Brad Pitt breaks silence on Angelina Jolie divorce settlement

After nearly a decade of legal wrangling, Hollywood star Brad Pitt has finally opened up about his long-standing divorce from Angelina Jolie. The 61-year-old actor spoke candidly to GQ magazine on 28 May, offering a rare glimpse into the closure of one of Tinseltown's most high-profile splits. When asked if the December 2024 divorce settlement brought him any relief, Pitt kept it cool and understated. 'No, I don't think it was that major of a thing,' he told GQ. 'Just something coming to fruition. Legally.' Brad Pitt's words suggest that the conclusion of the divorce was more a formality than an emotional milestone, according to USA Today. This comes after an eight-year court battle that captivated fans worldwide. Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, ending a relationship that began over a decade earlier on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith . The legal saga included disputes over their shared properties, custody of their six children, and the finances of their winery, Château Miraval. Angelina's lawyer described the settlement as a relief for the actress. 'Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over,' said James Simon. 'She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.' Brad Pitt also addressed his new relationship with Ines de Ramon, which became public at the 2024 British Grand Prix. He dismissed any suggestion that the appearance was a calculated move. 'No, dude, it's not that calculated,' he said. 'If you're living — oh my God, how exhausting would that be? Life just evolves. Relationships evolve.' Brad Pitt's recent work on the film F1 has reignited his passion for acting. Filmed in front of real Formula 1 crowds worldwide, the movie promises to be a thrilling ride. 'It just reinvigorated the whole thing again for me,' Pitt shared. The film, set for release on 27 June, has been hailed by GQ as 'the greatest racing movie of all time.' Co-stars and director Joseph Kosinski praised Pitt's dedication and energy throughout the shoot. The children of Pitt and Jolie are also making headlines. Their daughter Shiloh legally dropped 'Pitt' from her name in May 2024, becoming Shiloh Nouvel Jolie. Vivienne followed suit, removing 'Pitt' from her Playbill credit for the Broadway musical The Outsiders . This shift reflects the ongoing personal changes within the family, even as the legal battles fade into the past. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. These 3 New York Hotels Get You Into The Hottest Broadway Shows

An usher opens the stage curtains of a Broadway show. getty It's rare for a hotel room to prepare you for an event you're about to attend. But Room 309, usually known as the Shanti Suite, at The Chatwal, New York does exactly that. The Stay Gold Suite at The Chatwal, New York Angela Conners Treimer Guests who stay there as part of this luxury Theater District hotel's Stay Gold Suite Experience will get two tickets to The Outsiders, the Tony Award winner for Best Musical on Broadway last year and still standing room only. But first in this renamed, redecorated suite, they'll be surrounded by themes of the show. Signature lines from the production adorn the entry wall, a remote control signals a projector to show films from the 1960's, the musical's era, including Cool Hand Luke and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid starring the main character's idol Paul Newman. A vintage record player has albums from the decade (plus the musical's cast album), popcorn and glass bottles of Coke are set out as movie watching snacks and in the closet: a jean jacket to help a guest look like part of the cast's gang. A movie from the 1960s projected on the wall of the Stay Gold Suite at The Chatwal, New York Angela Conners Treimer Broadway has had a booming season as it heads to this year's Tony Awards on June 8 and hotels around the city's Theater District are linking in special offers with productions. '2025 is currently projected to be the first year that 2019 sales records are broken for both Broadway and NYC tourism as a whole,'explains Nathaniel Hill, Founder & CEO of Broadway Plus which works with hotels on their offerings. 'It's great to have finally recovered and see New York thriving,' A jean jacket in the Stay Gold Suite closet. Angela Conners Treimer That's due, he says, to a couple of reasons. 'The success of the Wicked film brought Broadway back into the forefront of the public conversation, and has been great for sales of many shows, not just Wicked on Broadway. Any time Broadway is in the national media, people are reminded about what a unique and incredible opportunity it is to see a show, and we see an increase in web traffic and requests. This especially happens every year around Tony Award nominations and the Awards ceremony.' Broadway theaters along West 44th Street. getty Another reason is the unusually large number of A list Hollywood stars such as George Clooney, Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal taking to the increase can also be traced to current events. 'In such trying times, a bumper crop of hilarious new shows that bring joy and put a smile on people's faces has been great for business,' he says. 'Oh, Mary!, Death Becomes Her, SMASH, and BOOP! The Musical all offer a wonderful evening in the theater that takes your mind off what's going on in the world.' The MO Lounge at Mandarin Oriental, New York, the site of its Meet and Greet with a Broadway performer. Shawn Talbot Photography The Chatwal may have made the most effort in fashioning a room experience around a show but other hotels also feature unique experiences. In its Broadway VIP Experience, the Mandarin Oriental, New York offers a Meet and Greet with a Broadway performer accompanied by champagne and light fare in the MO Lounge; two orchestra seats to new and long running hits such as Death Becomes Her, SUNSET BLVD., SMASH, Hamilton, Cabaret, Hadestown and Wicked are included as well. Other add ons (subject to availability and additional fees) include a Black car Mercedes S-Class sedan transportation to and from the hotel's Columbus Circle location and the theater, a private concert with Broadway artists and for those with theatrical aspirations, a private coaching session in acting, singing, and dancing led by a Broadway actor. The Petit Salon at Baccarat Hotel New York, site of that hotel's Meet and Greet with a Broadway performer. ERIC LAIGNEL The Baccarat Hotel New York also offers a Meet and Greet with a Broadway performer over champagne and light bites in the crystal filled Petit Salon as part of the Exclusive Curtain Call experience. Premium orchestra seats to shows such as Wicked, MJ The Musical and The Lion King are a guaranteed part of the offer; other shows can be attached if available. Spring Lamb Ravioli at The Terrace and Outdoor Gardens at the Times Square EDITION. The Terrace and Outdoor Gardens at the Times Square EDITION On the culinary front, apart from the fare offered in the meet and greets, there are other options for a quick pre-theater meal in the neighborhood. Guests of The Chatwal can take advantage of the $100 Stay Gold Suite site credit for either the pre-theater menu in The Lambs Club featuring dishes such as Rouget Tagliatelle and Roasted Lamb Saddle with Merguez, Asparagus and Morels or the more casual menu a floor above in the Lambs Bar. The Terrace and Outdoor Gardens at the Times Square EDITION also has a three course Broadway Express menu with options such as Oysters Rockefeller, Loch Duart Salmon with grilled asparagus, marinated feta and mint and Tiramisu but if diners order dishes off the regular menu, recently revised for spring, such as Pasta Primavera and Parmesan Crusted Lamb Chops, the servers are adept at getting customers out before curtain. A selection of hand rolls at Akoya at The Knickerbocker. Briana Balducci Another choice for a light, delicious and very quick meal: hand rolls such as Yuzu Cured Scallops or Australian Wagyu Tataki at the recently opened Akoya at the Knickerbocker Hotel. Much more substantial are the offerings of the new GUI Steakhouse blending Korean and American techniques in prime Ribeyes, Prime Rib, Japanese A5 Wagyu and other top cuts either pre or post theater (the kitchen is open until 10.) Or for those heading to a Wednesday matinee, there are two very affordable for a steakhouse weekday lunch menus: charcoal grilled steak au poivre, market salad and fries ($23) or a three course menu with choices such as Tuna Tartare, Steak Frites or Chicken with Mushrooms and Diane Sauce and Devil's Food Cake with Jang Caramel and Vanilla Ganache. ($37) It's a good thing to know about even on non-matinee days. The $23 charcoal grilled Steak au Poivre at GUI Steakhouse. GUI Steakhouse

Final funding push for Broadway experience

Students from Ella Thomas Vocal Studio model hats at the Timaru Festival of Roses, as part of their two-year long fundraising efforts. PHOTO: SUPPLIED Local singing students are making one final push to get to Broadway. A concert, held at the South Canterbury Drama League's Playhouse next weekend, will be the final fundraising effort for teenagers from the Ella Thomas Vocal Studio (ETVS) to get to New York for a once-in-a-lifetime theatre experience. To fund the adventure, the group of 30 — which includes 10 adults — have been fundraising for almost two years. The students had sold sunscreen, dumplings, held sausage sizzles and made 10,000 cheese rolls, collectively raising over $40,000 which would help with the cost of flying, accommodation and Broadway workshops. Singing teacher and business owner Ella Thomas said the students had planned an exciting adventure which included workshops and seminars in New York's Broadway theatre district as well as sightseeing and live theatre. They had trips to six Broadway shows planned, including: Wicked, Hadestown, and The Outsiders. Also on the agenda was a tour of legendary Radio City Music Hall. She said tailor-made singing workshops for the group would be run by professionals who were both accomplished performers and in-demand teachers. "The students will experience vocal training with industry professionals, tours of internationally renowned venues and nights out on Broadway itself. "The workshop tutors will provide a real-world, engaging experience that will encourage the kids to improve their skills and develop their confidence." "I'm very excited for what these students can achieve in New York." She would be performing in next weekend's concert, alongside the students, as well as guest artist Alice Sollis. Tickets for the two concerts — Saturday night and a matinee performance on Sunday — can be purchased from or by emailing jill@ There would also be a silent auction at the Saturday night concert. — APL

Iconic Hollywood star Rob Lowe, 61, sends fans into a meltdown over shirtless selfie with lookalike son Johnny

Rob Lowe has been melting hearts since the 1980s. And the St Elmo's Fire actor, 61, proved he still has it when he posed alongside his son, Johnny, 29, in a shirtless photo. The elder Lowe pumped out his chest in the steamy selfie, which looked to be taken in his home gym. Both men looked to be in good shape, with Rob posing in a pair of shorts while Johnny wore just a pair of jeans, joggers and a cap. Lowe Sr's large tattoo was also on display in the photo. 'Lowe family tradition: self-indulgent shirtless gym photos,' they wrote on the image shared to both of their Instagram accounts. Fans were thrilled by the photo, with a number of them remarking on Lowe Sr's youthful appearance. 'Some family traditions are meant to be shared with the general public. We thank you,' one person wrote. 'Beast mode,' another wrote. 'Love the father son duo! You guys should do a max set of pull-ups and see what the numbers are,' another added. Lowe has two children with his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, who he married in 1991. Matt Lowe, the couple's eldest child, is 32. Johnny has followed his father into films. They starred in the 2023 TV series, Unstable, together. The fworkplace comedy follows a socially shy son Jackson, played by Johnny, who works alongside his egocentric father Ellis in a high-tech bio research facility. After years of keeping matters related to his divorce from Angelina Jolie mostly confined to the courtroom, Brad Pitt is speaking out about the drawn-out legal matter. On May 28, GQ published a feature story on Pitt's latest film, "F1," and asked him about his December divorce settlement with Jolie following an eight-year battle in court. And Pitt had a surprisingly toned-down response to the question about whether the finalized matter brought any "relief." "No, I don't think it was that major of a thing," Pitt told the magazine. "Just something coming to fruition. Legally." He appeared to have a more impassioned answer to an ensuing question about whether his first public outing with partner Ines de Ramon at the 2024 British Grand Prix in July was a deliberate decision. "No, dude, it's not that calculated," Pitt told GQ. "If you're living — oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If you're living with making those kinds of calculations? No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve." The GQ cover story also spoke with director Joseph Kosinski and co-stars Damson Idris and Lewis Hamilton (also a producer) about the making of what the magazine called "the greatest racing movie of all time," which releases June 27. Amid Brad and Angelina's divorce, children distanced themselves from Pitt's name Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016, more than a decade after they met on the set of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Upon its finalization, Jolie's lawyer, James Simon, told USA TODAY in a statement that "Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over." "She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago," the Dec. 31 statement read. Brad Pitt's daughter changes her name: Shiloh Jolie granted request to drop her dad's last name Pitt, 61, and Jolie, 49, share six children: Maddox, 23; Pax, 21; Zahara, 20; Shiloh, 19; and 18-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. In May 2024, on her 18th birthday, Shiloh dropped her hyphenated last name and petitioned for a legal name change to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, which was approved nearly three months later. People also reported that month that Vivienne dropped "Pitt" from her name in the Playbill credit for the buzzy Broadway musical "The Outsiders," which her mom produced. Aside from the divorce, Pitt and Angelina Jolie had also previously been engaged in an ongoing legal battle over the finances of their winery, Château Miraval, as well as custody over their children.
