something hunk who will be looking for love in the upcoming dating series. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. While the outing is designed to be a promotion for the hotly-anticipated series, Sam's return to the public eye with a glamorous man on her arm is the perfect comeback following her painful divorce. Sam split with husband Richard Lavender late last year, just shy of their four-year anniversary. The television personality has been single and ready to mingle ever since, and has recently undergone a glamorous makeover ahead of her hosting role on The Golden Bachelor. Barry 'Bear' Myrden is an infrastructure engineer and passionate sailor from Sydney, who has been handpicked as the leading man for the upcoming Australian adaptation. Barry, a father-of-three and a respected professional in the tech industry, currently works in Data Centre Management for Woolworths Group. With decades of experience in his field, he has held senior roles at major companies like Macquarie Bank and the NSW Port Authority. But while his career has flourished, sources close to Daily Mail Australia revealed his personal journey has been marked by tragedy, as Barry is widowed. 'Bear is always complaining that his boys are saying that he is bringing around the wrong kind of girls that are just too young and hot for him,' one friend revealed. 'We were always saying that he needs to be put on a show like MAFS, so seeing him up for the Bachelor role is no surprise.' Despite his corporate background, Barry is far from your typical office-bound executive. A passionate sailor, he has competed in high-profile races like the Sydney to Hobart. Unlike The Bachelor and The Bachelorette which feature young men and women, The Golden Bachelor is targeted at a more mature audience eager to watch how those who have already experienced great love and loss are chasing companionship in their next chapter. 'Bear is not your usual reality TV type,' an insider told Daily Mail Australia. 'He's charming, intelligent and has really lived a full life. He's been through love, loss and now he's ready to open his heart again. Women are going to adore him.' 65th TV WEEK LOGIE AWARDS NOMINATIONS TV WEEK GOLD LOGIE – Most Popular Personality on Australian Television Ally Langdon - A Current Affair, The Olympic Games Paris 2024, 9Network Hamish Blake - LEGO Masters Australia, 9Network Julia Morris - I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Network 10 Lisa Millar - Back Roads, ABC News Breakfast, Muster Dogs: Where Are They Now, Muster Dogs: Collies & Kelpies, ABC Lynne McGranger - Home and Away, Seven Network Poh Ling Yeow - MasterChef Australia, Network 10 Sonia Kruger - The Voice, Dancing With The Stars, Logies Red Carpet Show, Seven Network Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter Hamish Blake - LEGO Masters Australia, 9Network Julia Morris - I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Network 10 Ricki-Lee - Australian Idol, Seven Network Sonia Kruger - The Voice, Dancing With The Stars, Logies Red Carpet Show, Seven Network Todd Woodbridge - Tipping Point Australia, Australian Open, The Olympic Games Paris 2024, Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, 9Network Zan Rowe - Take 5 With Zan Rowe, ABC New Year's Eve, ABC Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent Guy Montgomery - Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont Spelling Bee, ABC Hailey Pinto - Home and Away, Seven Network Jenny Tian - Taskmaster Australia, Network 10 Kate Miller-Heidke - The Voice, Seven Network Kylah Day - Territory, Netflix Sofia Levin - MasterChef Australia, Network 10 Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter Ally Langdon - A Current Affair, 9Network David Speers - Insiders, ABC Michael Usher - 7NEWS, 7NEWS Spotlight, Seven Network Peter Overton - 9News, 9Network Sarah Ferguson - 7.30, ABC Tara Brown - 60 Minutes, Dangerous Lies: Unmasking Belle Gibson, 9Network TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Lead Actor in a Drama Lloyd Griffith - Return To Paradise, ABC Michael Dorman - Territory, Netflix Robert Taylor - Territory, Netflix Sam Corlett - Territory, Netflix Sam Neill - The Twelve, BINGE / FOXTEL Tai Hara - Return To Paradise, ABC TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Lead Actress in a Drama Alycia Debnam-Carey - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Anna Samson - Return To Paradise, ABC Anna Torv - Territory, Netflix Ayesha Madon - Heartbreak High, Netflix Kaitlyn Dever - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Lynne McGranger - Home and Away, Seven Network TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Aaron Chen - Fisk, ABC Ben Miller - Austin, ABC Clancy Brown - Good Cop/Bad Cop, Stan Luke Cook - Good Cop/Bad Cop, Stan Michael Theo - Austin, ABC Patrick Brammall - Colin From Accounts, BINGE / FOXTEL TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Harriet Dyer - Colin From Accounts, BINGE / FOXTEL Jenna Owen - Nugget is Dead: A Christmas Story, Stan Kitty Flanagan - Fisk, ABC Leighton Meester - Good Cop/Bad Cop, Stan Sally Phillips, Austin - ABC Vic Zerbst - Nugget is Dead: A Christmas Story, Stan TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Supporting Actor Ashley Zukerman - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Darren Gilshenan - Colin From Accounts, BINGE / FOXTEL Glenn Butcher - Fisk, ABC Mark Coles Smith - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Matt Nable - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Sam Delich - Territory, Netflix TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Best Supporting Actress Aisha Dee - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Chloé Hayden - Heartbreak High, Netflix Julia Zemiro - Fisk, ABC Marg Downey - The Newsreader, ABC Michelle Lim Davidson - The Newsreader, ABC Tilda Cobham-Hervey - Apple Cider Vinegar, Netflix Best Drama Program Bump - Stan Heartbreak High - Netflix Return To Paradise - ABC Territory - Netflix The Newsreader - ABC The Twelve - BINGE / FOXTEL Best Miniseries or Telemovie Apple Cider Vinegar - Netflix Critical Incident - Stan Fake - Paramount+ How To Make Gravy - BINGE / FOXTEL Human Error - 9Network Plum - ABC Best Entertainment Program ABC New Year's Eve - ABC Australian Idol - Seven Network Countdown 50 Years On - ABC Dancing With The Stars - Seven Network The Voice - Seven Network Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight - 9Network Best Current Affairs Program 60 Minutes - 9Network 7.30 - ABC 7NEWS Spotlight - Seven Network A Current Affair - 9Network Australian Story - ABC Four Corners - ABC Best Scripted Comedy Program Austin - ABC Colin From Accounts - BINGE / FOXTEL Fisk - ABC Good Cop/Bad Cop - Stan Melbourne International Comedy Festival - ABC Optics - ABC Best Comedy Entertainment Program Gruen - ABC Hard Quiz - ABC Have You Been Paying Attention? How Much Does 'The Golden Bachelor' Get Paid? Salary Details
The Golden Bachelor is making its hotly anticipated (by me and my grandma) return for season two in a couple months, at which point we'll be formally introduced to Mel Owens. Well, maybe. There's some speculation that Mel could be recast due to controversial comments he made about the age of his contestants, but either way, we're here to talk about how much this man is getting paid to find love on reality television. And while we don't have an exact figure, there's a lot we *do* know. Mel kicked off his career with the LA Rams and was with them for nine full years. Can't speak to his specific pay, but the minimum yearly salary for a NFL player is ~$795,000 (and can reach into the high millions), so seems fair to assume Mel was doing juuuuuust fine. Plus, he became a sports injury lawyer post retirement. How much does he have in the bank, you ask? Celebrity Net Worth puts Mel's net worth at $2 million. ABC has never confirmed what they pay talent, but there's been a lot of information leaked over the years. Amy Kaufman reported in her 2018 book Bachelor Nation that it's "incredibly rare for someone to make less than six figures." There are also rumors that Bachelor Sean Lowe made $75,000 to $90,000 for his season, while Emily Maynard made history negotiating $250,000 for her season. Just keep in mind that Sean and Emily's seasons aired over a decade ago in 2012/2013, so you'd think rates have only gone up since then. not? More recently (but still several years ago in 2021), Jason Tartick revealed that he, Colton Underwood, and Blake Horstmann were offered $100,000 to star on The Bachelor. And Dean Unglert revealed that he was offered $75,000. POINT IS: Chances are Mel will likely be paid somewhere around $100,000 for The Golden Bachelor. If Mel Owens falls in love and agrees to a televised wedding, ABC will write him yet another check. According to Slate, Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum were reportedly paid $250,000 for their wedding in 2012, while Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici earned six figures for their wedding a few years later in 2014. While ABC pays their leads, contestants don't earn money on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, and there's no reason to assume The Golden Bachelor operates differently. As Ashley Iaconetti put it, "You don't get paid as one of the girls on The Bachelor." In fact, contestants often lose money to be on the show due to having to purchase their own wardrobe, and in some cases taking time off or even quitting their jobs! However, they do get paid to go on Bachelor in Paradise (around $400 to $800 a day), and of course there are the inevitable endorsement deals that start rolling in. The Golden Bachelor season 2 premieres September 24, 2025 on ABC.

The VERY handsome man Samantha Armytage will have on her arm at the Logies revealed - after divorce from Richard Lavender
Samantha Armytage is returning to the spotlight after a difficult few months. And the television personality is doing it in style, by bringing a very handsome date to the Logies on Sunday. The 48-year-old is reportedly mixing business and pleasure, with the Daily Telegraph reporting on Monday that Sam will have the star of her new series, The Golden Bachelor, on her arm. Sam's date will be Barry 'Bear' Myrden, the 50-something hunk who is looking for love in the upcoming dating series, the publication claims. 'Golden Bachelor' Mel Owens sets strict age limit for contestants despite producer pushback
The newest star of "The Golden Bachelor" has some strict criteria when it comes to choosing a life partner. During an appearance on the "In The Trenches" podcast, Mel Owens - who was cast as the ABC show's newest "Golden Bachelor" in April - admitted that he plans to cut any woman who is "60 and over" and was adamant that producers refrain from casting anyone with "artificial hips" and "wigs." "It's blind up until they get out of the limo. But they asked me, 'What's your preferences?' So, I just said 45 to 60, just being honest," Owens, the 66-year-old NFL veteran, said. "And then the process went, and I was selected, right? And then we had lunch with the executive producer. I said, 'You know, if they're 60 or over, I'm cutting them.' 'Oh Mel, you can't, you know, this is not the 'Silver Bachelor.' It's the 'Golden Bachelor.' He goes, 'but they're going to be hot, don't worry about it. Don't worry about it.'" Additionally, Owens said he expects the contestants to all be in good shape. "I had no resume, but they asked me, what is my, like, my profile?" Owens said. "Well, they got to be fit because I stay in shape, should work out and stuff. And I told them, you know, try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs, you know, that kind of stuff, right." "Well, I don't think there are going to be artificial hips or wigs there, right? Because I know there's amazing women out there," Owens added. The first "Golden Bachelor," Gerry Turner, was 72 at the time of his appearance on the show. He met and married Theresa Nist, 70, but they divorced three months after tying the knot. The age range for the 22 contestants on the first season ranged from 60 to 75. Representatives for "The Golden Bachelor" did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. According to the show's press release, Owens was married for 25 years and has two sons. He hopes to find a love "rooted in the simple joys of companionship — sharing life's everyday moments, making plans for the future and growing stronger together as a couple." "As the Golden Bachelor, he's eager to meet someone who shares this vision and finally find that perfect teammate he's been waiting for in his golden years," the press release reads.
