A Twist of Fate: How John Cena nearly missed his WWE destiny

Image via WWE John Cena was almost about to not get into wrestling, which could have led to WWE not getting their 'GOAT.' WWE has seen many top stars define eras and generations. One of the biggest names in that conversation has been none other than John Cena. The Unseen 17 has emerged as one of the biggest attractions in professional wrestling, as the face of WWE. However, the company would have missed out on 'The Greatest of All Time' had Cena decided to go a different direction at the same time he encountered. John Cena almost missed out on wrestling due to his other aspirations In a candid conversation with Stephanie McMahon on her new show, Stephanie's Places, The Champ shared an interesting story about his days of struggle. After becoming inclined to the world of physical activity, John Cena wanted to join the Marine Corps, which he believed would be a perfect fit for his aspirations. Cena decided to sign up for the Marines and was set to go there. However, his friend invited him to a training session in Orange County that same weekend. The Face that Runs the Place chose to go there instead and immediately fell in love with wrestling upon seeing the ring. It was then that he decided to do a regular job on the weekdays and pursue wrestling on the weekends. Cena said, "I wanted to remain physical and I wanted to keep at a top level of performance ...think by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Girls Show Their Perfect Figure In These Sport Photos Take At Perfect Time True Edition Undo the Marines, they pretty seem that they would do that. So I was going to drive down and sign up, and literally the weekend I was going to go. My buddy was like, 'Hey, we are training in Orange County, would you wanna do that?' I said I'll take a look at that ... and I remember driving to LA Box, it's a one-storey glass building and I could see the ring through the glass and I was like, 'I will deal with the suck, Monday to Friday because on the weekends, I'll be a Superhero and that's how I approached it. " Had John Cena decided to go for the Marines that weekend, WWE would have never gotten one of its marquee names, and the wrestling world would have looked very different. However, Cena chose to attend that training session, and in doing so, he joined WWE. Twenty-five years later, he is now known as the GOAT, currently holding the record as the 17-time WWE Champion.
