The comedian's parents hail from Punjab. Her father, who had ancestry in Nepal, died when Bharti was only two years old. She has two older siblings.
Early life
Bharti emerged as the second runner-up of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 1. Her character named Lalli became a household name. After the show, she never looked back.
Entry into Comedy
After her initial success, Bharti appeared as a contestant on Comedy Circus. She then co-hosted Comedy Nights Bachao with Krushna Abhishek.
Carving a niche
Bharti tried her hand at acting with the show Pyaar Me Twist. However, she gained success by hosting shows like India's Got Talent Season 5, India's Best Dancer, Hunarbaaz: Desh Ki Shaan and Laughter Chef.
Reality TV shows
She also showcased her dancing skills in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 in 2012. After this, she participated in Nach Baliye 8 with her partner Haarsh Limbachiyaa.
