Cal Raleigh homers as Mariners halt Brewers' 11-game win streak
Cal Raleigh hit his major league-leading 39th home run of the season and Logan Gilbert pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings as the Seattle Mariners put an end to visiting Milwaukee's 11-game winning streak with a 1-0 decision Tuesday night. Cal Raleigh homers as Mariners halt Brewers' 11-game win streak Raleigh, who won the Home Run Derby during last week's All-Star festivities in Atlanta, went deep to right field with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning off Brewers reliever Nick Mears . Gilbert , a former All-Star who spent more than six weeks on the injured list earlier this season with a right elbow flexor strain, allowed just two hits a leadoff single by Jackson Chourio in the fifth and a one-out single by Christian Yelich in the seventh. Gilbert, a right-hander, didn't walk a batter and struck out 10. Mariners relievers Matt Brash, Eduard Bazardo, Gabe Speier and Andres Munoz combined for 2 2/3 hitless innings. Munoz worked around two walks and a wild pitch in the ninth for his career-high-tying 22nd save of the season. Brewers phenom Jacob Misiorowski pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings in his sixth major league start before being relieved after 64 pitches. The right-hander, who represented the National League in the All-Star Game, allowed three hits, walked one and fanned seven. Misiorowski faced a scary moment when Seattle's Julio Rodriguez led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a liner that hit "The Miz" in the back right pocket of his pants before rolling into foul territory along the first-base line while Rodriguez reached safely on an infield single. As Misiorowski walked back up the mound, he glanced toward the Brewers dugout and waved off manager Pat Murphy and trainers, indicating he was OK. The Brewers threatened in the seventh after Yelich's single ended Gilbert's night. Chourio hit a one-hopper back to the mound that went off the back of reliever Brash's left calf. Brash had trouble finding the ball, then fired to first where Luke Raley dropped the throw as Chourio raced down the line. The error by the first baseman put runners at first and second. Isaac Collins grounded to third baseman Ben Williamson, who stepped on third to force out Yelich, but Raley again couldn't handle the throw as the Brewers avoided an inning-ending double play. Brash got Andrew Vaughn to ground to third to finally get out of the jam. Field Level Media This article was generated from an automated news agency feed without modifications to text.

No hamburger giveaway in Milwaukee: Cal Raleigh, Mariners put end to Brewer's win streak
There'll be no free hamburgers in Milwaukee. And it was "The Big Dumper" who spoiled the tasty reward for Brewers fans. The Seattle Mariners defeated the Brewers, 1-0, on Tuesday, July 22, halting Milwaukee's winning streak at 11 games. A sixth-inning solo home run by Cal Raleigh was the winning tally for Seattle. It was a league-leading 39th home for "The Big Dumper," who won the MLB Home Run Derby last week. The Brewers came tantalizingly close to providing free hamburgers for their fans, courtesy of local restaurant chain George Webb. George Webb has a long-standing promotion that if Milwaukee's baseball team wins 12 games in a row, the restaurant hands out free burgers. It's only happened twice previously, in 2018 and 1987. Cal Raleigh cooks up a dinger Raleigh — who hit a Mariners record 38 home runs before the All-Star break — clobbered his 39th of the season and remained ahead of the New York Yankees' Aaron Judge (39), Arizona Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suárez (36) and Los Angeles Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani (35). Jacob Misiorowski strikes out seven "The Miz" pitched for the first time since his appearance in the All-Star Game, going 3 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, no runs and striking out seven. The rookie flamethrower was pulled by Brewers manager Pat Murphy in the fourth inning after 64 pitches. The biggest stories, every morning. Watch: George Kittle dropkicks WWE star The Miz on golf course in shocking moment
George Kittle's Golf Course MELTDOWN Ends in Brutal Knockout Kick (Image via Getty) Look, George Kittle plays football like he belongs in a wrestling ring so it's honestly no surprise that when he hit the golf course this weekend, the 49ers star tight end went full WWE . No, seriously. In the middle of a celebrity tournament, Kittle channeled his inner Shawn Michaels and literally drop-kicked WWE legend The Miz to the ground. And no, this wasn't some bar fight gone wrong, it was a hilariously staged moment that instantly blew up online. George Kittle shocked fans by 'knocking out' The Miz with a perfect WWE kick on the green The moment happened at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, which is known more for celebrity laughs than viral hits. But George Kittle had other plans. Dressed for the course but wired for chaos, the 49ers star lined up a kick and blasted The Miz with a textbook 'Sweet Chin Music' right in front of the cameras. The Miz, ever the pro, sold it like a true WWE champ and collapsed in dramatic fashion. For fans watching live or catching the clip online, it looked like Kittle had just laid someone out for real until they realized it was a full-on wrestling stunt. The Miz and Kittle's viral moment had WWE fans and NFL die-hards buzzing This wasn't just a goofy moment between friends, it was a perfectly executed WWE homage. Kittle, who's a self-declared WWE superfan, has made multiple appearances at wrestling events before (and even got involved in WrestleMania 39), so this wasn't out of left field. The Miz, of course, played along like the showman he is. The video instantly racked up views across X and Instagram. Some fans joked that Kittle had 'finally chosen his real career path,' while others begged WWE to sign him immediately. This isn't the first time George Kittle has leaned into his WWE dreams If you've followed Kittle for even five minutes, you know this wasn't just a one-time thing. He's made it very clear that WWE is on his post-NFL wishlist. And after this latest viral kick, it feels like the wrestling world is practically inviting him in. In fact, WWE fans are already dreaming of a future 'Miz vs. Kittle' storyline, maybe even a celebrity match someday. Based on how clean that kick was, he might be more ready than people thought. George Kittle didn't just swing a golf club this weekend, he swung for entertainment gold. That WWE-style takedown of The Miz was playful, perfectly timed, and viral-ready. It showed off his wild personality, his love for the wrestling world, and gave fans the ultimate crossover they never knew they needed. If this is what Kittle does on the golf course, we can only imagine what happens next time he walks into a WWE ring. MLB All-Star Game selection needs work to promote merit over marketing
MLB still has the best All-Star Game, but that doesn't mean it's perfect. Far from it. The fan voting is much improved, but the league selection process needs work. Seiya Suzuki, Michael Busch, Cristopher Sánchez and of course Juan Soto shouldn't be sitting home while MLB invites middle relievers and a just-promoted rookie. Advertisement Some veteran players aren't thrilled to see the uber-talented fireballing rookie Jacob Misiorowski make it as a replacement after five MLB starts. Many fans will enjoy The Miz. But merit should rule, not marketing. Some other All-Star thoughts:
