Cat Deeley's wedding ring confession before Patrick Kielty marriage split

This Morning host Cat Deeley once admitted that her wedding ring wasn't brand new when she wed RTÉ One's The Late Late Show presenter, Patrick Kielty. The special piece carries deep sentimental value, tracing its history back to the 1940s. During an appearance on the Outspoken Beauty podcast, the 48-year-old opened up about various aspects of her life, from motherhood and beauty tips, to her professional journey. When discussing confidence, presenter Nicola Bonn remarked to Cat: "I think a lot of people would say you are a traditional beauty, but I like that, I love imperfections as well. "Like, my wedding ring is bent now and it's got a little diamond missing but I'm like, no, that's like marriage, marriage is a bit bent." Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley share two sons Cat responded in agreement: "Exactly." Cat, who presents the This Morning alongside Ben Shephard, then revealed more about her treasured wedding band. She disclosed in 2020: "My wedding ring is actually my nan's wedding ring. And it says, I think, 'Lil and Jim 1942' in it. "I think my grandad got it from under the counter because there was no gold because it was after the war, so very similar." The television personality and 54-year-old Patrick tied the knot during a private ceremony in Rome in 2012, surrounded by their nearest and dearest. The couple are parents to two boys, Milo, nine, and James, six, whom they shield from media attention. In a joint statement, they said via a spokesperson: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. "We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment." Since the announcement, both presenters have kept quiet on their respective social media accounts. Cat will also steer clear of appearing on-screen as the news becomes public knowledge, owing to her planned break from ITV during the summer period. Patrick's most recent public tribute to his wife dates back to 2024 when she stepped in for Holly Willoughby on the programme. Cat Deeley took over from Holly Willoughby on This Morning Sharing a collection of her photos on Instagram, he penned: "I didn't know what a morning person actually was until I met this woman. "She gets up every day with a smile on her face. [At] 5.30am, whistling in the shower, smile on her face. "Then downs two coffees, and gives you the look. The 'What the f**k's wrong with you, let's do this'." He continued: "It's not a pretend smile. And it's not just some mornings. It's every morning. Which is b****y difficult cos she's married to me. "I should also mention she likes a chat. To anyone. About anything. Anywhere. If there's anyone in the world made for a show called @thismorning, it's this human." Patrick ended his post by wishing his wife success in her new role, humorously adding: "Strap yourself in @benshephardofficial. And welcome to my world. We couldn't be prouder of you @catdeeley Go get 'em mama!".

Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley's 'real reason' for split after 13 year marriage

Irish Late Late Show host, Patrick Kielty and his television presenter wife, Cat Deeley, announced their decision to separate on Tuesday after more than 10 years of marriage. Now, sources have disclosed the 'true cause' behind the former pair's apparently abrupt separation following 13 years of wedlock. Patrick, 54, and Cat, 48, sent ripples through the entertainment world when they confirmed their breakup in a joint statement to the PA news agency. Their statement read: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. "We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment," reports the Mirror. Patrick and Cat have ended their marriage (Image: Rex) Patrick travels to Dublin weekly to host the Late Late Show (Image: PA) The former pair first crossed paths whilst co-presenting BBC's Fame Academy in 2002, though it wasn't until 2011 that they eventually chose to transform their friendship into romance. The duo married 12 months later in September 2012 during a ceremony in Rome and share two sons, Milo, 9, and James, 6. In the wake of their surprising breakup, sources have now suggested that their demanding professional commitments created obstacles and caused strain within their relationship. Cat has co-presented ITV's This Morning with Ben Shephard since the beginning of last year, and previously resided in Los Angeles for over a decade. Meanwhile, Irish broadcaster Patrick presents RTE talk show The Late Late Show, having succeeded Ryan Tubridy in 2023. Despite residing in the UK, Patrick would journey to Dublin weekly to host the programme from the RTE studios. Their conflicting timetables made it increasingly challenging for Patrick and Cat to enjoy meaningful moments together, sources revealed. Revealing the apparent catalyst behind their marital breakdown, the source explained: "It is such sad news. They were so happy after they moved back to London, and would talk about their grand plans to renovate the house for the family. "But sadly, as so often happens with relationships, work got in the way and it put a huge strain on the marriage." The insider told Mail Online: "When Cat took the This Morning job in 2024, they were becoming more and more like ships in the night. "Patrick, in particular, has been spending more time in his native Dundrum where he has had a home for 25 years. His aunt died on Christmas Eve, and his mother's health was up and down before her death in March. His brothers John and Cahal have been such a comfort to him." The heartbreaking revelation of their separation emerges amid viewer worries that the pair would find it tough managing their contrasting work patterns when Cat and co-presenter Ben Shephard replaced Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on ITV's This Morning. Reports have even suggested that Cat and Patrick were leading entirely different lives prior to their shocking separation being confirmed on Tuesday. However, Patrick had previously dismissed suggestions that the TV personalities were finding it difficult to spend quality time together, maintaining they had established a schedule that suited them and their two lads. When The Times questioned whether the pair were like "ships passing in the night", Patrick rejected this notion "because Cat's doing her stuff in the morning, she would normally be back just after lunchtime". Cat Deeley for This Morning (Image: ITV) Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley (Image: Getty Images) The funnyman continued: "And we've got the start of the week and the weekends together, so it's not 'Hi/bye'." Despite painting a rosy picture of their circumstances during the chat, Patrick also confessed that the duo endured a "tricky" spell when Cat had to film So You Think You Can Dance in the US for seven weeks. He remembered: "There was a moment after Christmas that was tricky, when Cat's show [So You Think You Can Dance] came back in America, and she had to fly to Atlanta for seven weeks. "There was a wee bit of a juggle there. But I think with all these things, as long as you have a routine, it doesn't take as much fizz out of you as some people think." Nevertheless, just a couple of months following Patrick's remarks, he and Cat revealed their split. Before their shocking announcement, the pair had relocated their household from Los Angeles to London in 2023, with Patrick travelling to his role on The Late Late Show. This followed 15 years of living Stateside. They hadn't been photographed together publicly for more than a year, though, and Cat was also absent from Patrick's mother's funeral in March. At the time, a spokesperson informed the Mirror that Cat had stayed home to look after their sons, stating: "Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day." The Mirror has contacted Patrick and Cat's respective representatives for comment on this story. For more of the latest breaking news from the Irish Mirror check out our homepage by clicking here.

Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley have announced they are separating after 13 years of marriage but Patrick opened up about their tricky relationship months before Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley have announced they are splitting up, 13 years after tying the knot in 2012. The news came after fans previously expressed concerns that the couple might find it difficult to balance their contrasting work schedules, after Cat and presenting partner Ben Shephard replaced Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on ITV's This Morning in 2023. ‌ The pair wed in 2012 at a gorgeous ceremony in Rome and share two young children together - Milo, nine and James, seven. Patrick and Cat announced their split in a joint statement to the PA News agency on Tuesday. ‌ The statement read: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected." ‌ "There will be no further comment," it concluded. Now reports have suggested that Cat and Patrick were living independent lives prior to announcing their spilt, Belfast Live reports. ‌ Last September, Patrick, who presents The Late Late Show which is recorded in Dublin, dismissed suggestions that the couple were finding it hard to make time for each other. The comedian sent assurances that the pair had established a schedule that suited them and their two children. While giving an optimistic perspective during the chat, Patrick recognised that they had experienced a "tricky" spell when Cat needed to record in the US for seven weeks. He recalled: "There was a moment after Christmas that was tricky, when Cat's show [So You Think You Can Dance] came back to America, and she had to fly to Atlanta for seven weeks." ‌ "There was a wee bit of a juggle there. But I think with all these things, as long as you have a routine, it doesn't take as much fizz out of you as some people think." Before their shock announcement, the pair had relocated their family from Los Angeles to London in 2023, after spending 15 years living in America. Patrick travelled back and forth to Dublin multiple times a week for his role on The Late Late Show. The couple hadn't been spotted together publicly for more than a year, and Cat was absent from Patrick's mother's funeral in March this year. At the time of the funeral, a spokesperson told the Mirror that Cat had stayed home to look after their children, stating: "Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day."

Cat Deeley's forgotten first boyfriend she was rumoured to have secretly married

Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty have split after 19 years together, but Cat was previously in a relationship with a PR expert Mark Whelan and was even linked to Leonardo DiCaprio TV stars Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty have shocked fans by announcing their split after more than a decade of marriage. ‌ The couple met while hosting BBC 's Fame Academy together in 2002, but only made their first public appearance as a couple nine years later in 2011. They wed a year later in September 2012 at a ceremony in Rome and have two children together ‌ Before Patrick came on the scene, This Morning star Cat was in a long-term relationship with public relations expert Mark Whelan. There were even rumours that the pair had tied the knot - but Cat's reps denied these claims. Sadly, things didn't work out and they parted ways in 2006. Cat's latest break-up comes after Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones' sad split - and now he's joined a notorious dating app on a lads' holiday. ‌ Speaking about her then-partner, Cat said Mark "used to be a bad boy, but these days is a lot more mellow." In a previous interview, she said: "He's ten years older than me and very smart and he's introduced me to things that weren't in my realm." "Mark has been reassessing his life and decided his future wasn't with Cat," a friend told the Daily Star at the time. "He still loves her but knew they wouldn't spend the rest of their lives together." ‌ Cat - who was also once linked to Leonardo DiCaprio - confirmed: "We've split up - but I've never talked about my private life and I don't intend to now." After their break-up, she spent two years in a relationship with Jack Huston, a scion of the legendary Huston acting dynasty who starred in the film Twilight: Eclipse, but the relationship reportedly ended as the pair wanted to focus on their careers. While single in Hollywood, Cat also dated actor Michael McMillian after first meeting the True Blood star at a party. The pair were regularly photographed around the movie capital, with Cat telling friends she thought he was 'The One'. ‌ But a source told The Mail on Sunday: "It's all over. Cat's disappointed but moving on with her life. She is happy in all aspects of her life apart from her lack of a stable relationship." She went on to tie the knot with The Late Late Show host Patrick in 2012 after a whirlwind nine-month romance. ‌ In a candid interview with Tommy Tiernan in January 2023, Patrick revealed that he first met his wife back in 2002 during their time on hit reality TV show, Fame Academy. Patrick explained: "We each had partners at the time and nothing went on, but there was a wee vibe there." That subtle connection lingered, and the two stayed in touch purely as friends, linked by a sweet ritual of exchanging birthday wishes twice a year. Cat shared her side of the love story on The Late Late Show with Ryan Tubridy in 2020, recalling a particular phonecall that changed everything. ‌ "There was a night before my birthday - I can't even remember which one, it was thirty-something - Patrick called me just to wish me happy birthday," she said. "He asked what I was doing, and I told him we were having a late brunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I said, 'It's a shame you're not here - you could come along.'" At the time, Patrick was in a pub at home in Co Down, Northern Ireland. But after the call, he rushed home and booked a 7am flight to Los Angeles. The next day, he strolled into her birthday brunch, leaving Cat in total shock. She later admitted it was then she began to fall for his charm. Reflecting on the bold move, Patrick said: "I've always been a born romantic… If I had a quid for every rom-com I've cried at. I followed my heart all the way to Los Angeles to surprise my now-wife for lunch. Twelve years and two kids later, I think it worked out." However, the TV duo revealed on Tuesday that they are no longer a couple in a bombshell statement. They said: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. "We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment."
