Indulge dad with Peach Garden's giant $1,000++ longevity bun for Father's Day

Peach Garden's giant longevity bun is loaded with abalone, fish maw, dried scallops and sea cucumber. PHOTO: PEACH GARDEN SINGAPORE - Have a very decadent dad you would like to spoil for Father's Day? Consider Chinese restaurant chain Peach Garden's show-stopping giant Buddha Jumps Over The Wall longevity bun that weighs a staggering 4kg and is priced at an eye-popping $1,000++. Accounting for the extravagant price tag are luxurious ingredients such as abalone, fish maw, dried scallops, sea cucumber and shark's fin - in a rich double-boiled chicken and pork broth - all loaded into the fluffy bun. An alternative version - sans shark's fin - at the same price can be ordered to suit dietary preferences. More of the other ingredients will be added instead. Each giant longevity bun, which can generously serve eight to 10 people, takes about two hours for the chefs to prepare and assemble. Limited to eight orders daily, it is available for dine-in only at all Peach Garden outlets including The Heeren, Chinatown Point and Thomson Plaza. Advance orders are required. Readers of The Straits Times can get a 30 per cent discount on the bun when they present a photo of the online or print version of this article at the outlets, till June 30. First launched for Mother's Day, the hefty Buddha Jumps Over The Wall longevity bun received 'overwhelming response' from customers, with more than 50 sold across the outlets, says Peach Garden's marketing communications manager Samantha Yap. The bun will continue to be available after June 30, but at its original price of $1,688++. Ms Yap says: 'The giant longevity bun was conceptualised as a modern tribute to traditional Chinese birthday celebrations. We wanted something symbolic, festive and visually stunning - a centrepiece that represents blessings, abundance and togetherness. 'The size and ingredients reflect a sense of grandeur, making it perfect for milestone occasions.'
