The Real Reason Why Willie Nelson Celebrates Two Birthdays
Willie Nelson celebrates his 92nd birthday this year, and some fans might be surprised to learn that the "On the Road Again" singer actually has two birthdays. Willie was born in 1933 in Abbott, Texas, a small town about 25 miles north of Waco. His actual birthday is April 29, but, because he was born so late at night, the country clerk wasn't able to record it. So, on paper, his birthday is April 30. Willie explained, "I was born before midnight on the 29th but it didn't get registered in the county courthouse until the next day, the 30th. So, it went out officially as the 30th. So I just do both days." In case you're wondering, Willie is showing no signs of slowing down. His 77th studio album, Oh What a Wonderful World, was released on April 25, and his Outlaw Festival tour kicks off in May for the 10th year. This time, Willie will be joined by Bob Dylan, Billy Strings, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Sheryl Crow, Turnpike Troubadours, The Avett Brothers, Wilco, and more. Plus, he's bringing back his 4th of July Picnic in Austin, Texas. With a storied career like Willie's, it's certainly worth a double celebration! We're looking forward to seeing what's next for the country icon. Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll, Benson Boone and more to play free shows
A powerhouse list of Grammy Award-winning singers and chart toppers will descend on downtown San Antonio for the 2025 NCAA March Madness Music Festival April 4-6. Why it matters: It's a rare opportunity to see some of music's biggest stars for free and in the heart of the city. How it works: The three-day festival will take over Tower Park at Hemisfair, coinciding with the Men's Final Four. The schedule is below. Friday, April 4 is the AT&T Block Party, 4:30-10pm, featuring Pitbull, Doechii and Ravyn Lenae. Saturday, April 5 is Coca-Cola LIVE!, 3-9pm with Jelly Roll, T-Pain and Willow Avalon Sunday, April 6 is the Capital One JamFest, 2:30-10:30pm with Chris Stapleton, Benson Boone, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and the Brothers Osborne. The big picture: These are the kind of stars that fans will find at festivals like Austin City Limits, Coachella or Stagecoach, where tickets run a few hundred dollars (sometimes thousands). Soon after the local event, Benson Boone will play the Coachella stage while Jelly Roll will headline Stagecoach. The bottom line: Rest up now — with a star-studded Final Four itinerary followed by Fiesta, April is going to be busy.
